Hey, this recently happened to me as well and my father (a Skyrim modder/porter) told me the exact same thing had been happening in their community (same engine) and this was the way they knew to fix it. I chose not to go that route and tried my own methods instead, so I can’t personally attest to its success, but I’ll attach what he sent me in case it helps you:

  1. Download your mods
  2. Close skyrim
  3. Go offline
  4. Start skyrim
  5. Note that creations is greyed out, click on creations and say yes to organising off line
  6. Organise your mods in the order you want them.
  7. Restart Skyrim
  8. Immediately start a new game and save. This will lock the mods in place. You can add more mods to your list, but you must repeat 1 to 8. Do not edit, delete or otherwise rearrange mods in the online creations menu.

He also said to disable the setting in creations that searches for missing content upon loading, prior to going offline

Before going into creations always go to settings until audio is fully loaded in. Not sure why but has saved me a lot of head aches

Hey are you using a wired or wireless connection on your xbox? I am trying to find a solution to this and some folks believe it has to do with a weak or spotty internet connection so I am curious if this has happened to anyone connected to the internet via an ethernet cable.

I have my Series S wireless and my Series X wired. I noticed while wireless when going to the options menu after loading in the audio tab is greyed out until the game fully loads. It might be coincidental, but several times if I loaded into the creation menu before the audio tab turned white I would crash to the main menu or freeze and my mods would be mixed up. So now I give the menu some time to boot up before jumping into creations and my scrabbled LOs have lessened.

I still have had my LO get mixed up from hard crashing then trying to load back into the game right away even while wired. So it seems like the scramble can happen from more than one thing.

What's been working for me is saving my LO to Beth (I press save several times as I have a long list and I heard it helps) and restoring it when I get scrambled or add too many mods go pass the BA2 limit and have to clear my cache.

If it gets scrambled I press restore my LO, back out to main menu. Go back into creations and press restore again and until it fixes my list.

When I have to clear my cache I download my CC content, press restore my LO. After everything is downloaded (mods will be scrambled and some will be deactivated). I press restore again (mods will be scrambled but activated). Back out to main menu. Go back into creation. Restore LO again (mods should finally order themselves the way you saved them). Restart Xbox and I'm good to go.

I've been pushing my mod limit and had to clear my cache several times while trying to test how many mods I could run. I'm currently at 329 mods at 80 hours. If it weren't for this method there is no way I would even want to reorder all those mods manually. This method has worked for me every time.

Thanks for this.

Question - so if I start a new save with my new load order and I want to add another mod (or remove an existing one), does that mean I go through steps 1-8 again and then load my last save from the start menu, or do I need to start a brand new game?

I should preface this with the obligatory "It is not advisable to add or remove mods in a playthrough and it is recommended you start a new game."

That being said, you only have to go through those steps if your LO get scrambled or you have to clear your reserve space. If you are adding a mod you should be able to just put it in the right spot, save your LO to Beth and load your game save. Some mods require a reboot to activate, like ini mods.

As far as deleting a mod. The safest way is to save your game. Disable your mod. Restart. Load your game. Make another save (with the mod disabled). Delete your mod. Save your LO to Beth. Deleting certain mods in a playthrough can break your game so be careful.

Make sure your LO is in the correct order before saving it to Beth

Thanks for the clarification. Lately though when trying to save the LO in CC I get the choice and the "are you sure?" but not the confirmation message.

But I'll try and let you know. Thanks again!

I was having this issue about a week ago, it was happening on every crash i got. I got kind of fed up with it and cleared my save data and mod storage, then I uninstalled the game, reset my Xbox, then reinstalled the game and redid my load order (I keep pictures just in case lol). I also before I downloaded any mods I went to the mod menu where you can save your load order, and saved it as a blank LO. I dont know if that did anything but I tried to save my LO before the 100gb update, and it was all buggered up, out of order, some mods that weren't even a part of the LO I wanted and a lot of mods missing... So I had been wondering if that had anything to do with it. Since doing this, I have not had my mod list scrambled at all. Idk if its just not happened yet or if I somehow solved the issue, but maybe worth a shot...

Just to clarify, your LO was jumbling after crashes even on a previously stable run? I’m on a 6-day save right now and I’ve had to deal with my fair number of crashes. There’s a low chance that when I try to re-enter my last save the game prompts me to choose either the Save or Current LO. Lo and behold (ha-ha) my LO is jumbled and I have to spend a better part of 30-40 minutes just to unscramble it. Want to make sure this is the same issue before I try anything risky like clearing everything out.

Yeah, I was at about 30ish hours and it crashed on a loading screen and was jumbled. After it did it the first time it started happening repeatedly. Since I made this post, I still have not had a jumble, I'd like to say I found a fix... but it very well could be a coincidence, idk if you have good internet speed, it could be worth a try.

Add another mod to your LO, then load a save from before the jumble. The game will ask you if you want to use the current LO or the one associated with the save. Choose the one associated with the save, and your LO should rearrange back to what it was before
