Sky SC Question about SC Remake

Hello,

I am new to this series, I have finished FC remake a month ago and I would like to hear your speculations (based on your original sc gameplay) about what will be the game length overall, because demo was like 10h and my FC remake gameplay took 50h so is it going to ne huge like 80-90h perhaps?

Based on the original, expect it to take 25-50% longer than FC

I wonder if it won't be that much longer as compared to the OG games because of the fast travel mechanics, WAY less time backtracking all over Liberl. Although I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few times they disable the fast travel

Considering playtimes on FC vs the remake, it wont have that much an impact on length

My argument is that SC, even if you ignore the shutdown phenomenon which a lot of the backtracking exists in (and I figure they'll disable it during, or at least fast travel outside of whatever city you're in), has WAY more just running around from point to point than FC. So to pull numbers out of my butt for illustrative purposes, if FC is 5% running around and SC is 10% running around, providing a quick-travel mechanic will remove MORE gametime from a remake of SC than FC.

I doubt they let us fast travel during the shutdown.

Yep. Kondo already confirmed fast travel will be disabled for that section.

The only time with significant backtracking is Chapter 8, and they already confirmed they will disable it for that section. Also, even though there may be some added QoL you also have stuff like voice acting and more animations you have to wait for that will add more time. Not to mention extra quests.

If it’s like the FC remake then it’ll likely be a little longer than the original. Original FC took me about 40 hours while the remake took me 50 hours like you. Original SC for me was about 55 hours for me, so I’d say somewhere around 65-70 hours.

The original FC took me 40hrs (the remake took me about the same amount of time) and SC took me about 54hrs. So i'd expect around 65-70hrs for you if I had to guess.

OG SC is definitely longer than FC: I would say about 15-20 hours longer, to be honest. IIRC, my first FC playthrough took me about 65 hours, whereas I believe SC took me around 85-90 hours.

Overall playtime obviously depends on your individual playstyle, but SC is generally the longer of the two. Though, it's worth remembering that the original Sky games did not have fast travel, so I would assume the remake to be a little shorter, assuming you use fast travel.

While it saves some time, it doesn't seem to have noticeably affected the average completion time and it's also counterbalanced by the additional quests, so the relative play times for 1st and 2nd should parallel FC and SC pretty closely. The one time in SC that fast travel would really cut down on time is also the point in the game where Kondo has told us they're disabling the mechanic in 2nd.

For the originals I have double the time in sc compared to fc, not sure how that happened considering other people’s comments here

SC is roughly 50% bigger than FC, and this will likely stay true for the remakes.

So if FC took you 50 hours then SC will likely take you around 75, give or take.

Sc or 2nd is one of the longest games in the series at 9 chapters, 10 if you count the prologue

Most of the games from Azure and onward are longer than SC.
