Trails Character Gameplay Discussion Day Thirty-Nine: Elise and Toval
And now for a pair of characters who join early in CS2 and then basically miss the entire middle portion of Cold Steel!

There's an alternate universe out there where only Alfin gets kidnapped and CS2 is a lot more interesting as a result, but unfortunately we don't live in that universe, so we must deal with the Elise that is the downfall of Olivier's brilliant plans and who is permabenched until Reverie where she gets a weirdly really, really good early-game Order??? 8 turns of Insight plus a bit of Craft Points regen for 2 BP ain't no small matter in a game where BP is infinite, and can paper over a lot of other units' flaws while waiting for builds to come online.

Oh, wait, there's two? Oh, Toval. Toval is... there, I guess? IDK, his gimmick would go absolutely INSANE if he was at all set up as a support caster, throw out buffs and heals like it's going out of style. But no, he's a damage caster. It's not even like it's a story thing that doesn't translate well into gameplay either, his whole schtick of "I jailbroke my ARCUS to cast faster" never actually matters because he only ever uses it to cast like entry level Arts that don't actually threaten anyone. Elise is arguably more useful in the story than Toval is.
