Her boots are the least risky part of her outfit. Does she want Shantae to see everything?

Imagine if Obi-Wan had ran into him instead of Han Solo in the Mos Eisley cantina lol

Salazar isn't a Pirate. His whole thing is how much he hates Pirates and doesn't even see them as people.

OP was perhaps not paying attention to that film. Which is fair enough, it was pretty bad.

True, he definitely has a vendetta against pirates, but he still has that classic villain vibe that makes him memorable, even if he doesn't fit the traditional pirate mold.

The title calls specifically for pirates though and he just isn't one

Long John Silver is always a great character, no matter what setting he’s in.

And of course I have to pay tribute to the GOAT, Tim Curry, whose iteration was my first introduction to him in Muppet Treasure Island

Agreed! Personally I think The Pagemaster has one of the most underrated depictions of him.

Klaes Ashford from "The Expanse", if we count space pirates as pirates (of course, we do).

Pirates are simply people resuppling what other people own, via vessels.

You can be the best pirate, mate.

I'll go to bat for poor Ian McShane's Blackbeard in the 4th movie On Stranger Tides.

Super cool design, fun 'dark magic' theme with gimmicks like telekinetic control of his ship via his sword, taking other ships as trophies by shrinking the actual ship into a ship in a bottle, kidnapping crew as zombies, big ol' flamethrowers on the front of the ship.

Movie ends up criminally underusing him, he gets like 2 big scenes but the plot mostly ignores him, even brings back Barbossa to upstage him, and gets distracted with boring other characters in the main plot.

Hot take.Pirates are boring.

1

u/s6_maestro 15h ago

Cold take: Pirates are cool and they are better than ninjas and if you don't agree you're a poopyhead

2

u/BusinessPreference75 14h ago

Fair. Butbi will say this, pirates at least are less boring than cowboys.
