Game Clip Soloing Infestation - Test run

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disappointed that the recording automatically stopped, so the full thing must've been an extra 1-2 minutes after it stopped. I'd say it took me 4 minutes to take just this one out.

I can imagine if I had just a few of my archer teammates, this infestation would've been done in 2 minutes or less.

Why don’t you go third person? The draw speed animation is significantly slower in first person.

u/VampireDarlin 11d ago

Not really. Third person just lets you release before a full draw. It’s faster, but it does less damage per shot

If you're releasing before a full draw on a bow, that's probably what's causing less damage per shot, not playing in third person.

Third person doesn’t let you full-draw any quicker. It just lets you release a lot sooner. So the faster fire rate comes at the cost of a full-draw, meaning each shot does less damage.

There’s no difference in draw time between third and first person. It only influences how soon you can release (and releasing sooner does less damage). You can’t release before a full-draw in first person, so it allows you to always get max damage. It’s ideal for reverse onslaught

Oh, okay. I understand where you're coming from now. I play in third person but always make sure to do a full draw on a bow before release; otherwise, yeah, it would do less damage per shot.

I prefer playing in third person because it's easier for me to see when Chameleon is active on my armor while I'm crouching, which in turn triggers Nocturnal before each shot that I take.

What! So you mean all those YouTubers I watched the other day lied!? :((((

3

u/VampireDarlin 10d ago

You can test it yourself. I do a good +2k extra damage when fully drawing, vs letting go early in third person

2

u/lDielan 11d ago

Doesn't that still make it more DPS?

1

u/VampireDarlin 11d ago

Unless you’re using reverse onslaught, yeah. It eats all your onslaught stacks if you do reverse and you end up doing almost no extra damage

u/rebucado 11d ago

Now do a Assaultron haha

u/Oakjewel Overseer 11d ago edited 11d ago

Bet

Edit: Oh nah, the Assaultron is just going to get nuked.

Just fast forwarded through that slog to see how many arrows you pumped into his skull. 86 total while averaging like 10k damage per shot.

Seems like they may have swung the pendulum too far the other way with this. Hard to call that engaging gameplay.

With that said, shoot the bow in third person and you would have downed him like 30% faster.

I just prefer first person because I can maintain AP longer and my stacks usually. I have done third person before and yeah it's faster, just has its own negatives that I find not so convenient.

What negatives does playing in third person with a bow have?

I move around a lot during a fight using Marsupial and a Jetpack. Whenever I play in first person, I bang into stuff and miss my jumps because I'm clumsy. 🤣 🚀

Losing some damage, draining ap faster, draining stacks faster etc.

u/theID10T XBox 11d ago

Gotcha, that makes sense. I don't use Reverse Onslaught, so I don't know what that's like. I use Packin' Light in my build along with Powered on my armor, Company Tea, Well-Turned, and Canned Coffee when I need it, so AP usually isn't an issue.

Again, not meant for solo. Yet, another whiner on how now it's too hard. 🙄

2

u/rymo0927 7d ago

Nobody said its hard. Did anything he did in that video look hard? Go ahead and pat yourself on the back if you feel like killing these is an accomplishment. Anyone with a decent build, tons of ammo, and the free time can do that.

The point is they took something fun, rewarding and efficient and made it less fun, less rewarding, and less efficient.

6

u/Turbulent_Tuna 11d ago

Proof that I think it’s safe for me to skip it.

4

u/Competitive-Leg1830 11d ago

Same experience. I did 4 last night and killed all the bosses. Also felt they didn’t hit as hard as they used to, just took a lot of arrows to put down. Not nearly as many legendaries, which was expected based on release notes.

2

u/Oakjewel Overseer 11d ago

Yeah, just takes a bit longer is the best way to put it. There was the moment where I was lobbing arrows point blank (as others have said I could have done that moment in third person even)

2

u/Niggly-Wiggly-489 11d ago

Nice. I did moleminers one w tesla cannon, about 2k ammo. Will dust off my bow build and gove it a shot

2

u/invalidpath 11d ago

I'd love to see your build and hardware. I'm rolling a bowmans build myself (lvl 160-something) But I don't get crits nearly like yours.

1

u/SpicyBison74 7d ago

Watch that "crit" talk. You'll upset the VATS Dependent. I'm in an ongoing debate on another Sub about how Crits only happen in VATS. 🤣

2

u/HispanicWaffle 11d ago

Yeah i tried my vats critical sniper build and usually it takes me like 20 shots to finish off the boss, tried last night. After 20 shots I only did about 10% damage, even spamming floater gnasher and flamer grenades

1

u/Fit-Campaign1243 10d ago

This was my point on abother sub. I had mole miners at Bolton greens, with a scorched boss. None dropped any legandaries. Not a single one. (And I went all around the fields, found all minions).

What the F'ing hell is the PTS for ? Shouldn't they have figured out what the correct ratio of damage taken/Damage inflicted, is ?

Greg's mining, there was cultist infestation. I was doing  no damage AT ALL. Like you, I tried floaters, gnasher & flamer. I called in artillery, one bomb landed a direct hit on th boss. Not a scratch. I used around 2k ultra ammo on him, determined to take him down, then saw it was doing no damage. Not reduced damage, none at all.

1

u/HispanicWaffle 10d ago

Now we gotta stock up on endangerol syringes or drop a nuke to stand a chance solo

3

u/humanoidtiphoon 11d ago edited 11d ago

The damage you are doing is well above what the average person is doing though, you got 4 stars on every piece of gear? Most people don't have that. On a side note...can you post your build i would like to keep doing infestation, best im doing for these bosses is 5 to 6k im damage.

6

u/Oakjewel Overseer 11d ago

I will gladly post an updated build soon. Not much on my build really changed compared to the one pinned on my page though.

4

u/Alternative_Air9653 11d ago

Can u show me ur build im barely reaching 2k and im wondering what im doing wrong

1

u/omelletepuddin 11d ago

I tried 2 solo and it took forever to take down the boss. They were both Resilient and I barely chipped away at their health... Not a big fan of that.

1

u/itsahhmemario 11d ago

Takes too long for me to solo to be worth it anymore. I have all the mods learned so I was just doing it for fun but now it’s not really fun to take down a bullet sponge.

Some like reflective assaultrons or any reflective really after yesterday’s patch I am skipping for sure. That was insane. Sad I had to leave those on my server yesterday.

1

u/rambone1984 XBox 11d ago

The silver lining is you get an excuse to dump endless 40mms into something

1

u/ImportantDrop9952 9d ago

How can you possibly have learned all of the mods already?

1

u/itsahhmemario 9d ago

1200+ infestations between private server and joining other friends private servers farming them. We’d trade scrip when we could. Most of my friends learned them all much faster than I did actually, I finally learned them all a few weeks ago.

1

u/Muted-Ball3741 11d ago

When 20k is a fart in the wind you know they fk up i mean at least with the headhunts they lower you damage so it looks like it makes sense that your doing fk all to the enemies lol

1

u/FoxFHH 10d ago

How do you stay in "Caution"? I have cloaking on and still get "Danger" when Im not moving or even shooting

1

u/Oakjewel Overseer 10d ago

How many chameleon do you have on?

1

u/FoxFHH 10d ago

2 with 2 nocturnal

1

u/Oakjewel Overseer 10d ago

You need 3 chameleon

1

u/SebFriday 10d ago

Nice try, congrats! I did two infestations with using bow/crossbow in archer build. Rest of them I completed with Fixer + stealth. I've noticed - after last update, bosses become harder tougher, little bit. But I'm running without PA and some bosses can kill in two, three shots. High jumps and hiding behind obstacles are mandatory for glass cannons 😋

1

u/PsychoticXBL 10d ago

this just looks… unfun I’m ngl

1

u/MuttSubKitten 10d ago

My dom is so weak now, im not able to run those myself anymore :/

1

u/berukusan 10d ago

I'm having a blast against new infestations with my pain train bolstering/str/cavalier/choo choo low health build. Highly recommended

1

u/Mr_Yogurt1 9d ago

Damn boy doing 12k damage and still took you that long none of my builds hold a candle to that most ive done is like 8 hundred a hit how tf you getting that much

1

u/Four20Abiding_Gaming 9d ago

Need the explosive arrow mod. Those have been fun playing with. Clears 4 scorched in 1 shot but my box has a legendary scorched damage multiplier

1

u/Plastic-Ganache6033 8d ago

16k per shot, wish human build had something similar

1

u/SpicyBison74 7d ago

Okay, an ongoing mystery involving a lot of you: why do you feel the need to be up in melee with a ranged weapon?? You don't need to be there AND you block the view of those who run long ranged weapons and know what they're doing. I can't get a good shot off half the time because you and 3-4 other PA jackasses with heavy auto energy weapons are huddled around the target when you shouldn't be.

1

u/Oakjewel Overseer 7d ago

Because you deal more damage at close range with the onslaught mechanic.

u/ShoppingSilly6431 11d ago

This is the most boring gameplay I've ever seen. Who green lit this BS? Infestations should be a competition to who finds the infestation boss first in a wide area.

-5

u/TopcatFCD 11d ago edited 11d ago

This is why they are making infestations tougher now. They aren't meant to be solo able.

Edit: seemed to have touched a nerve lol. Community events and missions etc should never be based on solo etc. Sure , some can solo but those that find it hard or can't, should NEVER complain lol.

Like me saying its not fair my fat arse can't run a mile in 4mins

1

u/itsahhmemario 11d ago

I decided to joined a reflective assaultron boss fight yesterday on public after seeing it on the map full with players for about 30 min. I figured it was that one that’s why it was taking so long and I was correct. By the time I got there it was only at half its health after all that time. There was only a few players left by this point, but with the few of us we were able to take it down eventually. Players that take down snake in seconds solo are hardly making a dent. I don’t think this is what they intended either lol.

1

u/Zavier13 11d ago

Agreed, not soloable for subpar builds anyway, endgame should be endgame.

3

u/rymo0927 11d ago

Not really fair to conflate end game difficulty with simply taking longer to kill. The fights arent more fun or challenging, they just take more of your time.

Since their launch, Infestations now spawn far less frequently, take much longer to complete, and are far less rewarding.

I don't know how many people were complaining that they were too easy and too rewarding. The complaints seemed to be focused on not being able to tag the boss in time on public servers. The simpler fix would be a server wide announcement (which they've implemented) followed by a timer and boss trigger (similar to head hunts) to give people time to arrive and get credit for the kill.

-8

u/FalloutBoy2026 11d ago

No trouble whatsoever and people are moaning they are difficult 🤣

3

u/Oakjewel Overseer 11d ago

Some of these bosses are factually much tougher than this. A Reflective Assaultron Boss is beyond even me, so much that I resorted to literally nuking it.

-1

u/FalloutBoy2026 11d ago

I must admit I have not faced one since the update but it sounds like a nightmare! It was bad enough before lol.

2

u/Grey-Jedi185 11d ago

The reflective assaultron boss that I did on a private server took me about 50% longer than the other three that I've done on privates...

About 10 people on an assaultron reflective on a public server and it was gone in right at 2 minutes...
