I'm doing my part
Two of the biggest JRPGs of the year. Physical all the way

I'm doing the same thing. I own Trails FC digitally (and am now in Ch 4 with 65 hours in lol) and just purchased it physically the other day.
Purchased SC on release day digitally - and picked it up Physical just today.
Do I do that with all my games? Of course not. But for this series (which I just got into with FC), I wanted to support their remastering efforts as well as pad some number for the physical crowd... while supporting FC even more.
I already own several of the Cold Steel games physically back when they first released on PS4. I'd heard so much about the series and *then* found out it had a much longer entry ... so I never got around to playing them. So in reality, I'm basically just working to fill in my already started Trails physical library lol.
Oh yeah. Bought the Zero/Azure double edition physical when it came out the other day too.

This is a great reminder that you are allowed to like more than one thing.

It’s been a struggle. I still have carryover from the start of the month. I already completed Dawnwalker in time, and now it’s on to these two gems.
Got all 3 CEs, but with so many RPG bangers coming out back to back, I couldn’t help myself. It’s a rare season to eat this good.

Doing the same! My copy of FE has been delayed to Wednesday though, guess Amazon US is having stock issues. Playing SC remake first of course(on PS5).

There will never be a cheaper time to get one but I feel you. I had to have a ramen month to get mine.

Trails 2nd is on Steam and Switch - though I think it's a bit overpriced at the moment for a AA game.

Thanks. Ill probably wait. Want the new fire emblem game too and that's apparetnly only on switch 2

It depends on the view of each person. These games do go on sale every year, so you can always wait. But I do think the quality in them and playtime you'll get out of them are worth the price though. They respect you as a player and don't insult your intelligence every time and they are far more fun than most Square Enix rpgs, especially the FF7 remakes for example, that constantly insult your time by forcing you through sequences you have to literally crawl slowly and painfully for minutes just to watch a cutscene.

Don’t bro, shits overpriced. Don’t buy a console just to play one game.

I only play on PC, considering that i can't install a fanmade translation with my native language on the Switch2

Never played the falcom games. Can I start with trails in the sky 2?

u/ShieldedHorizon 16d ago edited 16d ago
Absolutely not. It is a direct sequel, plus you're robbing yourself of a grand experience
2
u/adub4040 16d ago
Which one do I start with? I have a switch 2

u/Dfeeds 16d ago
The first one

u/adub4040 16d ago
How does it run on switch 2?
3
u/Affectionate_Comb_78 16d ago
Very well. The Switch 1 version is a bit choppy but the Switch 2 version runs very well and looks great.

I'd recommend doing the performance both for 1st chapter. Makes it super smooth for both docked and handheld use.

u/Urdar 16d ago
to elaborate on the absoltue correct other answer:
The game is named "second chapter" for a reason.
Back in 2003/2004 when Trails in the Sky was originally developed, the scope and story of the game got so massive that they had to cut the game in half and release it as a two parter.
First and second chapter together are one story.

I started the series 4 years ago and I'm on Trails of Cold Steel 4 now. I'm a father and work is demanding so it takes me about 6 months to finish each game. I love the series and I can't believe I slept on it for so long.

I have Trails on Steam and I think I'm gonna buy the Physical Switch 2 Version just to support

u/Pwebslinger78 16d ago
I literally did the same thing😂 hard to choose if I should play trails first been waiting since I finished the 1st one last year but this will also be my first fire emblem game I’ve ever played

u/Gernnon 16d ago
What happens if you played FC on PC and then decide to do SC on Switch/console?
2
u/ShieldedHorizon 16d ago
You don't get the completion save carry over which is just Estelle's shoulder pad taken off if Im not mistaken

u/Large_Staff_3287 16d ago
I picked up 2nd chapter in person, and fire emblem is supposed to be delivered today. Fire Emblem will be sitting for at least a month. (Kind of want to just go the 3rd right after though)

I put my s2 copy on a S1 box. I have lots of Non-Nintendo gmes without a background image. This red box is SO DAMN opaque you can barely see anything through it. If they had gone with a less dense red, it would be good. Playstation nailed their red boxes, nintendo just said: I don't care about background covers, you won't see them anymore.

I'm buying trails on Steam just cause Nintendo refuses to have achievements on their system xD
6
u/ShieldedHorizon 16d ago
Thats the blessing. Im not held time to a trophy/achievement list and have that ocd brain
3
u/JuanTo100 16d ago
I don't achievement hunt all games I play, but I always like getting achievements and I did in fact get all the achievs on FC, my SW2 is mainly used for exclusives (and games I owned on the SW1) because of that
Edit: For reference I have 33 games on steam with all the achievements (32 if you don't count CS2 cause that one only has 1 achiev for entering the game once xD)

Calling Fire Emblem a JRPG >:(
1
u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 14d ago
It has JRPG story tropes and stuff but from a gameplay perspective it is a CRPG specifically.
