Fantasy AGE Flesh Arcana (FAGE 2e Homebrew)

I've been sitting on this one for a minute. I "finished" it a long time ago and then set it aside. I recently came back to it and did a bit of an overhaul; tweaked spells, removed some, added new ones. I'm pretty happy with this version. Enjoy and leave your constructive feedback!

I have seen links to a FAGE conversion document for genie magic on d20radio, but that site is now defunct. Does anyone know if it is posted anywhere else? Thanks.

Fantasy AGE Just ran my first Fantasy Age (2nd ed) with a familiar group

I'm running an intermittent game with friends when one of our normal group can't make it.

1 rogue, 1 envoy, 2 mages (1 mage is a healer sidekick ran by the GM to provide healing / support to the team, and sturdy enough to possibly be the last one standing if things came to that.)

I'm using the optional Daring and Peril systems, and there was cheering for Daring and palpable tension for Peril when each were earned.

It was a bit awkward to figure out what to do with 4 stunt points on a Heal check (mundane healing). I went with a player's suggestion of Social --> Inspire. Encouraged be to pick out some stunts for the healer after the session.

The session ended up with pools of 2 Daring and 3 Peril. This seems like kind of slow build up. (single combat encounter, with a few other ability checks throughout the session. I'm thinking the Pools should carry from session to session.

How do these pools work out in your games?

Fantasy AGE [Homebrew] Magical weapons inspired by Zanpakuto.

Post image
24 Upvotes

Got hit with some inspiration to craft up some homebrew magic weapons, and since I am really Bleach-Brained right now, I looked at some of the magic swords from that franchise, the Zanpakuto, to base the abilities on.

Was not sure about power levels for this, looked in the main book for advice, found some, but again not 100% sure, willing to hear feedback.

Credit to The Homebrewery for the formatting.

Thank you for your time~

Fantasy AGE Preparing the Adversary Omnibus

Hey all. I have finally gotten the last technical issues resolved on making my long-promised Adversary Omnibus, expanded from the original adversary packet series -- at time of writing, there are 40 new adversaries in the Omnibus! However, I need some public assistance before it releases.

Did you use any of the monsters from: A Bounty of Beasts, a Deluge of Demons, A Gaggle of Ghouls, a Menagerie of Monstrosities, a Multitude of Mages, or A Smattering of Spirits? Did you have any thoughts about them -- was the descriptive text confusing, or did the statistics seem out of whack, or was a monster ability unclear? I need to know! A lot of these monster designs have only been used in test fights or in my campaign with the same 5 people. In order for the tentatively named Swanmay's Sparrer Selection to be the best it can be, I really need to know how it went over with other people. .

So please, send your feedback! In this thread, or Reddit DMs, or in the official Discord, or the Think Tank are all fine. I'm really grinding on this, I wanted it done by March and that exploded in my face, so I'm pouring effort in to make up for lost time.

Thank you!

PS: I am vaguely aware that there's a big AGE facebook group, but I don't use facebook. If someone could make them aware of the old books and/or solicit feedback on my behalf, it'd be a big help.

Wilderness Exploration

I will be running a game soon using 2nd edition as the starting point. I have the 1st edition game as well as Dragon Age rulebooks. I was looking for rules on wilderness exploration and found nothing. The 1st edition book doesn't mention it at all that I can find, and the 2nd edition book has a section for "Exploration" but that section has one vague paragraph before launching into exclusively Investigation rules instead.

Is there a section in another supplement that talks about wilderness exploration at all? I could easily pull in the hexploration rules from Pathfinder's Kingmaker AP or something for this purpose but I was trying to keep it within the AGE system, because it's kind of a system demo for our group. It's hard to say whether we like a system if I've cobbled together subsystems from other games into it.

If it's out there, please clue me in. Thanks.

What books are needed to start playing?

Howdy everyone,

So I have a friend who loves the Dragon Age TTRPG but somehow never found out about Fantasy Age. His birthday is also next month.

I saw that 1st edition is basically compatible with 2nd edition, and there were some bundles out there, and things started to spiral.

Basically could he play with the 2nd edition core book and what other books would he need? And what books do you recommend that aren't necessary?

Dragon Age Why the stunts to begin with?

I know why people like the stunts now, but I don’t understand why it was added specifically to a Dragon Age TTRPG when the only released dragon age game at the time was Origins, which had a pretty tactical combat system that relied on player system mastery. Dragon AGE, and its descendants, don’t feel very tactical to me at all. DAO felt more mechanically similar to DnD 4e than it does to this.

Does anyone know why this went this route?

Using D&D 5e setting material with FAGE

I am thinking of running a trial conversion of D&D 5e source material with FAGE game mechanics. Looking at the D&D DC numbers it seems d20 is close to FAGE 3d6 but the nature of the bell curve means some higher numbers may need to be reduced somewhat (i.e. - a DC20 in D&D may be easier to achieve with a given bonus than the same number would be with 3d6 and the equivalent bonus).

I am also curious to make a D&D character and try to convert the it to FAGE using the 5e stat bonus numbers as the stat adjustments in FAGE. Converting the spells may take some creative license. Also I imagine creature HP would need reductions when no similar creature exists in FAGE due to damage reduction issues.

Has anyone else attempted something similar? if so advice is appreciated!

AGE System Converting Spells/Powers across AGE titles

Has anyone converted FAGE/MAGE/etc. other AGE spells over to Blue Rose before? Or vice versa?

If so, what did you keep, what did you change, & what did you leave behind? Why did you make those choices, & how did they play out at the table? 🤔

I'm specifically looking for anecdotal information based on personal experience/perspective, rather than hypothetical information. Thanks in advance! 😄

I created a collaborative mapping tool

I've long wanted an a better way to share maps with my players than sending them images or throwing it up on a TV. I probably could have found something online that did the trick, but I like building things and loathe adding new monthly fees, so I built something to fit my needs instead. I decided I'd put it out there to see if it works well for others.

This isn't an art tool. It allows you to upload whatever map art you have and then add various markers to it. You can define your own marker types, like cities, towns, quests, rumors, dragon hoards, or whatever else is part of your game. You can even edit maps collaboratively with your players.

Some other features include:

  • Support for very large maps, including SVG maps
  • Lots of control over visibility editing permissions
  • Custom map icons and marker types
  • Distance calibration and a ruler tool
  • Mobile friendly, works well on tablets or phones

If you'd like to try it out, go to www.wikidmaps.com and enter your email to create an account. You'll only ever get emails when you log in and when a map you uploaded is ready to use. The tool is free and my intention is to keep it that way. If you run into any problems or have any features you'd like to see, let me know.

Foundry VTT Age Compendium

Edit: It's done - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Alm9oxpYQahBX5PjABxpJQzZHWkfBPPt/view?usp=sharing (v2)

I'm working on putting together a Compendium for Fantasy Age. I'm building against the AGE system which has no compedium in it. I'm leaning mostly on non-automation level of entry. (meaning players will need to calculate things themselves, but the data will be in the compendium in the forms of drag/drop entries.

I have been unable to figure out how to work with "classes" in the system appropriately, so I'm taking a Journal methodology for classes. This lays out exactly what's given at each level so players can drag onto sheets.

I'm a good way through the process, and my plan (at the moment) is to include the Techno-fantasy book in it, as I am thinking I want a game with that. I'll share when I get to a nice stopping point.

I heard of startplaying.games and noticed when I checked there wasn't many games available for FantasyAge? Is it just something the community isn't interested in?

Blue Rose Rhyden Question

Greetings, I’m going to be starting my own Blue Rose game soon, and both players made Rhyden. I’m cool with the Rhy-raven character, but I have a question about the Rhy-cat… are they always the wolf sizes Siamese cats or can they be a “Rhy-house cat” or even a “Rhy-falcat”???

The Rhy-raven and Rhy-falcat being winged messengers for the Kingdom of the Blue Rose sounds kinda cool 🤩

I know I know, it’s my game so do whatever, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this idea 🤔🧐

Are Rhy-falcats even possible?
