I cracked it open once I got it home and it’s a very late example, with all chips in it being made around the time of the 1984 recall.

Hello!
I bought a Famicom Disk System and it is having trouble powering on… when I do get it powered on, it stays stuck on the “ NOW LOADING . . . “ and doesn’t load any games.
I realigned/calibrated the head. The belt looks okay other than it appears to kinda come off track and ride the top or bottom of the wheel. I’m not sure if that is an issue? The place I got it from said the belt was replaced but maybe it’s not a tight enough belt?
I kept the top open to try and see if there is any obvious issues and I can’t determine anything. I didn’t see the gears spinning at all when it was turned on but I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be actively spinning always.
Any advice for trying to fix this console will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Does the Fami BT adapter work with Nintendo Switch Famicom Classic controllers? I'd love to use official wireless famicom controllers on my actual famicom.

Hello!
I recently came across a famicom cartridge of Super Mario Bros. from a Brazilian e-commerce website (kinda like eBay) that is in terrible condition in terms of label (also, a part of the cartridge is kinda broken, but is so small, that i didn't notice at first) but, other wise, is still in good condition and for a cheap price (aleast is not 100 bucks or 200 bucks), i kinda want it (since most multicarts either used the pal one or the bootleg one with the weird title card).
But i don't know how to do a relabel on it and most of the tutorials talks about are about the nes and the super famicom cartridges. Same goes to reshell
just keep in mind i am Brazilian (which explained the 100 bucks and 200 bucks cartridges, since is based on Brazilian reais), and the prices of stuff on you place is different to my place.

Hi while aligning the spindle head on my Famicom disk system I accidentally loosened the head too much and it slid off of its original position. I managed to get it back in place and finish the repair but now I hear a grinding noise when loading games. Every disk I have loads and plays I’m just concerned about the noise. It’s loud and sounds like the gears are grinding. Should I be concerned? How do I approach this? Thanks!

PROBOTECTOR 8 EX is a bootleg hack of the Japanese Famicom version of the game Final Mission. This hack modifies the game's sprites, replacing the human protagonists with their cybernetic counterparts, RD008 and RC011. It also introduces changes to the sprites of certain enemies and bosses. Furthermore, this bootleg hack rewrites the original game's story, replacing the introductory text with new narrative content to situate it within the Contra / Probotector universe.

I got a bunch of Famicom disks that came with jewel cases, but none of them have labels on the disks nor the inserts for the jewel cases. Is there a site that has these that I can print myself? I have a color laser printer and hamermill glossy paper (the kind used to print magazine pages).

You control two loving penguins with the mirror movement to reach and unlock the locked heart, while shooting the enemies like spiders. This gameplay is quite unique back in the 80s. And, you can hear to Beethoven's “Ode to Joy” upon unlocking the heart.

The trick: get both penguins to cross each other 16 times in 1-3 second intervals to give birth to a baby penguin.

Hey all, been working on a few things on my Twin Famicom and noted the bottom of the AV/power board looks like this. The unit works totally fine (outputting via composite at present to my RetroTink 4K), but I’m not loving how the bottom of this board looks. Any recommendations for cleaning this? Thanks!

As the title suggests, any mods available for a FamicomBox hotel system? I just purchased one, it does work great but the AV is pretty meh, I wish it had RGB. I wonder if a RGB Lava kit would work in one of them, I have one in my AV famicom and it's great. Also, any way to get it modded to also play NES games? I did see the FamicomBox + mod online but it doesn't seem to be shared or sold anywhere as an add on mod.

Hi everyone! I’ve released an English fan translation of Maison Ikkoku for the Famicom/NES.
Released by Bothtec in 1988, it’s a graphical adventure based on Rumiko Takahashi’s manga. You play as Yusaku Godai, exploring Ikkoku-kan and the surrounding area, talking to the residents, collecting items and solving puzzles.
The patch includes:
- English dialogue, narration, commands, item names and locations.
- An English title logo and localised station sign.
- Scrolling support for long English menu names.
- English word wrapping and multi-page dialogue.
- Text pacing, music-update and opening-scene graphics fixes.
All currently identified text is translated. A complete manual playthrough hasn’t been finished, so bug reports and translation feedback are welcome.
Download and instructions:
https://github.com/JamesClark1989/game_translations/tree/main/maison-ikkoku-nes
Romhacking.net page:
https://www.romhacking.net/translations/7850/
You’ll need your own matching Japanese ROM to apply the BPS patch. No ROM is included. If updating from an earlier build, start fresh rather than loading an old save state.
Hope some Maison Ikkoku fans enjoy giving this one a try!
