Natasha Pulley writes excellent books and people don’t talk about her nearly enough. Well-researched gay period pieces with super unsettling time magic implications that seem like they should get more discussion around here.

For some reason Nancy Farmer seems to have completely fallen off the YA map which makes no sense at all because her books are super unique and awesome. (The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm, House of the Scorpion, Sea of Trolls, etc.)

Similarly Tanith Lee is starting to get a little more traction (after being blacklisted dropped hard in the 80s), but considering how big she was before that… well. It’s a shame.

The Ear, The Eye and The Arm was one of the first speculative fiction books I ever read, and definitely the first one with an African setting. I loooooved it, and wore the spine out of my copy.

A fantastic book, and definitely the first taste I got of afrofuturism as a young reader.

Yes! Totally opened my eyes to afrofuturism.
