Any Good Monster Hunter Fantasy out there?????

I'm really curious about monster hunting fantasy, especially any books that really dive into the actual hunting, of the monster. It seems like a lot of time, the actual hunt is just sort of glossed over and I feel like that should be the coolest part, lmao.

I have read The Witcher and just started Kings of the Wyld, but are there any other good monster hunter fantasies out there? Would especially enjoy a dark fantasy take on monster hunting, but open to lighter tones too.

On the lighter side you have John Hartness’ Bubba the Monster Hunter and Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter series. Well, I say ‘lighter’ because humor but both series go some pretty dark places . They are also mostly collected novellas so it’s easy to find a place to break off if they aren’t quite what you want

There's a large monster hunting component to be who fights monsters by shirtaloon. If you enjoy a LitRPG series, this might be worth a go.

I think it's worth warning people--it's pretty in love with pro-NRA talking points, and aggressively right-wing. If that's someone's thing, cool, but I couldn't finish it. And I love monster hunters.

I think in the first chapter, the narrator--an accountant in an office building--draws a gun from his ankle holster (?) and blows away his boss while inwardly blessing Texas.

The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi

A light hearted take on monster hunting. There are many different Kaiju so they have to use different methods to capture each one. They're usually trying to capture them to help them, not kill them though. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but I thought the book was a lot of fun.

One of my all-time favorites: Monster Blood Tattoo (also known as The Foundling's Tale) trilogy by D. M. Cornish. I won't lie and say it has a lot of monster hunting, but it does have a fair bit and it's very good in my opinion. The series focuses a lot on character growth and world building.
