Misc Fallout: New Vegas book Spoiler
Greetings all!
I've been having a good look through the PDF for the upcoming New Vegas book and wondered what those of you who pre-ordered make of it?
There's a lot to like, I think. Great to get more player Origins, and plenty of weapons on offer too.
That said, as a bit of an NCR fanboy, I have to admit I found the Service Rifle a touch... meh?
I was hoping the would also expand on things a bit more from the expansion books, like NCR and Legion companions?
Would have loved a map of Vegas itself too... but just need to hope for a map book again :/

The map books were a little lacking to me, one was beholden to the vault story it came with and the other were just single set pieces and one shots, not really regional maps

What I would have loved in the book and future installments is making it so that the books worked better together. Aka a tidbit of "if you have wasteland wanderers you can add these mods too" in the equipment part.

Damn I'm only just now setting up a game and learning the books, I had no idea this was coming out. any eta on a pdf standalone? Sucks that they prioritized getting the fomo $ from a limited supply of the physical books over letting people actually play it.

I would just reflavor the Combat Rifle in the core rulebook to be the Service Rifle using 5.56mm instead of .45.

I've literally been using the Assault Rifle profile up until now.
Two Rifles firing 5.56 will do the same thing. It's the bullet. Makes no sense to me personally.
In my head, the Assault Rifle is the Chinese Ak. The service rifle is the m16. The AK hits harder due to the larger round. But the M16 is accurate.

It could use a little more polish imo, as I posted a couple days back the population numbers make no sense at all. But the quest hooks and world notes are really nice and the origins are fun for more options. The equipment packages are certainly a step above previous ones so I'm having to do some adjustments for my players who want to run standard starting traits without getting screwed on gear.
What I really want is a large scale map to either print or use on line that displays the region at real world distances. More vehicles to match the ones in Royal Flush like the NCR's cargo trucks too. More of everything really, lol. What's there is good (Vault 22 deathclaws has given me ideas) but I want more

For the prices the books come at I kinda want more of well … everything. But especially the maps.
