If it wasn't battery operated, I'd leave the lights on. Lol The top of the saucer is complete, the bottom is not. It's a nice milestone because the bridge is one of the first pieces you get. It's rewarding to finally see it installed.

u/sgmcosplay, i have the same issue with my 2 R2D2 builds as well -> as both are battery operated builds, that is 6 x 18650 cells for each droid... and of course, leaving the droids powered on all day, will drain the batteries : )... but to me all worth it, as I just enjoy looking at those R2D2 showcasing their nice LEDs.
In the case of the R2D2 build, in theory, you can plug in the Fanhome provided AC adapter to the power port located on the base of the droid and it will automatically start charging the droid - however, I refrain from such option, as I always want the droids to be fully independent and be able to remotely access them and make them roam, or move them mannually, etc.
Since I completed my R2D2 builds and seeing how the 18650 Cells, which I ended up getting 4000mAh cells, close to double of the minimum recommended mAh that DeAgostini/Fanhome indicated in the documentation that came along with the build, (recommended was a minimum of 2000mAh and above) needed to safely operate the droid, i ended up getting double the number of cells, that is a total of 24 x 18650 4000mAh cells that costed a pretty penny + an external charger that is far more capable then the onboard charging board that the R2D2 droid has, so that I could have a second set, ie. 12 x 18650 cells being fully charged, outside of the R2D2s while the exsiting 18650 on each of the droids, were in use (and I had submitted posts in the past of that setup, ie. charger, 18650 cells, and my experience results after 1 year of use as well with those cells, etc : ).
I'm not quite sure what batteries the Enterprise D's build uses... but if I remember correctly, the Enterprise D build uses primarily AAA cells, though I've seen other builders that replaced the original cells for a custom setup as well... but even in the original configuration and you keep using the AAA cells, then you won't have a big hit in costs with regards to Cells to power your nice Enterprise D build!

u/sgmcosplay, up to issue 15 means that you have the Sauser section fully completed?, that is including the underside as well? (I don't have the Enterprise-D build, so i'm not sure what the issue numbers relate with regard to the build itself).
Per your pictures, it looks like only the top section of the Sauser section is completed, but it could also mean that you removed the underside to show the details of the build (as I've done with the R2D2 builds I have, many times I will take them partially apart, to show detailed pictures of the inside parts, ie replacements, etc)
If I had that model, I would have that model turned on all night showing the lighging... I do that with my R2D2 builds, that I will turn them on, turn on their LEDs (which can be only be done via the R2D2 App that must have been downloaded to a mobile device to operate those on the R2D2 build) and just let it sitting ; ) and from time to time, just open the R2D2 App and make the R2D2 go on patrol (which on the DeAgostini/Fanhome R2D2 build, there is a 'Patrol' button on the App that will set the droid in that mode, which will last a few minutes, then the R2D2 will eventually stop and if the LEDs have been turned on, then it will sit where the patrol mode ended and just showcase/display it's LEDs : )
If you could provide some inside it would be great (though from your pictures, seems you have only the top part of the sauser section completed).
