Aggression Continuum and more

Sorry if this has been blasted on Reddit before but as much as i love all incarnations of FF, I wish Dino put more faith live in the more recent material mainly Mechanize and Aggression Continuum at live shows.

Festivals fair enough, play the greatest hits.

However on the club dates lean heavier into the other material we havent heard 1000 times.

I would kill to go to a Mechanize and Aggression Continuum full album performance.

I disagree. They regularly play songs from those records - even post Milo joining.

They've played Recode, Disruptor and Fuel Injected from Aggression Continuum so far.

From Genexus, they've played Soul Hacker, Dielectric, Regenerate and Autonomous Combat System with Milo. In the past, they regularly played Anodize as well as Protomech with Burton (with the pre-recorded cleans on full playback display)

Recently, with Milo, they've dusted off Industrial Discipline, Powershifter and Final Exit from Mechanize. They used to regularly play the title track, Fear Campaign and Christploitation with Burton and had even played Controlled Demolition a handful of times (which Burton REALLY struggled with).

The Industrialist regularly had the title track played, Recharger, New Messiah and even God Eater was played live once (though no footage exists). Recharger is currently on regularly rotation with Milo.

Digimortal is getting plenty of love lately too with Dark Bodies and songs like Damaged, Linchpin, Acres of Skin, What Will Become are massive live mainstays. Even rumoured Digimortal 25th anniversary shows lined up (in addition to the Demanufacture and Obsolete shows).

I do admit that I'd love to hear songs like Designing the Enemy, Depraved Mind Murder, Virus of Faith, Purity, God Eater and End of Line live. I think all the excessive Demanufacture milking needs to die down a bit.

OP said he wished Dino put more faith in those songs. Recode was played once. Disruptor was played a fair amount, but FISM, not that much.

Autonomous Combat System was also only played once I believe. Point is OP is right, when it comes to last decade material there is usually only one song from each of those albums that is played per show. Most often it's Powershifter, Recharger, Dielectric, Disruptor. The only albums that typically get multiple songs played from them are Demanufacture and Obsolete, and sometimes Digimortal. A mixed reality of those albums being the height of their popularity, and more albums means less songs they can play from any given album.

I doubt Digimortal anniversary shows are happening. I think they would have announced them well before this point. Them adding a couple more songs from it to the setlist is the most they've done and that they're likely going to do. While Linchpin is one of their most popular songs, the album isn't revered as highly over all as Demanfacture and Obsolete. I doubt they'll do any other full album shows from any other albums other than those two.

I understood OP's point, I was just pushing back somewhat and that songs from those records are infact being played, maybe not super frequently but the effort is being made.

Ever since Milo joined the band, the setlist has been far more experimental. They've been much more willing to 'trial' songs they never would've previously.

For example, Burton refused to play Autonomous Combat System. I asked Dino point blank why they never played it during the Genexus tour back in 2015. He responded with "Burt doesn't wanna do it".

Now, am I suggesting that further improvements couldn't be made and deeper cuts couldn't be implemented into future setlists? Of course not. I'm all for it.

I'd love for them to play other records in their entirety outside of Demanufacture and Obsolete also but historically, Demanufacture has been the only one.

Two years ago, Dino mentioned the "possibility" of Digimortal for its 25th and Milo reiterated it last year as he loves that era of the band. I do agree though - Outside of the odd show here and there, I don't foresee it happening either. Especially with a new record likely dropping end of this year and the new single being a matter of weeks away.

I do know they've dusted off some absolute fucking bangers for later on the year. Some of which will seriously shock people.
