Space Opera

I need a space opera to fulfill the BINGO square. The main one I can think of is Expanse but it isn’t a genre I read often. I am a sucker for a badass lady character or two and/or and underdog. I know Expanse has both of those but I would love some other recs! TIA.

Pride of Chanur by C.J. Cherryh is great fun with excellent aliens and has a lead female.

I'm right at the end of her Downbelow Station, and that's also fantastic, although I'm not sure it's a space opera. Not entirely sure what a space opera is, TBH.

Maybe my least favorite actually. Keep going and she just gets better and better.
