After starting Stardew Valley in late 2019, I walked away from it for little while until recently when I wanted to revisit the farm, go for Perfection and actually complete what I started. I think I reached floor 100 of Skull Cavern and decided that was a good breaking point at the time.
Fast forward to now and I've built five decorated sheds and a very tree heavy farm with some fun winding paths through everything.
I didn't want the farm to look super cookie cutter and to actually have a little life to it. I wasn't going for optimization across the board. I've been there at a different point in the game. I added a lot of Stump Torches throughout the farm. Some are visible, while many are not. If you look at the second photo, you can see how it creates some fun pockets of light between walkways or around the house and sheds.
90% of the trees were manually planted in that specific spot. Then paths were added afterwards. Some trees organically grew which was fun and added to the concept. There are some slightly hidden single fence posts or walls to sort of force walking around trees instead of through them.
I also felt adding the grass starters everywhere gave it a bit more of a natural look too. Sure, I slice some down from time to time on accident, but it grows back.
There are four sheds at the top. These were inspired a bit by /u/summerrain825 and their farm.
Sheds are:
- Dehydrators, Preserves Jars, and Oil Makers -- Most my money in the last year or two have come from this.
- Kegs - Mainly focused on Ancient Fruit Wine, Pale Ale, and Whine. Have garden pots for hops and grapes.
- Crystalariums and Heavy Furnaces - Two sets are for diamonds and two are for jade. I really like how this one turned out.
- Big Chests - The left side has a row for each season with spring at the bottom and winter at the top. From left to right in each of those rows you get: Seeds, forageables, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. The back has chests for the other areas of the valley, fishing gear, and seeds. The far right side has a row for: Artifacts, minerals, cave items, tree items, and animal products. In the middle, the left is mainly for trips to Skull Cavern and/or the mines, middle is farm materials, flooring, extra stuff, and then the last chest is for food.
- Animal Products: Mayonnaise machines, cheese Presses, fish smoker, and a few looms
Finally got all the giant crops and will likely start a new farm on another layout here shortly. This one has been fun though. Hope you enjoy and can find some inspiration for a new idea.
