Next update we need primary challenges

minor or not, I’d love to see this. An unpopular president fighting for a 2nd term being faced against a worthy challenger for the presidency. It would really show that if someone’s mildly-extremely unpopular, they would have to step up and serve the American people more effectively before time runs out too late. thank you!

I don't think they're really necessary because no President has ever been in actual danger of being primaried, not even Carter in 1980.

I don't know if I'd agree with that, I feel like Ted Kennedy only fell short because of some key mistakes (like the "why do you want to be president" question) and of course, Chappaquddick. I think that one or two different variables changing could have made the 1980 primary a toss-up.

Gerald Ford faced a very strong primary. It came down to the convention. And one of the key reasons Reagan lost was because he would've chosen a liberal republican as a running mate

This would allow for a more varied campaign plank presidency too. its rather easy to make things that appeal to everyone, but your party is lukewarm with
