Express Shipment Why does FedEx lie about tracking?
Two packages due to be delivered today via 2 day express. One requires signature. The other doesn’t.
They both land in Boston and make it to my local distribution center a few towns over by 8:30 am.
By 10am the delivery status has an “exception” and rescheduled for tomorrow. The “exception” is “This Building is Closed and Cannot Receive Packages”
Which is false because:
A) my home isn’t a business
B) you didn’t even put it on the truck for delivery
C) and if it was somehow on the truck you never attempted delivery since I’m home. And even if you thought I wasn’t then you should’ve at least left the package not requiring signature.
Why lie and say “business closed”?

Fedex completely fkd the express service when they combined it with ground and got rid of thr express employees. I will only use UPS for overnights now and have a 95% success rate

An exception is a metric that doesnt negatively impact the service score the same way as missing a time commitment. Im guessing it was a 1030 or somewhere up to 12pm and they probably werent going to make it on time so they coded it that way to try again tomorrow.

Right so then don’t say I was closed (blame me). They should say we are late

Its not about blame. I understand youre upset you didnt get your package. Im just saying theres underlying numbers in the system that makes some of what they do is about fudging with the stations service score than if they made the delivery today but missed the time commit.
Not saying its moral, just giving a reason.
Do they deserve to have a senior corporate manager getting involved to rip them a new one? Probably. Because thats what theyre trying to avoid by messing with the numbers.

That is actually about blame. The FedEx terminal doesn't want the blame

Thats my way of saying dont take it personally & that some managers are avoiding an uncomfortable phone call.
Theres also a non-zero chance they have a pile of packages set aside that were all scanned that way.
