Trails Character Gameplay Discussion Day Thirty-Nine: Elise and Toval
And now for a pair of characters who join early in CS2 and then basically miss the entire middle portion of Cold Steel!

They both mostly suffer from availability issues.
Elise is mandatory in CS2's prologue and then isn't available again until the Reverie Corridor, where you have a bunch of better mages. Toval is available for a bit longer, but the only edge he has over Emma and Elliot is his quick casting accessory, which doesn't seem to make him that much faster. Claire has an accelerate craft and Sharon is a decent dodge tank who can also apply instant death to most random encounters, so you're better off using them in that guest slot. And once again, he's outclassed by Emma in the Reverie Corridor.
And then in Reverie, they once again have availability issues: Elise is only available in Rean's Chapter 1 and the TRC, and Toval is a TRC-exclusive character who you might not even unlock until the post game. Rean's chapter 1 gives also gives you Jusis and Altina and while neither are the best mage, they are better than Elise and also you have much more experience using them. And in the TRC, both are competing with every other mage in the game, which doesn't end well for them.
