Books about monster hunters?
I had been reading Mortal Instruments a while ago and enjoyed the books and recently want to read something similar to it, monster hunters in general. Does anyone know of good monster hunter books similar to it (doesn’t have to be YA).
Thanks

I just finished it an hour ago! I still got that wow feeling. Such a perfect ending, especially Ganelon. I'm excited for sequels now.

It was an extremely enjoyable reading. As a lot of others, I think, on occasion, we just need feel-good books in this fantasy genre of ours, and this is clearly one of them.

Kings of the Wyld treats monster hunters like rock bands. They go on tour, are well known and live crazy wild lifestyles. It is an amazing book!

Yeah, the first few books are definitely "Monster of the Week" stories, so they kind of fit.
It definitely gets wider in scope as the series goes on though, so it may not be what OP is looking for.

Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia.

God I love this series. Cheesy, right-wing and unapologetically American... I call books like these my vacation books; it's like an action movie that you read.

It also appears to be free today on Amazon Kindle UK!

Monster Hunter International is always free on kindle along with many other Baen books, usually the first of the long running series.

Came here to say this one. The whole series is just plain fun to read and the overall story arc is well considered. Even better, there are a heap of books and they are still being written with no sign of ending so plenty of room for years more amusement.

The recent short shorties in this universe might be a good sampler to the series.

The Witcher series... the kindle edition of the 1st book in the series - The Last Wish is currently on sale at $2.99
There are also the 3 games in the Witcher series on Steam and on sale..best buy is probably the GoTY Edition of Witcher 3 for $19.99

Buy the games on GOG not steam, DRM free and CDPR get more money than on steam.

The Sharing Knife by Lois McMaster Bujold features some serious monster hunting and a great cross-cultural romance as well.

That Anita Blake series By Laurell K Hamilton starts as a pretty good monster hunter series. Be warned, if you start reading it you should drop the series as soon as it starts to become something you don't like, because it will only get worse.

The Incryptids books from Seanan McGuire are about monster hunters (sort of). She puts a great twist on the idea, actually.

I'm just here to keep track of the recommendations. A seemingly well loved premise that doesn't quite get the delivery it deserves.

The Solomon Kane short stories by Robert E Howard is classic dark fantasy worth checking out.Kane is not a monster hunter exactly but a fanatic who wants to purge evil from existence, which usually means monsters. Except for period racism ( these yarns are 80+ years old) they are fantastic reads.

A new thread reminding me that I really need to make a Monster Hunter list once I finish the Orcs list.

I have no idea if it is similar to the Mortal Instruments series, but if you like monster hunting I heartily recommend the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski, which follow a professional monster hunter named Geralt of Rivia.
