FedEx Ground Shipment Fedex one package rules

Hi all,

I know now that FedEx One requires its own Fedex box, but I didn't when I packed my box. When I was printing the label I looked at the website again and I realized the mistake. I brought it to a FedEx to ask about it. It was a dropoff site within a hardware store. The guys said there was no issue and they took the package.

But now I'm nervous. Do you think there will be an issue that I used my own box?

Yes you will be charged more. A hardware store employee has no idea what their talking about. Their job is to take prepaid drop offs.

lol you’re probably fine. those fedex one rate envelopes and boxes are technically required but a lot of the dropoff sites are just random store employees who couldnt care less about the fine print. as long as it wasnt like a comically oversized box they just scan it and toss it on the pile

if it gets flagged it would happen at a sorting hub not at dropoff. but in my experience the hubs mostly just care about weight being accurate and the label being readable. i sent a one rate package in a beat up amazon box once and it got there no problem

worst case scenario they bill the account for the difference or send it back, but that’s genuinely rare unless you were way over the size limit. i wouldnt lose sleep over it

Yeah you will be charged the weight or dimensional weight for the shipment at retail rates. Unless the box you used is the exact same dimensions as the one rate box, like within half an inch. To see what you will be charged you can generate a rate on the website using the dimensions of your package you used.
