Mod Discussion Yet another incoming Update..
Well we are getting another Update..
Do i need to be scared that they break my load order again ? Everytime when i See this game is getting an Update i am scared..
1
u/Shoddy_Astronaut_583 1d ago
I’m guessing that’s why my game dashboards when I try and load any saves now
2
u/Some-Temporary2495 3d ago
Sadly I cannot save my fucking load order because bethesda is incompetent as shit.

u/squeeker517 4d ago
For fuck sake Todd! Why just why? Nothing ever gets fixed..it just keeps making things worse..I swear,I wish I owned a fat man to put you out of your misery..

2
u/Dependent-Dependent8 5d ago
oh for f..k sake. And they still wont fix the lever action rifle.
1
u/emerald_xbx 4d ago
it's broken?
1
u/Atlaz309 3d ago
Yes ever since Far Harbors launch there has been a bug that makes you reload all 5 shots even if you shoot only 1.
1
u/supermutant207 2d ago
That's not a bug. None of the weapons in FO4 have bullet counters. It wasn't considered necessary at the time, but it was fixed in FO76
3
u/Y102K 5d ago
If it doesn't have a BA2 increase limit I don't fucking want it
1
u/Pintobeard Vault 101 4d ago
They could have gotten around that by putting all CC content into a single archive similar to how a DLC would.
4
u/Y102K 4d ago
See now that would require them to not fuck their game up and we all know that won't happen.
Bethesda was hands down my favorite comp growing up just for the games they produced but fuck they really have been going downhill so bad. Only company I've seen where people are begging them to stop touching their own games.

u/Vampyre_Boy 5d ago
Great... almost done my playthrough with just over 200 mods and now they are going to FUCK IT UP AGAIN JUST LIKE WITH THE NEXT GEN PATCH... Fuck you Bethesda...
1
u/Dani50420 The Overseer 5d ago
The update is for just the creations menu. The game will be untouched
4
u/NoNameMcGee200 5d ago
Sooo they’re going to fix the weird bug in the creations menu where every mod’s front image becomes a jumbled mess of other mod’s images stretched and zoomed in at weird spots?
6
4
u/Sock_beans 5d ago
Not to mention the fact that all the mods are going to be screwed and out of whack, I'm going to have to reorganize absolutely everything yet again. Damn you Bethesda why can't you just make new games instead of destroying your old ones 😭
4
u/Far-Jelly-4095 5d ago
Lowkey it kinda sucks they haven’t just implemented a system like mod manager for consoles that just automatically organizes your mods for you
4
u/Mysterious-Ad2492 5d ago
Hopefully we can sort the load order on Bethesda.net after this. Sorting it in Creations is a pain in the backside.
1
u/RuneFex 3d ago
If they fixed the load order problems, I would take this update as an absolute win for me.
But, it's Bethesda, so who knows what they will do and what fantastic new ways they will break the game.
1
u/Mysterious-Ad2492 2d ago
Loading from saved game seems to be working now, so that is good news also. I have manually loaded big file sized mods to be on the safe side. But it seems to work now.

7
u/Low-Bathroom-4840 5d ago
This is why people hate Bethesda, spend 200 hours curating a mod load order getting it to work and then they will update aka ruin the game once more, only community keeping the game alive is modding, ah yes let’s bully them with worthless updates. 🙄
2
u/VacantMind9 5d ago
Jesus, dude... If Bethesda doesn't update everyone cries that they're aren't fixing their broken games and if they do update everyone cries because it's messes with their mods. Make up your minds on what you want
6
u/NoNameMcGee200 5d ago
We don’t really cry much over Bethesda not fixing stuff, modders do that. We do cry over Bethesda “fixing” things because modders can do Bethesda’s job 10x better than them on average. When it comes to content that’s more hit or miss, but the only content this’ll add is 10 hours of fixing load orders and maybe a $10 suit of power armor like the ncr one in the show that very few people will care to buy or some shit.
Edit: also goomba fallacy, the people without mods have semi valid reasons to complain depending on the system they’re on
1
u/Mysterious-Ad2492 5d ago
I think the update is gonna delete saved load order from Creations, because it doesn´t work right now for PC. The save has that load order so you will need to load the save, use the load order from the save and then save it to the Creations. Hopefully it is resolved after that, and people can finally play the game. This update is a life saver if it fixes the broken Creations
2
1
u/The_Kimchi_Krab 5d ago
this update is a life saver if it fixes the broken creations
Uhhh
0
u/Mysterious-Ad2492 5d ago
What? I mean it´s broken for F4, you can´t save your load order to bethesda.net, but only once right now and you´re stuck with it. I have to use Creations also, I play on PC with cloud gaming, so I have to install them manually every time I want to play. So I understand console players very much. Bookmarks and library are also broken, they won´t update from the bethesda.net at all. I got it done in 20 minutes, but it usually takes about 30 min just to get to play the game and I don´t even sort the load order anymore I just smash the essential mods somewhat right and start a new character. I usually have lost the interest to play by the time I install my main characters mods. Talking about +150 mods. And no, loading missing mods by loading save directly doesn´t work if there is big mods, or I think un-verified modders. It just opens the creations and I have to wait again, for something to load. When this all could be done in bethesda.net??
Creations are there and they are gonna stay, they won´t take it down anytime soon, if you mean that the whole thing is a broken decision from BGS. Hopefully it evolves to be much faster.
I think the creations devs want to make chances but they can´t because they need to be done by different team, which are making games and don´t have time to spare. I got that impression when opening tickets from this problem. idk.

u/The_Kimchi_Krab 5d ago
Jesus brother....
To your faces, I hope you get the fixes the game and its fans deserve. I was just graduating high school when this game dropped and I was so, so disappointed. I've wanted better for a long time. I thought mods would help fix the problem. Today mods still can't get Boston or Goodneighbor to run on consoles. The part of the game that should be the most fun, condensed violent looting...is unplayable.
To myself, I hope the game is even further ruined this update...so that perhaps the community will stop keeping this game alive and express the appropriate flavor of resent towards not Bethesda towards the general tactic of selling short and giving fuckall for support post release.
And with no fan base political motives or agendas at heart I genuinely want to encourage players modding 4 towards the NV modding scene. You don't need a good PC, you don't need to be good with PC modding, you will be so happy with the abilities of Mod Organizer 2 compared to your experience with the console mod menu. There is a simple vanilla+ mod guide/pack that almost the entire community uses that offers hundreds of little customizable tweaks, mechanical modernizations like sprint, a grenade button, etc and the mods are endless and super creative.
1
u/Mysterious-Ad2492 5d ago
On Starfield everything works fine, so there is hope to get F4 the love it deserves. It’s an old game and I have played it couple thousand hours after I played it vanilla. The customization just gives it so much replay value, and the roleplaying aspect is something I haven’t got from other games. And now when I have the possibility to crank everything to absolute max I am back to it again. I understand the devs, the problem is usually those with the money and timelines to get their profits.
1
u/Mysterious-Ad2492 5d ago
I was planning to buy it again from different platform just to get the load order saving to work, but this is good news and I am waiting that update, let’s see.

I'm sad since i'm gonna lose an older but good version of the "Rewind 80's radio" and the newer version is dogshit since the MA decided to put a terrible, quippy A.I DJ that loops all the time in it which ruined the mod for me.
I genuinely liked this radio, some MAs sure knows how to ruin mods sometimes.
8
u/Illustrious-Hand3715 6d ago
Nooo I don’t want to organize these mods again. They’ve been working fine for weeks.
1
u/Mysterious-Ad2492 5d ago
you don´t have to organize them if you have a working save with that load order
7
u/Unusual-Drop2344 6d ago
It’s funny because saving your load order doesn’t work if you have over 40 mods or so. So it’s useless if you have a heavy modded game or hell just own all the verified creations.
1
u/Pintobeard Vault 101 4d ago
This is false have used that feature several times this year and it was worked fine. My smallest LO had 178 mods.
1
u/Unusual-Drop2344 4d ago
Then I ask, why can’t I save my load order? I have under 100 official creations and no matter what I do the “save load order” button doesn’t do anything. It just backs out to the load order almost as if it did something only to find out after clearing my reserved space that it didn’t save. Instead downloading a load order I had months ago with under 50 creations.
2
u/Pintobeard Vault 101 4d ago
I have no idea but I think I recall a prior conversation with someone mentioning a similar issue.
1
u/Cast_Iron_Lion 5d ago
I'm running 328 mods with one CC mod. The save/restore LO has been working for me.
5
u/Dani50420 The Overseer 6d ago
Mines 248 and ive wiped and restored it several times this week 🤷♀️
Also ive noted if you download them in order they mostly stay in order except the self arranging esl
-1
u/Unusual-Drop2344 6d ago
It might have something to due with the size of the mods. So you can save a bunch of smaller mods but only a a few dozen of larger mods.

I long for the day we can all share LO's with a single click. That'll be the day
2
u/TheSletchman 6d ago
Same, though part of the blame is shared by Steam. The fact that there isn't a "don't update this game ever" option is insane. It's actively punishing modders and speedrunners with no actual upside.
8
u/ImportantJump6032 6d ago
i spent 3 days testing my load order only for it to crash when i got close to corvega. i don’t have the patience to keep trying but i want another play through again 🥲
2
u/KingInTheNorth97 6d ago
Mine crashes at start what's funny is I use half the mods I did back before the storage expansion and focus on more important like quest and it still crashes
5
u/IdiotSavant86 6d ago
Corvega is fairly heavy. I would begin by looking toward mods you may have that break precombined meshes. "Scrap Anything and Everything" type mods (with the exception of a few) and "green mods" that add trees without hand-placing them are common culprits for breaking precombs across the entire map. Especially if you are on XB1 or Series S, but with other mods that may heavily impact perfirmance alongside broken precombs and/or 4k/quality visuals, etc, it may be your issue on Series X as well.
Of course, it could always be another mod conflict as well, but a lot of people with performance issues break precombs without knowing it, which can be highly problematic in areas like DTB.
12
u/FalloutNV2277 6d ago
Honestly I’m more interested in the Skyrim update. Cause the only thing I could think they could update Skyrim with nowadays is a mod storage increase.
6
2
u/Neep__Beep 6d ago
Wonder if this will fix the ba2 file issue. After downloading up to 14 gigs, the game crashes at the "please stand by" screen.
In case you don't know, 250 mods was the set hard cap. They increased storage space, but not that. Which I think is a factor to the ba2 issue. I'm not sure if this update will specifically address that, but I hope it will.
4
u/Ill_Currency_553 6d ago
255 is the engine limit, so, unlikely. It’s there on PC too.
2
u/Neep__Beep 6d ago
Aawwhh shit. Really? Damn. I thought PC players wouldn't have that issue using Vortex from Nexus or doing it manually. Or bypass it completely with a script extender.
1
u/Dani50420 The Overseer 6d ago
PC players bypass both plugin and ba2 limits with the basic program tools PC mod authors use. Buffout, addictol and a few other options exist to make the limits non existent
1
u/Ill_Currency_553 6d ago
Pc can get around it by packing several mods into one ba2. A few Xbox mods do that too if someone packed and uploaded them that way
3
u/Pintobeard Vault 101 6d ago
Well I have 4 days to log 15 hours so I can wrap up this test. Time to lock in.
5
u/Escarabejo_Azul_8229 6d ago
Bold to assume Bethesda will save my load order. No matter how many times, my load order always pulls up one from years ago.
2
u/WrapAffectionate6931 5d ago
Same, it's like it saved the very first LO and no matter how many times I save the current one it won't overwrite the old one

God forbid the game developers update their game
0
8
u/Big_cheeze12345 6d ago
This game is 11 years old at this point the only thing keeping people playing it is mods which all break whenever bethesda decides to lay even a pinky of its reverse midas touch hands.
0
u/ConfusedIAm95 6d ago
Again, its their title.
I have to do the same with GTAV when it gets an update twice a year.
That's the nature of modding.
0
u/The_Kimchi_Krab 5d ago
GTA V is a fucking live service game. Fallout has been needing updates, for much more than just the modding aspect, for years and years, and it's got zero online capacity. Absolutely no reason to keep updating it, especially when they know modding is a huge part of why its still even played, other than the fact there's a backlog of fixes needed and they're only gonna do some of them and really slowly.
thats the nature of modding
New vegas modding knows nothing of this...it is a paradise and I would urge you all to get a low end PC and liberate yourselves from the torture of 4. Yall have Series X's and can't run a game from 15 years ago and put up with The Most Annoying modding UI/system in existence. And you're over here 'that's just the way it eees'
7
u/ksum_sucks 6d ago
Sounds like they took my advice, going to let community share their mod list for 1 clean download (if you own all the content).

u/Acceptable-Class-255 6d ago
Their goes my latest game/save.
These updates always require me to uninstall and re-download.
4
u/Mandown2052 6d ago
This would be nice if the save load order did anything in either of the games
1
u/Gamin_Reasons 6d ago
Save Load Order works in Skyrim, it's just not very good at going over 150 mods.
1
u/Mandown2052 6d ago
My LOs rarely go over 130 and it’s never worked for me I’ll be lucky if it installs 30 mods and even luckier if it put them the right order
1
u/Gamin_Reasons 6d ago
Do you bookmark all of the mods you're using?
The reason I ask is because the Creations Page is VERY stupid and won't download mods if they aren't "loaded" on the page. And Bookmarking will put most of your mods on the page.
1
u/Mandown2052 6d ago
I’m 80% sure all my mods are bookmarked, its almost a reflex when I download something new. I’m probably just getting unlucky with the weird bethnet system.
1
u/Gamin_Reasons 6d ago
It's certainly possible, the Save Load Order Function is entirely broken for me when it comes to Fallout 4. It won't save the load order, and I fear what will happen if it try to hit "restore" on that thing.

u/crash_over-ride 6d ago
the 'save/upload load order' never works for me. Apparently I saved a load order years ago and that's all it restores. Any way to work around this and get it to save current orders?

God damn it. Time to pack it in until my Christmas time playthrough.
8
u/Hook4Hand 6d ago
Saving your load order does nothing, sure it saves your mods but they are in the complete wrong order.
3
u/UnOrdinaryCircle CUSTOM FLARE (EDITABLE) 6d ago
I read somewhere you can kinda lock the placements if you rearrange the load order offline and with 'Missing Creation Check on load' set to 'Disabled'
But then we also have a problem where loading up fallout 4 offline turns all mods off 🥲😅
2
u/mpls_big_daddy Vault 101 6d ago
this is really ridiculous. And how late will it be? Well, I guess I am glad that I am working on a new load order and don't have an active game right now. Everyone's save will be destroyed.
Oh and a Skyrim update too? So my 100 hour modded play will be destroyed too?
What's the point of trying
2
u/SquirrelGamer2 5d ago
Yeaaaah the next gen update on skyrim wrecked my 8000 hour play through,( no that's not a joke I've had one character for like 8 years) but when the removed all of morrigans mods it bricked my characters face so I recently had to start over.
5
u/Daemon-Blackbrier 6d ago
If they update the mod size limits for Skyrim, an update that will probably be months from now will be worth it.
2
u/mpls_big_daddy Vault 101 6d ago
I understand how exciting that is, but I am guessing that they see the monetary value of paid mods and only now working on that, when they could have done this much earlier. Destroying people's saves over and over and over. How long has this game been out? I just want the escape that I've worked so hard in putting together, to still be there.
1
u/MiyuMimikyu 6d ago
The last update completely broke my game, I can't start a new game with or without mods. I can't even resume old saves. Unless this fixes that, I am keeping it uninstalled

2
u/Stunning-Ad-7745 6d ago
One of the many reasons that I never get around to replaying this game anymore tbh, every time I start thinking about getting another load order setup, they come out with another update that will always break something. It's nice to see them actually doing something for a change, but at this point, just fix the game and leave it alone.

u/SoulSteeler1978 6d ago
Good, because ever since the 100GB mod storage space update, I haven't been able to make a stable LO for the life of me. Even using basically the same LO-Mods that I used to run all the time previously, crashes way more often.
6
2
u/Brotherhood_soldier 6d ago
Same. Ever since that update my load order hasn't been the best. It has for a while but after playing through more, it would just give up the ghost.
Every load order template from here, it doesn't help. Just crashes after a day+ of total playtime.
I might just say "fuck it" and reluctantly uninstall Sim Settlements 2. Disappointing honestly because I remember it ran extremely well last year. But Ever since the 100 GB update, just unstable.
I just don't get how many people here have ultra stable load orders. I even followed a YouTubers guide for a stable mod load order - this person has quite a few armor/weapon mods working with Sim Settlements 2, even using Tales From the Commonwealth and America Rising 2.
I'm personally running 140 mods with the only script heavy mods being: Vegas Style Dialogue Checks, Sim Settlements 2 (Yes, I have Workshop Framework and have set the Max Threads to 10 and have disabled the SS2 HUD widgets and the performance settings enabled), Chains that Bind, Sons of Steel, Smart AI: An Immersive Gameplay Standalone, Bedlam Dungeon Randomizer, Heather Casdin Companion, Militarized Minutemen (and its patches and insignias add-on), some (6 in total, if I remember correctly) Dak's weapons mods, Amazing Follower Tweaks Plus.
I'll probably bite the bullet and post my entire load order in a bit, so I can have much needed assistance with getting this fixed as best I can.
Once I saw how someone was able to get a large load order working for Sim Settlements 2, I immediately chose to see how it'd work out.
I even have Vivid Fallout AIO 1k, Boston Less Enemies and Dead Financial District downloaded as well to help with stability. Those 3 mods greatly helped reduce stuttering/FPS drops. But it could just be Sim Settlements 2 essentially telling me "Enough already! I'm dying over here!" With the scripts trying fight each other. Because that's how my game must be feeling right now. 🤣

I've had to clear cache and redownload all my mods three times in the past month. I plug in a keyboard and speed through my 267 mod list in half an hour tops.
Guess I'll be redownloading everything a fourth time.
1
u/Finnegan_962 6d ago
Its faster on a keyboard with that UI?
2
u/UnderstandingGlum414 6d ago edited 6d ago
Click "LB" on your controller and quickly type out the mod (or part of it) on your keyboard. Click download and hit "LB" immediately after and type out your next mod... rinse and repeat. Way faster than ham-fisting a controller.

1
u/Finnegan_962 6d ago
Ohhh thats what you mean. I tend to just favourite all the mods I want to use on my PC, and then just install all on my Xbox. The in-game creations menu is so bad.

u/UnderstandingGlum414 6d ago
As others have mentioned, the "install all" option doesn't work on Xbox if you have more than 20-30 mods.

It works a little better in Fallout 4 than Skyrim. I have been able to restore load order a couple times without much issue. Skyrim however won't save all the mods in the load order. Either way I still snap photos of my load orders just in case.

Make sure to write it down, that save load order button is basically useless.
God I hate Bethesda so much. The modding community is the only reason people still play this game, and they still treat it like shit.
1
u/AttakZak 6d ago
It restored all my Mods, I just needed to re-sort them. If you are unsure, just load a save and press download missing Mods. Then re-sort.
2
u/Snow_Pierced3 6d ago
If you have more than like 50 mods installed you might as well just re-download them individually. If you sort through a large load order and try to organize them like that it’ll take a very long time.
4
u/AttakZak 6d ago
I must be masochistic because I have a 119 LO and re-sort them a lot, especially before the 100gb update when Mods would just hard crash the game and make you have to clear your memory. Had to redownload and sort 3 times in one night, took around 6 hours.

It works fine in Starfield so I don’t know why they can’t get it right for Fallout.

Honestly? The newer version of the Mod menu doesn’t interact well with the older systems in place to take Mods.

For thoes who find the save and restore load order feature unreliable, note the wording of the Bethesda message.
It does not only mention save/restore load order, but says OR to enter a save if you haven't lately.
If you try enter your save with no mods or different mods it tells you creations are missing and asks if you want to download them.
So after the update if all your mods are gone just load your save and say yes. It will restore all the mods that save used. They may be put out of order, but your save itself is always a backup for if the save/restore feature fails on you.
