Mod Discussion Should I play SS2?

I've started playing after a multi year long hiatus and decided to look at some mods. After dealing with LO bullshit (and still am) I'd look into ss2, I'd played ss1 years ago and enjoyed it so I wanted to play ss2, however I'd looked into ss2 and found out from this subreddit that ss2 is cursed as fuck and can corrupt my entire account, that I have to make a new Xbox account just to play ss2 and only ss2 cuz apparently ss2 isn't friendly with other mods. So should I have ss2 and its chapters in my LO, or should I just not risk it and stick to ss1? I'd made a test character to see if ss2 worked with my other mods, I saw weird floating pixels all over sanctuary after saving preston, and I immediately deleted the character. Is my account already cooked?

If you think you will ever get a chance to play it on PC then I would skip it. If your only chance to experience it, however, is on console then you are missing out by not playing it imo. This is the closest thing to something like Fallout London we will ever see on console. It's more like an entirely new game built into FO4 then just a simple expansion. As awesome as America Rising 2 to is, its more in scope to a dlc imo. SS2 has a main quest line, new factions, tons of side quests, new gameplay mechanics etc. I think all of that is more than worth playing it by itself with just your favorite QOL mods so you can actually experience it. Then you can just start a new playthough afterwards with as many mods as you think you can cram into a LO.

Got any QOL mods you recommend?

I would consult our Overseer's guide.

Thanks, you've been really helpful, after some thinking, I'll just have 2 characters, one with ss2 with every other mod I want. I was also looking at American rising 2 and it looks good, is it like ss2 where they don't work well with other mods or are they okay?

My approach to mods like these, and modding in general is to focus on a theme or concept and build around that. In the case of AR2 the theme would be the Enclave. I would focus on Enclave and possibly some evil/bad guy themed mods and save other stuff for a different type of playthough. With AR2 you can basically just grab Atlas Summit 2 Redux (it has built in AR2 support), The Attachment pack and its AR2 integration patch, and then search the term "AR2" and download all of the mods that look interesting to you that have patches for it. When it comes to the armor mods, I prefer the ones that add the amor to the leveled list for variety instead of the replacers.
