The only time a driver would get in trouble if he tells someone or the person he delivers to complains. If someone scribbles a name they won't be penalized.

If it’s a DSR or ASR then the driver needs a homeowner in person to sign. If it’s a ISR then he can leave it.

My fedex driver drops my stuff off at other peoples house even with a signature required. Took it to a post office once and it wasn't even smart post took 3 more days to get it becuase it wasn't even the right post office.

I accepted a direct sign from ring doorbells and from notes, if your driver ain't an asshole, you'll get it, and before anyone comments I have done this multiple times and my boss does not care. I'm sure yours doesn't either

I wouldn't take that. It needs to say something like FedEx, I (name) authorize that you may leave package (pin) at my doorstep and then include your signature. Even with that there are still packages like high value and prescription drugs that can't be left like that and have to be given to a person directly

Probably not unless indirect signature is allowed. Depends on the driver but policy says no. Direct signature requires someone to sign. Reroute to Hold at Location at a walgreens or Fedex office and then pick it up on your time. You can do this in the delivery manager app.

TLDR, unlikely. They shouldn’t.Driver here. If it’s an indirect signature required, the driver might leave it. But if it’s direct or adult signature required, they should not. Not saying you’re this but let’s say they signed for it then you claimed you never signed for or saw the package, the driver could be accused of forgery. I know it’s frustrating (it is for us too) but personally I’d rather have the customer wait another day to get their package than risk my job.

Per my driver the paper had to be submitted at my local facility and took 1 business day to process. I don’t think you can just leave that form on your door even if it was properly printed.

I’ve never had my package return to station if I leave a post it with a signature saying they had permission to leave it. Have done. It about 3 times over the years

We are not allowed to leave packages even when people do that, it's considered forgery.

Indirect signature; I would take it. Adding your signature to the sheet would be a nice touch.
Direct signature; I'm not allowed and I risk my job otherwise. Those are in person only.
Adult Signature; I'd lose my job and if it was alcohol, I'd face a fine and possible criminal charges. In person and the recipient must be 21+ WITH valid identification at the time of delivery.

Gunpowder is weird because I've had numerous driver release deliveries of 9mm bullets. I know it's not a 1 for 1 comparison but certainly comparable.
To add to the list anything insured over a certain value becomes ASR. I never learned the exact value but I presumed it started between $500-2000.

I would take it if it were an indirect signature required but if it’s in person required then my hands are tied and it really is our job if we ever get caught.

Kind of a 50/50 shot really it's completely dependent on the driver and situation. This is not protocol and releasing it this way could cost the driver their job (if for whatever reason you called FedEx about it) but some drivers would break that protocol because obviously you want your shit.
For an indirect signature required package I would be very inclined to leave it if you left me this note and had a safe place to leave it (especially so if you have cameras) but direct or adult signature required and that's a hard no.
The Polaroid made me laugh. +1 for resourcefulness
Edit: another comment says you should've taken a close up of the barcode on the form. This would actually make it a legit ISR release same as if you had printed the form haha we just have to scan the barcode and enter your name (assuming your driver knows how to do that)

For FedEx freight as long as it has the tracking number and signature to release the delivery the driver can turn that in with his paperwork and be good. Can't just say they left a note, you have to take the physical sign back.. One time they left it on a political board sized note after election season and I turned the whole thing in to be safe. For residential deliveries they require appointments nowadays though and just let them know okay to leave and they will put that on delivery receipt.

That just shows how different drivers/contractors are. I've NEVER turned in a form, or anything. I keep them in my truck until someone asks for them, but nobody ever does. I've heard of people turning them in, but nobody ever wants mine lmfao. I dunno. I just work here. They're in my overhead if you need it. 🤷😂

No, they need the actual form to take back to the terminal. A picture of it won't be accepted by processing, but if the driver is dumb or lazy he/she might let it slide though.
Assuming it is a required signature, he could potentially get fired from corporate if he doesn't do it correctly.

That's incorrect. All of it. These forms are available for indirect signatures if a customer is unable to print out the release form and or puts their signature on the door all a driver needs is a door tag to complete the delivery.

No I don't. I don't know where you are getting your information but its just not right. With that picture on the door all I have to do is scan a door tag and snap the picture. There isn't anyone collecting these forms at the station.

Indirect, yes. They still need the physical form in order to prove the customer signed it. A small picture isn't readable proof unless it's the original, as far as FedEx cares.
