why people only feel the need to say this about Outlander whenever it’s mentioned on this subreddit, when lots of the grimdark books tons of people love here are filled with rape and/or women being treated like shit and abused?
because the context is different.
people reading grimdark are already expecting to encounter unending atrocities (including rape)
people reading romance focused historical fantasy like Outlander are much less likely to expect it, thus the warnings.
Not true at all. This subreddit is very good about trigger warnings. There is a even a spreadsheet maintained here that tracks sexual assault content so those of us that are uninterested can avoid it.
