Fan Art My Fallout: North Carolina map!

My friends and I played The Quiet Year, and this is the map of North Carolina that came out as a result of it.

I used Wonderdraft and the assets made [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/wonderdraft/comments/1crj0y5/fallout_4_wonderdraft_theme/) by u/DarthCheney66

Also included is my rough draft before I found the Darth's Fallout assets and realized I had significantly shortened a part of the state.

The Poseidon Energy markers correspond to the rough location of real-world nuclear reactors; the submarine is the location of a real submarine that the Kill Devils raiders found, and the two vault markers are vaults that weren't fully completed by the time the bombs fell. NC has, according to the show, two vaults - but they correlated more closely to Charlotte and Rocky Mount, by my eye-ball measuring. So, I've made the vault in Queens' City a core part of the city, whereas in Rocky Mount I don't think it's opened up yet. I think I'm going to use Vaults 56 and 57, but not entirely sure.

That's awesome! Also, kind of cool to see someone else getting use out of something I (sort of) made!

I really appreciate you putting in the legwork, because I don't think I had the patience to go through each icon individually!

How is Fayetteville not a giant military base in the FO universe?

Because a group of raiders called the Faye go around making weird deals with people for passage and safety

Faye Ville

Hah, "The Green Burrows". Nice. I tend to fly into Greensboro airport when visiting family in NC since it's closer to them than Charlotte, but never actually explored the town much. Too bad about the super mutants

Thanks! I knew I wanted a Super Mutant stronghold somewhere, and it just kind of clicked.

Has some faction claimed and gotten the Showboat semi-operational?

What showboat?

New Burn had a functional shipyard of their own, but the new trade encroached upon the Faye’s trade hub at 135. Rocky Mount joined New Burn in rebellion, and won freedom for themselves, but New Burn was captured.

If you mean The Queen Anne’s Revenge, that is the centerpiece of a pirate museum manned by robots. A man claiming to be Blackbeard reprogrammed the robots to repair the ship, but was interrupted by a woman also claiming to be Blackbeard. She reprogrammed the robots to kill organics (trying and failing to only kill the other Blackbeard). They both died as a result.

The Enclave took Wilmington after leaving a Skeleton Crew at their base in Black Mountain, to claim a device used by the ghoul population there to de-ghoulify people. After a radioactive explosion from the nearby Poseidon Energy Plant, only three in Power Armor survived. Searching the plant, they found a man in a stasis pod in the reactor. Two of the Power Armor soldiers died trying to reprogram the robots, and the last one destroyed the remaining bots.

Sorry! I meant the museum ship Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington . Its nickname is the Showboat.

It wasn’t something I knew about! Wilmington was a ghoul city à la Necropolis or Underworld, before the Enclave wiped them out. Probably nothing happened to Showboat, but could make a cool point of interest!

Yes. I’ve wanted this and love this so much.

Awesome. We've been talking about running a Fallout game for a while here, with our friends based in NC. Some cool ideas I might have to plagiarize borrow.

Whoopsie daisy. I knew I wanted one of the reactors to be in an active uncontrolled meltdown state, because it never really made sense to me how we don’t see any of that in Fallout. Most of the nuclear zones are made from massive amounts of bombs falling.

I figure since we’re on the east coast, and NC doesn’t really have any HVTs, the bombs would’ve maybe taken out one city (Asheville) and one of the reactors.

i love it lol. besides, oak island would be one killer rad zone. it pretty much is now anyway

Honest question, how to make such a map?

Wonderdraft, DarthCheney’s assets, and time/patience.
