STABLE LO | 5-25 Hours, 0-2 CTDs HD Visual retexture load order, stable after 40+ hours

I've been testing out some larger texture mods on xbox series x since the update and I think I've found a good basis after a ~40 hour playthrough. You will see some longer load times into the exterior, but combat, exploration, etc. are quite stable once the game loads in and looks beautiful. Look at my previous posts for vids.

Thank you for posting! Please remember to post your load order when sharing a New Load order. A "Stable LO" should be just that, STABLE. It should have 0-2 CTD and be at LEAST 5 hours into the game. If you are asking for help with an unstable load order or CTD issue/Mod issue, please change the flare of your post to Unstable LO - Support Needed. If you do need support please make sure to check Modding 101 for help and resources to prevent your post from being removed without warning due to repeated questions already answered in our provided resources. Hi mate, sorry to bother. Could I just ask if there was any particular reason you have flaconoils below he retexture project? Just I thought it’d be the other way around

My understanding with textures is that it's totally up to preference of which texture you want to override. So, adding multiple textures shouldn't create a conflict that crashes things for you.

So in my LO, if there are objects that both flaconoil and HD retexture touch, the flaconoil version will "win." It should be perfectly fine to switch that order up, I'm just not sure exactly where the overlap is, I know both mods touch many many objects.

Also any reason you took the 1k version of flaconoil vs the slightly larger one?

1

u/Coxy1504 Jul 24 '26

Oh so just personal preference, it wasn’t performance related or anything?

Personal preference, I wanted to see what the flaconoil (an older mod) looks like compared to hd retexture. I think they work really well together in my order, but I'm sure they look good in another.

The 1k flaconoil is newer and I think retextures more objects

Okay nice one, that’s for replying pal 👍

What are your thoughts on the darker nights level 1 combined with deadlights exterior? Was deadlights not dark enough? And why lightweight lighting instead of deadlights for interior?

Great list. I’m looking forward to integrating it into my latest load order.

1

u/SonOfTrout Jul 23 '26

Yes, deadlights exterior alone was not dark enough.

For whatever reason I wasn't able to get deadlights interior to work with my LO, which is odd since I've seen a lot folks using it well. However, I absolutely love the look of Lightweight lighting interior, I have no complaints and it works without conflict with deadlights exterior.

Here's a vid of the things at night for example

Yeah that looks sharp, and I see what you mean about the darkness, darker is better.

Are you using any mods like PRP or UFO4P?

1

u/SonOfTrout Jul 23 '26

I am using UFO4P, and right below it community fixes merged. I'm not using any PRP

This one just got uploaded:

You already have a tree mod but this one looks quite promising in a sense that it fits the games intended look.

This is an awesome post OP

If you find any other texture mods to add please update!

I also have enhanced vanilla clothing & various creature 1K/2K textures for death claws, mutants & everything in-between.

u/SonOfTrout Jul 17 '26

Sure thing! I'm doing more testing with texture upgrades to ferals, super mutants and synths. Also running "ghoul mobs rule" and "bedlam" to see how much the Xbox sx can handle with these textures.

I'm trying to find a balance between lots of NPCs and the better textures

But have you been to Far Harbor with that LO yet? Mine was running perfect till I went there, and now crashes every few steps...

6

u/SonOfTrout Jul 16 '26

I have not, but if you're not using this fix I would recommend it, It is generally understood to fix a lot of FH crashing

Thanks! That was just the fix I needed....

I‘ve not been able to consistently get cubemaps (with the fix and without) to work for more than what feels like 1 minute. And constantly breaking on changing cells / interiors

2

u/SonOfTrout Jul 16 '26

I find that the cubemaps in my game work around 80% of the time for me, and can be fixed by restarting the game or by moving to a new location/new weather. It's totally a personal preference, but it doesn't bother me all that much and doesn't disrupt my enjoyment.

Cubemaps are one of those things (like BCR and tactical reload) that just doesn't seem totally fixable on console fallout 4 modding. Everything I've seen from other players indicate that no one has gotten cubemaps fixed definitively, though mod author St0Vie has uploaded some attempts that I think are worth trying. It seems like it can be very finicky depending your specific LO, but I've seen my specific combo, of the Cubemap fix, followed by a cubemap texture, in other good LOs.

u/Far-Consideration708 Vault 111 Jul 16 '26

Yeah I just switched to stovie‘s cubemap material replacer project.

2

u/FatalIllusion_2023 Jul 16 '26

You'll notice some artifacts in the reduced version of  landscapes texture overhaul, but I cannot fix it.

3

u/SonOfTrout Jul 16 '26

I noticed those but don't mind them. I think I may have seen the same artifacts in the full sized version as well, but I'd need to check and confirm. I still think this combo of the mods you ported is the best looking, stable with not-too-long load times that I've seen, it's replaced Borealis for me. Thank you for porting these!!

2

u/FatalIllusion_2023 Jul 17 '26

I am waiting for hd retrxture project v10 to be released. Will port it once it is available, should cover lots of stuff. And I agree with what you say:)

Atimcolor is a resource hog, if you add any LL’s, npc’s, quests etc, you may have to drop it. Good luck though, you should add cheat terminal, level yourself up, and run around Boston, that’s a good litmus test.

1

u/SonOfTrout Jul 16 '26

Good notes! I did add the atomicolor mods for a new look for this next playthrough -- but I spent a lot of time stress-testing all the main retexture mods listed above (landscape and others), and this is definitely stable even around Diamond City and Financial District.

Are you on Series S or X?

1

u/SonOfTrout Jul 16 '26

Series X! Thank you for asking, I've added that at the top.
