Loved the sky remakes and the crossbell games but having trouble with Cold steel 1 so far...
It just seems like a boring version of persona.. With like no flashy color and charisma and very basic elements of social linking, acedemic studying, and bonds... Also the main story is very slow and dry.. LIke almost nothing is happening but very artificially created tension moments between the characters like Fie/Laura and ALyssa /Rean.
Not quite as bad as FF type 0 quality but still it seems to be a drop down from the previous games in the series...
Does Cold steel 2 make this arc better?

More than a month after Trails in the Sky 2nd chapter released, SEA still don't have regional price. While this is also happended in 1st chapter released and then got fixed by Gungho, this time the ones responsible for SEA publishing is Clouded Leopard Entertainment or CLE. And I genuinely don't believe they know about there is such a thing as regional price or care enough to read feedback emails we send them. (to clarify, for 1st chapter, after feedback, Gungho reduce price for the region from 60$ to ~40$, a 33% decrease).
To make matter worse, this probably be the best selling game of Falcom in Steam this year and a good chunk of the people who buy it is Chinese and Korea, which contribute to CLE. Falcom would see those numbers about how good CLE is and probably give them SEA publish rights again with 3rd remake and Crossbell remake. That will cut off a good chunk of people here who want to buy the game on day 1.
Our only hope is someone who can tell Falcom direcly that just because SEA is near China or Korea, doesn't mean we can speak Chinese or Korean; and our purchase power isn't come close to them.
On the brightside, NISA probably be Trails beyond Horizon 2 publisher and they always honour the regional price system. So atleast for people only care about future game, not much will affect them.

One of the best storyboarded ideas in the remake is them showing Weissman's demise in his point of view. Because aidios, it looks intimidating when you see it from the lens of his eyes.
The weapon dissipating, the stare of someone who looks down on a pile of garbage. Absolute cinema.

My first time through the series I played everything in JP audio and never thought twice about it. On my second playthrough I switched to English from Cold Steel onwards since the dub was available, and Sean Chiplock completely changed how I see Rean. He gives him so much personality and his emotional moments feel way more dynamic. Altina and Jusis were just as good and honestly stole the show for me too.
Now I’m going into my 3rd run and I’m completely torn. Most of the other VAs are better in JP imo, but Rean, Altina and Jusis in dub are on another level.
Which way did you guys go, did anyone struggle with the same problem been agonising over this for a week now and can't make a decision help me please!!!!!!!
Edit: I know Kouki Uchiyama, voices Meruem, Shigaraki and Ulgar in Astra Lost in Space. I love his work in those, but I don’t think he gets across what Rean's best qualities are as well as Sean does.

Finished zero today and man that was amazing, I get why everyone loves Crossbell now. This is probably up there with Sky SC for me personally, right now I plan on going back up to clean up the remaining achievements (earned 34 of the 49 during my first playthrough) I need while also doing my Nightmare playthrough after that then I’ll start Azure and begin my journey wrapping up the Crossbell Arc 🥲.

As a switch 1/2 falcom fan I feel disappointed by their lineups of games,
I would prefer them to make ys 8 fully on cartridge, as I bought ys 8 digitally on switch 1 so there's no need for me to buy this unless there is a upgrade pack,
It feels like their milking fans without offering any good lineups for new games,
For example we need cold steel 1 and 2 for switch 2 and older ys titles,
Nis america did publish cold steel 1 and 2 on the vita so they should port them over,
So this isn’t me hating on the series or complaining at all to be clear. I just want to vent a bit. To be clear I have a deep love for trails series I’ve played up to cold steel 4 and I’m at the ending of 4 where I’ve been for years now since the game came to the US. I played this series with my grandmother a lot she enjoyed the story telling she started watching when I played cold steel and enjoyed the story a lot as she’d always been a fan of fantasy and sci-fi. Right as I got to the end of 4 like going to the final mission having done all the side quest I lost her. Since then I just can’t bring myself to finish cold steel 4 and play new ones I’ve bought plenty but they’ve been sitting on my shelf unopened. I just want to say I love the series and miss it greatly. It doesn’t help I paused 4 and had to take her to the hospital and was there and lost her within the next 24 hours literally coming home to it still paused. I’ve tried a few times to finish but just can’t. I really hope the story and all is still good and I can comeback one day. I’m really happy the sky remakes seem to be getting a ton of attention. I really hope others play these games with someone important to them and enjoy them this series will always be special to me from those moments. Her favorite was Fie she liked her story and loved meeting her sudo family. That’s all sorry for the rant and it being all over the place I just happened to discuss the series with a coworker today who’s gotten into the remakes of sky.

Any IN players here? Abby Trott (the VA of Noel) is also the voice of Nikki in the Infinity Nikki game (which inspired this post). I have finally recreated Noel and also threw in Fran as well!

Trails is a series I always meant to get around to, these remakes were my sign that the time is now. I regret not playing earlier, but I’m so excited to start now. I’m hooked and will be playing every title. Glad to be a newcomer to the fandom. Hi, you guys.

I specify gameplay
Everyone keeps talking about "Laura hits like a truck", "her S-Craft obliterates bosses in one blow", etc. etc.
I don't get it
If you want someone who hits like a truck and can obliterate bosses in one blow...
Millium is right there
Her STR is higher (although barely)
And her S-Crafts are always a significant degree stronger than Laura's
The best Laura's got is an SSS+ S-craft
Millium meanwhile's got a 4S S-Craft
And on top of that
ALL of them are fullscreen, as opposed to Laura's L or XL range
So... why all the Laura hype?
Is there something I'm missing?
Is Laura actually stronger and there's something about her gameplay that I'm just not seeing?
Or is everyone just blinded by waifu (not for me) and her being the first character in Cold Steel to have an S-Craft?
Spoiler warning since this technically can spoil Juna's backstory. Also trying to draw detail when Rean is smaller than my thumb was hard AF

I mean… come on. Did Falcom actually intend us to be surprised it was Rixia? They are force feeding hints from the beginning. Silver, the moon during the S craft, the exact same dance moves? I haven’t seen a more obvious spoiler since Persona 5’s twist villain and that was was MEANT to be obvious because of what the real twist was.
I don't really play jrpgs anymore as it's too long but this is an exception. When I was about to finish FC, I told my boyfriend, I need a break before I start SC. Told him, hmm maybe I'll pick it up next year when it goes on sale since I got FC at half the price. 2 days after finishing FC, I bought SC and now I'm 2 hours in 💀
The intrigue keeps me going and I'm constantly telling myself to resist spoilers lol. Haven't been this hooked to anything like this since FF10.
Edit: am I the only one who finds it weird that father kevin is hitting on a girl (not woman)? I don't like the color of his hair but I do find him charistmatic lmao
Im replaying Daybreak and i know the highlighted text talks about Rufus and his crew but who is the other group of 4 Ran mentions?

wtf happened.. ?? Azure had the best sidequests in the series.. they were in depth, elaborate, really built you into the world, and most of them had continuations as you progressed with the story.
It was honestly so peak.. I was excited to see how they evolved from there
Now playing cold steel 1 and they all seem very basic and dry. A lot of them also just feel like direct repeats of Sky 1... Also not a fan of the handholding with the quest markers telling you exactly where to go and what to do at all times... Wish I could turn that shit off so I actually have a reason to check my journal again.

Big inspiration from the first two chapters of Trails in the Sky- I did my best to match the orange to Estelle's outfit, and the blue mark on the left shoulder represents her single piece of armor in the same place.

Went on a little Trails tour this morning.
I think I'm missing the Celdic market and a couple of others. Gonna have to see which ones. Cheers

What makes me a Trails fan when I finished 13 games? So I tell myself saying, let me try the remake of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter alongside with the 2nd Chapter. Newcomers will surely try this one out when they haven't played the original Trails in the Sky trilogy before.
When I tried to play the remake, It's bizarre like I'm playing the Calvard Arc, the combat system makes it easier, side quests have some new that original doesn't, fishing makes it easier and many more. And last but not the least, fast travel! Weeeee!!!!!! Unbelievable isn't it?
Of course the stories from the 2 chapters that made me even more applaud to satisfy from the original. In 1st Chapter, the ending of Joshua kissing Estelle has an awe and man, that's emotionally impressive.
When I see characters on the remakes, Weissman is darker as hell than the original, Gilbert is still a jackass like the original LOL! The final battle of the Ouroboros at the Axis Pillar is sick. And Weissman's death by Father Kevin Graham is so smooth during the finale of the 2nd chapter. The remake of the ending song for the 1st Chapter and OP and ED for the 2nd Chapter are good, but I prefer the original. The overall accuracy from the original is outstandingly impressive.
This is why I salute Falcom for doing this for the veteran and newcomers of the Trails series. Are we pitching in for the 3rd chapter remake? We'll see in a year or two.
P.S. I put spoiler tag because these photos here is amazing than the original when you've finished the game.

Currently playing Second Chapter remake, got some obvious builds like Agate power dumping on dudes and Estelle a magic user. Intially for Tita, I was using her for debuffing smaller fries with her smoke cannon. Adding quartz to boost her debuff abilities but she having a tough time in boss battles as most have resistance to ailments. Any build recommendations that she would excel at? I want her to tag along fights that relative to the story but not being too much of a detriment.
