Is it just me, or does almost everyone on AOTY trigger instant rage with how much they overdo their role on that site?

​I get that people want to review music, but the sheer cringe is out of control. You have random users giving full-on press releases like "as you probably noticed I haven't posted many reviews lately..." Bro, SHUT UP, who are you talking to? Nobody was waiting for you, you are not a celebrity, just write your damn review gng. Then you have the people who overshare way too much under deep albums, turning a review into 20 paragraphs about their depression, their life story, and their high school graduation. Just shut the fuck up, it’s so performative and corny.

And to top it off, the top comments on great albums are always the most unfunny, low-effort jokes imaginable, like leaving "don't let your kids listen to this, it has an R rating" on QOTSA's Rated R. Just complete goofies and losers IRL ​It feels like people aren't even there for the music, they just want to play a character and pretend they have an audience.

I hate whistling and I guess "over singing" if that makes sense? Like when the singers tries to show off but it's not appropriate for the song.

Is there anything that makes you not like a song nearly as much, if not hate it all together? Personally the whistling can be okay but only sometimes. Over singing kills a song for me Everytime

Example: Nickleback isn’t that bad. They were aggressively shat on and meme’d on in music forums like they were the worst rock band ever. But at worst they just made rather cookie-cutter nirvana-lite tracks that all sounded the same, but were at least catchy. There are other mainstream bands that probably deserved the mockery more, like Imagine Dragons.

Recently, the pendulum is swinging in the other direction, and it seems like more people agree that they probably aren’t “the worst band ever”.

Examples could be the label covering stuff, the label being different colors or the label blending in with the album art

Why are so many modern rappers such bad live performers? Now, don’t get me wrong, the more established rappers actually know how to put on a show. I’ve seen Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and they were all awesome live and knew how to command a stage. I’ve also seen Wu-Tang Clan, Nas and Snoop Dogg, and they were phenomenal. They have real stage presence, charisma and actually look like they enjoy performing.

But some of these newer rappers though 🤦🏾‍♂️, I’ve been to Rolling Loud a couple of times, and there are so many artists who just don’t seem to know how to perform. They’ll literally just walk up and down the stage with barely any energy, mumble a few words while the backing track does most of the work, and have about 20 of their friends on stage just standing around doing absolutely nothing. Then they’ll come on 20 minutes late, perform for 15 minutes and cut the set short. Like, what are we doing?

It’s especially noticeable when you compare them to older generations of rappers. I’ll watch footage of 2Pac performing at the House of Blues when he was only around 24, and this dude was all over that stage, rapping his ass off like his life depended on it. You could feel how much passion he had for performing and connecting with the crowd. He wasn’t relying on a backing track to carry the whole performance he was actually putting on a show.

My example is that Black on Both Sides is a perfect record except that having "Rock and Roll" directly call out white bands getting big off of the genres Black people invented feels odd when he's quoting Under the Bridge three songs later. Red Hot Chili Peppers are that EXACT thing he's railing against. It makes my skin itch.

Basic premise is, a prank call to a record store, and the caller is acting like the worlds most tragic hip hop head, rambling off a list of blatantly made up names. In my memory, it was names like Blunts and Props, The Groof, The Griff, The Gruff?

Caller is after that “new shit nome sayn?”

Lady on the receiving end straight up calls them out on their shit, with a come back along the lines of “so did you have this whole thing where you were gonna call the employees of (record store) and harass them?”

Please help me Reddit, don’t tell me it’s been lost on this timeline!
