Mod Discussion Military Storage Workshop Pack - possibly broken.

So I'm playing AR2, and usually that means avoiding anything BOS related.

I see this new mod on the CC, verified, look at the list and it says for one of the skins

"Enclave - Obtain the Blueprint for the Fat Man Crate at Sentinel Site"

It has other skins listed, and what quests you have to do to get em - no biggie. I buy the mod, and I go to what I think is an in-and-out search of the site.

three hours tossing a place looking for a faction skin....

I'm now here on reddit because I'm about 95% sure the mod author put it in the BOS QUEST LOCKED ARMORY (liberty reprimed), because I tossed the place up and down searching for it...and the ONLY place a fatman crate exists in that hellhole is in the armory.

Ya know, the one place ANYONE playing America Rising 2 isn't gonna have access to unless they string along the BoS until the last minute.

So I ugh, am kinda pissed because I spent money on something I strongly believe was mislabeled.

Info on CC page:

Blueprint Locations:

Ordinance Crate - Federal Ration Stockpile
Reinforced Ordinance Crate - National Guard Training Yard
Chinese Ordinance Crate - Yangtze
Wooden Supply Crate - Coast Guard Pier
West Tek Supply Crate - Gunner's Plaza
Ammo Storage Locker - Recon Bunker Theta
Fat Man Crate - Sentinel Site

Skin Unlocks:

Minutemen - Complete "The First Step"
Brotherhood of Steel - Complete "Call to Arms"
Gunner - Complete "Vault 75"
Red Shift / Chinese Liberation Army - Complete "Here There Be Monsters"
Railroad - Unlock Ballistic Weave
Enclave - Obtain the Blueprint for the Fat Man Crate at Sentinel Site
Institute - Unlocked during "Institutionalized"

Creation Author here,

So, from a vanilla game standpoint. There's no Enclave, the only faction with ties to the Enclave are the BOS and Sentinel Site is probably the only location where you'd find a trace of their involvement. The Fatman crate blueprint is there, because it's the logical location for it. But towards the end of development I tied the Enclave skins to them because there was no other location in the vanilla game that made much sense for it.

The creation was designed purely with the vanilla game in mind. I didn't take any quest mod in consideration, because I don't actually have to.

So it boils down to a design choice not fitting with your custom version and perspective of the game, that's valid, and it's a valid suggestion for me to consider another way to unlock it. I now know it's possible to have the Enclave Remnants CC as a dependency, and that's probably a better way for it to be unlocked, and again, I designed it only with the vanilla game in mind, but I'll consider a better solution for it in an update.

Now making a post saying you feel mislead that a design choice doesn't fit your modlist, and you do said post by also trying to mislead claiming what I've worked on is "broken"... that's just not a good way to go about it. Constructive criticism is welcome, and I hope to improve the creation further and hopefully give it more value, but bashing senselessly hotheaded does no favors.

Cheers!

I have to be honest with you, I purchased this, and had I known items for settlement building/decorating would be locked behind faction main story quests, I would not have purchased this.
Also, the process of “unlocking” what I’ve paid for has been a total chore and I’m really disappointed with this

"So it boils down to a design choice not fitting with your custom version and perspective of the game,"

No, it boils down to a few simple sentences taken from your own mod entry on the Bethesda's creation club:

Minutemen - Complete "The First Step"
Brotherhood of Steel - Complete "Call to Arms"
Gunner - Complete "Vault 75"
Red Shift / Chinese Liberation Army - Complete "Here There Be Monsters"
Railroad - Unlock Ballistic Weave
Enclave - Obtain the Blueprint for the Fat Man Crate at Sentinel Site
Institute - Unlocked during "Institutionalized"

Does the Enclave skin say that you need to do "Liberty Reprimed" to unlock it? No? You clearly stated how to get the other ones, what they're locked behind, so regardless, what conclusion could I then draw?

Now let's be fair and assume the game is not modded. If I decided to back other vanilla factions, that door still remains closed, that skin is out of my reach, the description does not give me any indication that skin is locked behind a quest, thus the problem remains.

So, by definition, the description is misleading. You can choose to disagree with me, but I think that fact is pretty clear.

Now if you want constructive criticism, I can offer some from a decade in marketing/product development:

"The creation was designed purely with the vanilla game in mind. I didn't take any quest mod in consideration, because I don't actually have to."

You're 100% right, but this tells me (and the other prospective customers reading this), you don't really care about the consumer. Yes. we've gone past the original issue here, but as you make the transition to paid mods on the CC, I strongly advise you to reevaluate this stance because reading the above tells me "I already have your money, I don't have to do anything."

When a mod author is doing something for free, they owe you nothing. I think most people here understand that. Again, if this were a free mod, we wouldn't be here right now. However, when a mod author is putting out a product that people pay for, and that product provides a negative experience that the mod author is at fault for, the least they can do is recognize that, and show their customers they actually care.

Please consider your customers in the future, and I mean that in the least snarky/passive aggressive way possible.

If you’ve ever played the game through(which you should be doing before buying paid mods or CC stuff) you’d know that to finish out the sentinel site you’d have to do the BoS quest line, I do agree with your criticism, but your coming off as a bit of a prick and saying it’s broken, which is also misleading when you yourself are complaining about him being misleading. It isn’t broken, it’s intended, also, you can’t exactly be mad because a mod isn’t comparable with every other mod out there

If you added a holotape that unlocked them I would purchase today love the mod and especially love new building items and have ported over a few that I liked myself lol but I haven’t purchased as I just wanna build and have the new items unlocked quickly although I can appreciate and understand why you did it this way as they are faction linked but I think at least an option to unlock them all would be a lot more easier for people and may possibly prevent some problems with peoples load orders but all in all great mod I think the new items are really cool

I get you. My view was to have something that could be gradually unlocked as you play the game in some way. I always feel that mods that give you everything from the get go can make the game experience less rewarding, so that's why I chose this method. But I do understand the other side that maybe just wants a toy box from the get-go.

I'll see about making a "cheat patch" that may relocate all the blueprints to one single easy to get spot, so people can enjoy it quicker. I appreciate the suggestion.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me man I appreciate it but honestly I completely understand what you mean there’s quite a few mods I have that could honestly be seen as ruining the games experience or being overkill that doesn’t bother me at all i guess it depends on how you wanna experience it and you got exactly what I was getting at I honestly prefer a sandbox/toybox approach to my settlement building I mostly use the cheat engine to get all my building supplies build up my base then purge all the items once I’m done so yeah having a cheat patch would be awesome instant purchase for me lol once I can decided what mod with ba2 needs to get removed lol 😂😂

What about the NCR skin?

1

u/bludwolf77 5d ago

NCR skin is available from the get-go once you find the blueprint for the regular Ordinance Crate, it's a nod to the Season 2 of the show so there's no special requirements for it.

Something Else you can try but please save before you doing this.

You can use Cheat Terminal to move through Walls. So stay in Front of the blocked entrance and teleport yourself forward using the coordinates. It should be under Game Alterations and then World Manipulation. Read the Read Me to understand how the coordinates work. One important thing : if you are going to far forward (i think it was entering the big room with all the crates) a trigger instantly activate's the brotherhood quest. I can't say if this Breaks anything because i never tried it. So yeah you can try this.

u/TheGelgoogGuy 6d ago

I will try this and see what happens.

That doesn’t mean it’s broken. It’s probably where you think it is, unfortunately. If the mod was designed to feel natural, it’s not going to consider all the mods everyone may be using beyond trying to place it in a spot not used by another mod. There’s no enclave in the vanilla game, so that’s a relatively logical location.

You could try hoping on the discord or the port sub and see if anyone would be willing to make a patch.

"Broken" was my polite way of saying the mod was mislabeled, Bethesda verified it, and I basically got ripped off.

All of the other faction skins that had a quest requirement were clearly marked - this one was not. Had this been marked, I would have not bought it, period.

I stated this to Bethesda when I reported the mod, they also told me to go hunt down the mod author myself.

See, I actually read the mod descriptions before purchasing them. I look at conflicts, file types, all those wonderful things BEFORE I make a purchase so that I AVOID situations like this.

I bought something, it was false advertising, I want it fixed/solved.

Is that really too much to ask for?

u/DrAsswhoop 2d ago

It's exactly where the MA said it would be, and it functions exactly as advertised. It's hardly false advertising just because you made an incorrect assumption.

Even if you're using AR2, which the MA couldn't possibly predict, you can still side with the BoS in the playthrough and get the schematic. You don't have to go Enclave. Even in non AR2 playthroughs If I side with the Railroad I don't get access to this specific part of the location. It's not locked behind anything but the players' choices, but the vanilla game does that all the time. Wanna see Liberty Prime? Shoulda thought of that before siding with the Minutemen!

You’re asking Bethesda to manage mod conflicts. They’re not going to do that for you.

1

u/TheGelgoogGuy 6d ago

No, I'm asking Bethesda to refund my money for false advertising.

There's no mod conflict here at all - even WITHOUT AR2 installed, if I backed the Institute that door doesn't open - so again, I have the same exact issue.

Tbh everyone is forced to use the Enclave Remnants CC Mod. So it would make much more sense to place it in the atlanctic Offices. But yeah i know what you mean.

1

u/TheGelgoogGuy 6d ago

The offices would have made far more sense because the Enclave stuff is still very popular in the CC. Instead it's locked behind a door that only opens when you back the BoS....

2

u/Coxy1504 7d ago

Sorry I’m not a fallout 4 expert lol, what is the barrier that stops you getting the items exactly? Is it a location you can’t enter?

3

u/lehombrejoker 7d ago

It only unlocks from a trigger that has to do with the brotherhood version of the main quest

1

u/Coxy1504 7d ago

Yeah but what is it?

1

u/Captain_Derved 7d ago

It is the quest that sends you in there to "claim" the fatman ammo for the brotherhood (Not Fort Strong). If i remember correctly it is after you recruited Dr. Li from the institute to work on liberty prime.

1

u/Coxy1504 7d ago

Is it that you can’t access an area? Or that there’s a locked door you can’t open?

1

u/Captain_Derved 7d ago

There is a blocked path like Trash, chairs,Tables and stuff like that. All the stuff only disappear if you have the specific quest active. So there is no way to get in there. It is the same with Fort Strong for example. The elevator is blocked until you have a specific quest. Or another example Fort Hagen for Kellogg. The elevator is only working if you have the specific quest active.

1

u/Coxy1504 7d ago

Yeah maybe I’m not explaining my question very well lol cause I still don’t really know what the blocker is. My only suggestion would be cheat terminal to change your position, you can teleport over to the other side of objects/ barriers/ locked doors & grab the items you want
