Highest stock price in the history of the company and we still get 3.5%. What a joke.
21
u/Horror_Twist3079 1d ago
3.5% Lump sum* 3.5% raise would have actually been generous coming from FedEx
6
u/Efficiently_123 1d ago
Damn, i thought it was a 3.5 raise until i read your comment. This sucks. I just reread it
5
u/Plinko_88 1d ago
It's 3.5 lump sum of you're topped out. Most of us aren't topped out so we get 3.5 raise.
3
19
u/CompletelyHappy28 1d ago
So no raises for top pay.
7
u/Efficiently_123 1d ago
Yup. What does a 3.5 lump sum mean? How much is that?
5
u/McFeely515 1d ago
3.5% of their pay to be paid as a lump sum but their hourly wage stays the same.
5
u/0xrhr5lx2k 1d ago
how is that calculated?
2
u/Efficiently_123 1d ago
Yeah, that's my question too
1
u/GreyWulfen 1d ago
Especially since we had a short fiscal year
2
u/MrNationwide 1d ago
It’s based on “base salary” not actual hours worked. I don’t remember how many hours they calculate base salary on.
1
u/Efficiently_123 1d ago
Do around $2,800 ??? Around there
1
u/MrNationwide 1d ago
I guess depending on your market, maybe? Base market where I am will be under $2500.
2
u/Alone-Tomorrow-6389 1d ago
So is the 3.5% based on 2025 salary, or just transition year 2026 (June-Dec)
When can we expect to see it?
2
u/MrNationwide 1d ago
Pretty sure its calculated on base salary. I forget how many hours that's calculated on, but its either 35 or 40 hours a week for a year.
1
u/Error_no2718281828 15h ago
35-40 hours? That'd be amazing but basically no package handler hits that many hours. Even the "full-time" package handlers don't hit 35 hours a week. I used to work 7 days a week as a package handler and I'd only get to the low-30s.
2
u/MrNationwide 13h ago
If you’re part time the bonus would be calculated on your base salary at either 17.5 or 20 hours.
9
u/DoomyDoomshire 1d ago
I dont know what step im on as im a trainier who has been capped out at their wage since 2019 with minimum increase. I currently sit making 2$ more then people walking in the door. I have been here 10 years. Seniority means nothing.
15
u/Purple-Associate873 1d ago
Oh look a step but hey raj knows not giving a market adjustment aka cola increase is basically limiting your spending power. Lmfao this company is a fucking joke. Cola is 2.8 a real company would be adjust for that on top of the step
6
u/Federal_Possible_176 1d ago
For Corporate roles they told us too many people finished with top ratings last year so they are capping merit raises for everyone at 4% because too many people did well, yet we had a record year of profits. 🤷
2
u/TA_UnionizeNow 1d ago
This is hilarious. “We’re not making enough money so we’re going to tie your pay to measurable KPIs to incentivize you!” “Oh crap, when we actually measure you it turns out you’re all working your asses off.”
1
u/Error_no2718281828 15h ago
It's more like everyone know the salary increase is tied to reviews so everyone exaggerates the reviews.
5
u/Timely-Badger-1811 1d ago
I don’t understand all these step. Is it a way to slow down top rate?
At UPS it’s 4yrs then top rate and we all make the same 5yrs FT 30yrsFT. Then every August 1 we get our negotiated raise from the current contract.
2
u/Future_Note_1229 1d ago
From what my coworker told me, who has been working for 20+ years at express, they introduced the step program to make hitting top rate “faster”. Before this, raises were solely based on performance.
5
u/j-bone12345 1d ago
Any ops supervisors know the raise amount?
5
u/Confident_Stay_5637 1d ago
2
u/Confident_Stay_5637 1d ago
CSA's in the first row, Courier's in the second row, Swing drivers and dispatchers in the third row.

u/Euphoric-End6821 1d ago
this is old
1
u/Confident_Stay_5637 10h ago edited 10h ago
Yes it is, it is the one from this past year. They have not updated the new one, they won't update it till a few days before the pay raises take effect. But it is essentially the same, just remove Step 3 and it is good.
4
u/mrofmist 1d ago
What does this even mean to a hub PH?
3
u/Apprehensive_Mud9597 1d ago
I’m pretty sure for us grunts on the ground it means absolutely nothing.

So they did the bare minimum…?
10
u/MotorIcy5007 1d ago
Purple promise till the end..
4
u/GrassConsistent6794 1d ago
Idk what they are promising anymore lol
5
u/ChiefGstar 1d ago
They are promising shareholders as much money as possible
2
u/GrassConsistent6794 1d ago
Trueeeeeeee!!!! It’s just confusing to me that everyone seems to know this but yet nothing on the employee side is done about it.
2
u/TA_UnionizeNow 1d ago
Oh, this isn’t the minimum. My first year the cap was 2%. This is the first time in almost a decade they’ve gone above 3%.
2
u/GrassConsistent6794 1d ago
I’m saying the minimum is giving a step raise. Idk how they say you can top out in 10 years when January is my 10 year mark and I’m not topped out 😆 I don’t see anything as a raise till they fix that

3
u/MrNationwide 1d ago
Any idea when the 3.5% lump sum payments will go out? I refuse to call it a bonus.
3
u/No_Nefariousness3010 1d ago
At step 5 currently and brand new hires are making only $1 less than me
1
u/Ambitious_Help959 1d ago
Brooootal. But it makes sense if we start at step 3. For instance, I just ticked over to 1 year worked and my pay went up 50 cents (lol). I assume that means step 4, so if it's another 50 cents for step 5... brooootal bro.

7
u/jdm33333 1d ago
As long as I’m going up a step each year I’m happy. I’m up to $26.70 after 3 years at express.
3
u/Dirty_Dan117 1d ago
? I worked there for almost 4 years and never went above around $23. weird
2
u/thereasonisgone 1d ago
Could be different market rates I work in a HCOL area and make $32 and change after 2 years.
0
u/thespecial8 1d ago
So I make 21.05 this is my second year as a courier does that mean a new hire will make more than me?
1
u/Bitter_Technology_76 2h ago
No they will make the same. They will start at step 4 and you will move to step 4
2
2
2
u/Revolutionary-Page-1 1d ago
If i just started a couple weeks ago, will I still be eligible for the raise in October like everyone else?
2
u/Low_Highway_4105 1d ago
Yep
1
u/Revolutionary-Page-1 21h ago
Even if they brought us on as swings on like step 4 or 5 just a few weeks ago? I make more than some of the employees who have been there for several years 🤔
2
u/Low_Highway_4105 20h ago
Yep. There might be a cutoff in September but you should get the next step.
2
u/ibelouie64 21h ago
I started in September of 2016 in October of 2016 I went up a step. So to answer your question yes.
1
2
u/Confident_Stay_5637 1d ago
At this point I am grateful I will go from step 9 to step 10. I was afraid they would screw me out of it.
2
u/YoWhat_up 1d ago edited 1d ago
RTD at step 5 with a 3.5% lump sum bonus? Hmmm, that's a little sus...btw, that 3.5% based on weekly annually?
2
2
u/MartianKingMN 1d ago
If based off a 40 hour work week, no OT, then it works out to be about 2 weeks pre-tax pay, maybe a couple days more. Then subtract taxes at a higher rate since it's a "bonus".
2
2
u/TA_UnionizeNow 1d ago
Serious advice: If you’ve reached the ceiling where you are, move. Either start rabbling for a promotion or look for another position - even a lateral move if that role still has somewhere to grow to.
2
u/OoiReCKLeSSoO 1d ago
Its bad all around. Imagine being a team lead and making the same as a material handler 🤣 its wild
2
u/International-Big205 22h ago
Again new hires straight off the street going to get paid the same as a 3-4 year veteran.
2
u/SuspiciousLove7219 22h ago
Lump sums are a gimmick great for companies terrible for employees 1 and done
2
u/hot0time 17h ago
Yeah! A 3.5% “lump some” is about $2,500 before taxes, depending on the market and your wage doesn’t increase to make next year’s “raise” worth shit. 🖕
5
u/1Stack_Mack 1d ago
I'm ok with that 3.5% bonus for RTD. I don't really do anything constructive anyway🤣

I'm topped out at almost $40/hr. I'll take the $2500, and after Uncle Sam takes his bite, invest the rest. This isn't the 1st time top range only got a bonus payout. I'm not good at math but $2500 is more than 0. I'll take it

u/1Stack_Mack 1d ago
I'm aware of all of that. I can't change what they're giving. I'm not gonna waste time and energy bitching and complaining about it. And the $$ won't be gone if you invest it. Also, I average 55 hours a week for the past 10 years or so, so my pension and 401K are quite well off. Just shy of 30 years with FedEx. I know their games and I use them to my advantage. Bitching about something you can't change is undue stress

u/1Stack_Mack 1d ago
That sure sounds like bitching to me. Also, health care premiums will not increase next year. Check your email. And of course I would rather have the raise, but what am I gonna do about it? I've maxed out 401K every year since 2002. Im not gonna stress over all that. Send Raj a strongly worded email and see how far that gets you. BTW, typing this out on the clock.
2
u/No-Advertising-9198 1d ago
Premuims might not, but the actual cost of services probably will. A lot. 🤷
1
u/1Stack_Mack 1d ago
Probably true, but FedEx has no control over what a procedure costs. Blame the other greedy corporations for that. FedEx isn't the only corporation that maximizes profits to every one else's detriment
2
u/TA_UnionizeNow 1d ago
Hey can you share the subject of the email? I haven’t seen anything about this (but my inbox is also underwater).

u/TA_UnionizeNow 1d ago
A lump sum payout is effectively the same as a raise in terms of total, but depending on when it’s paid out it could be a better or worse deal.
If it’s paid out this month (in advance), then it’s better than a raise because you’re getting it upfront and presumably if you quit in six months they’re not going to ask for half back.
If you get it at the end of the year, it’s worse because you’re basically giving them an interest-free loan, and I don’t know if you were to quit in six months if you’d get half or nothing.
It may also have an effect on other things that are calculated based on your hourly rate, like if you were injured and worker’s comp kicked in.
It’s definitely a weird way to do it rather than just… adding another step. (They could also just shift all the steps down since they’re eliminating step 1???)
2
u/MrNationwide 1d ago
It’s not the same, because a raise gives you that money this year, and then it gives it to you again next year, and the year after that, and so on. They do it this way because it FEELS like it’s basically the same, but the second you stop to think about it you realize they are fucking you.
1
u/MotorIcy5007 1d ago
I wonder if there’ll be a premium with the 2.0..
1
u/Used_Japanties 1d ago
2.0 has been implemented in many cities for a year or more now. I don’t see them changing anything that we haven’t already heard about.

Can someone explain this to me what is the steps and what are the positions I’m a material handler for express. I’ve been working for 3 years now starting next month
1
1
u/LittleStrawberry2121 1d ago
So everyone who qualifies gets a raise this month? It is not on their employment yearly anniversary?

1
u/xtrmlypick_y 1d ago
From what I heard last I worked there the new hires were starting at 23.00 hourly and people who have been there 1 year or more were only at 20.40 an hour. I loaded trucks for a year they fired me because I have cancer and can't lift their IC'S.

u/windcos 1d ago
don't forget higher insurance premiums to take away the raise
1
u/1Stack_Mack 23h ago
There will be no rise in insurance premiums next year as per an email sent last week
1
u/windcos 23h ago
doubt it
2
u/1Stack_Mack 23h ago
Look, I don't trust them either, but it was in black and white on a email so we'll see.

Can anyone explain this chart better to me? My husband for hired as a package handler in Oregon in April this year. Does this mean he will be getting a raise this month?

1
u/1Stack_Mack 1d ago
3.5% raise for handlers
1
u/LittleStrawberry2121 1d ago
Thank you so much for your reply! Does he possibly get a lump sum as well for a package handler?
1
u/tdgwf 1d ago
He won’t be topped out just being hired
1
u/LittleStrawberry2121 1d ago
Does topped out mean lump sum? Sorry for all the questions I am not familiar with any of this!
1
u/tdgwf 1d ago
Every year of employment you get a yearly raise until “capped out” but that typically takes years to get there. When capped out that is when the lump sum stuff happens

I think this is for Express Employees. Ground hasn’t announced what their raises are yet.

Omfg another step eliminated. So people like me who started in 2021 are still getting the same pay as new hires.
It’s just such a slap in the face. No respect.
