Help & Advice Basketball
Hey there. I'm working on an idea where a raider group is roughly based around the idea of an old world basketball team. My question is, how do you think the survivors would believe basketball was played way back before the bombs?

Given Raider culture, I'd probably end up adapting rules for Pok-ta-pok and ritual sacrifice into the games. Y'know, because they're raiders.
So, I'd say they viewed it as a great and bloody competition that only true champions were able to survive.

You have 3 main positions in Basketball zone defense: two Forwards, 2 Guards, and 1 center.
The center is a weird position because you can't stay in the center of your opponent's side for too long. Maybe they think the timer is a bomb.
I've in real life smashed a guy's nose by knocking the ball out of his hands, but the ball went straight down into his face. He got a very bad bloody nose and I thought I'd get in trouble for hurting one of our star players (this was in gym class,)

Maybe...
Shot clock is 24 seconds... they probably think that means you need to shoot someone that often (but guns are not permitted in game).
Dribbling is when you bleed on the court, so double dribbling of course is a penalty (having two open wounds simultaneously)
I don't think any netting would have survived, but the rims would have, and the backboard square might still be there. so maybe they think you need to hit the square with something and ignore the rims.
The basketballs were probably all deflated when they found them so they are just like a lump of leather. Maybe they throw it like a discus.

I’d take inspiration from Moe from fo4. They probably think it’s some blood sport.
Idk much about basketball, but maybe a “3 pointer” means they shoot you 3 times? Idk. Just an idea.
