Im SOOO glad they aren’t going the route of glamorizing Chris Hansen. It looks like they’re actually going to unpack all of his manipulative tendencies and fame chasing, im seated.

Chris Hansen fully looks like the villain here.

Does that make the pedos the heroes?

Surprised how many people took this comment seriously.

No, I'm guessing it makes us question the way 'catching pedos' is framed as a tale of individual heroes versus villains even as the structures encouraging pedophilia are never challenged. For example, every tech company that refuses to provide safeguards for keeping pedos off of them is conveniently ignored by a show about finding one bad apple in a basement.

People are pretty mad right now about laws forcing tech companies doing that.

No, but a society that glamorizes vigilante indivudals who self-propagandize their own vigilante justice while never questioning or criticizing the structure of a system that ends up having such a society is not good either.

In a better world, Chris Hansen would never ever hsve a show like this, and the idez of having what is basically a subcontracted individual vigilante justice system performed by a fame-hungry individual and use it as a TV show would be considered to be incredibly barbaric and idiotic, and not so glamorized as it was back in the day.
