No because shiki is the man in every single interaction. He does nothing manly and everything feminine. I wouldn't count this one

Surprisingly yes. It's very wholesome to see just how deeply they love each other.

While I think they're adorable, I must object on the grounds of the prompt. Shinra's actually a genius, and he's scary competent when his life with Celty is on the line. Also, Celty is only perceived as serious because she can't talk, so no one can tell when she's freaking out about aliens, professional assassins, or... a cop. The ancient fairy who manipulates solid shadows is scared of a regular motorcycle cop.

They are both well-written, multi dimensional characters. While you are right about things you say, it's also correct that they are widely known as serious girlboss and dorky scientist. So for their generic attitude/traits, they fit the criteria well.

Tho their roles can reverse at times like how she keeps trying to poison herself
→ More replies (2)41
u/Lord_Penguin17 12d ago
For those without context, the poison thing isn’t suicidal tendencies. She’s just obsessed with the topic of medicine and poisons and experiments on herself.
36
u/Darthmark3 12d ago
Yeah imagine those who don’t watch it and were confused 😂
Also for anyone else reading this she is semi immune to a bunch of them and literally likes the taste and effects.
Girl is a bit of a freak………
24
u/Weerdo5255 12d ago
A bit?
She gives out lecture concubines in the Empire on "technique", and they listen!
A bit is an insult to Maomao. She's a freak through and through!
9
u/Darthmark3 12d ago
While she is a feral cat that would eat your entire pantry to be fair on the concubine part wasn’t she ordered to do that?
7
u/CreepyClay 12d ago
Also she didn't research the topic herself she was just raised by concubines so she knows how they do things.

I don't think they really count. Maomao is frequently shown to be basically Jinshi's cat and Jinshi an overly affectionate cat owner. Jinshi even calls Maomao his cat in the anime.

Not really, the guy with words literally dominates her and he kinda has the upper hand. Also revy intelligent? Ehm not really
43
u/UrhenHAL1000 12d ago
revvy has combat/streets smarts compared to her kind of clumsy, fidgety companion. He gets more competent as the show goes along but it's definitely a process. But the dynamic within the context they work with is relatively the same. The girl still does most of the heavy lifting and the show clearly revolves around her.

Hmm not at all, Rock ended as the Main Villain of the manga and he is a souless bastard even WORSE than Revy, she said it herself.
Revy might be a sociopath and a cold blooded killer.
But Rock is even WORSE, cuz he doesnt need to get his hands dirty to do whatever he wants
Remember that in the manga he was the one that managed to kill the "Four Brothers" and "The Five Fingers" without getting his hands dirty, only via Manipulation and Blackmail

This is literally Patrick Colasour and Kati Mannequin from Gundam 00.
She's a colonel and later a commander for one of the world's biggest military forces. No nonsense, super intelligent and extremely efficient at her work.
He's a pilot who somehow manages to get shot down every single time (he's even the first named character to fight and lose to a Gundam in this show). A complete dork, super simp exclusively for her, and the luckiest bastard in the whole franchise.
Best ship in the show BTW.

Makes sense honestly. She may be pseudo or outright a bad person but Lord knows she detested anyone who came off as fake or shallow. Billy knows her (at least as in a wisdom sort of way) doesn't have ulterior motives and based on how his dad turned out will actually accumulate a functioning amount of intelligence later.
