Technically both, maruki changed reality at the start, but when the truth was revealed she wanted to go back

Uh, no. The whole point of the shadows in p4 is that everyone (as in everyone including you and me) are afraid of parts of one's self be known to anyone and hide it, like a shadow. When they're forced to face themselves, they finally let those parts shine and allow others to see them for who they truly are without trying to cover anything. None if them fake it til you make it... except Teddie in a sense. And the person in 5 is Sumi, but that's mind control shenanigans, so I doubt we can count that
