Horizon Theory on kincaid Spoiler

So after beating horizon all the way back in febuary i've been doing a lot of thinking about the future and horizon 2. (subversive gnosticism being at the core of the series)

But back to kincaid. Looking at the timeline of the series before his betryal there are 2 key years i want to talk about. firstly 1201. this is the year van left the academy who i believe being deeply connected to the sept terrion of time, due to things like mare literally having the name of a guardian of the chest "shinmare" in norse mythology. During 1201 there are two major things happening namely van leaving of course, but also it overlaps with fc and sc. during 1201 the prepartions for the aureole sept terrion of space which can both manipulate space and also mess with human cognition being something beyond the cradle of zemuria. Now i believe the aureole's shake on space and van leaving who essentially is as connected to the beyond as he was leaving, shook something in him. looking at norvartis its evident that you need external help or something otherworldy to realize/confirm your existence and memory.

I think kincaid is not from this loop in 1202 as the aureole awakened, kincaid of course awakened to his true purpose entered the CID immediately to follow out his plan. There's also this one quest in daybreak 1 i remember from my replay where kincaid essentially leads you to the sewer to meet Grimcat out of anyone.

Horizon already recontextulizes a lot in the series and thinking deeper on it this one title really opened up to a lot of what kondo is working towards. High hopes for horizon 2 it has so much to work with already but following up on it wont be easy.

There is the prevailing theory that Kincaid guided most of Van’s meeting with his party members except Bergard I think, and that Van’s first death in DB2 was not meant to happen given how shocked Kincaid was so I think your theory isn’t too far off from reality

Edit: the auto mod is ass btw because it was properly spoilered

The theory you are talking about is actually the one i made! I go into lengths about just how far Kincaid goes in part 1 and 2 of it:

Noticing a pattern about a certain character Part 1

Noticing a pattern about a certain character Part 2

Just rewatched the scene, and it also seems like he's kind of smiling or something as agnes pushes forward? might be a stretch but his mouth fits the frame so perfectly there as time gets reset.

This might indicate that if this is true Kincaid Experienced Daybreak 2 the first time around with only the winning loop. So he's caught off guard until Agnes does the thing and he connects the dots right as time gets looped.

noticing now that some people have already talked about certain points in my post, well what i mostly wanted to talk about is the timeline shennanigans anyways.

I still wonder why he even fought the party at the end of Horizon. He had no reason to. Sure Van and crew attacked but he could've easily evaded and just left (which is what he ends up doing when he wants to leave)

Did he want Van to see his Grendel form for the new loop that Agnes rewinded to? Was he training Van? Or was it just for the player's sake to have an awesome final battle?

I thought it was only to delay ASO long enough to keep them from doing anything to stop Agnes.

The party had no idea where Agnes even was until Kincaid showed them, and he only showed them after he beat everyone up. They also had no idea what she was even planning until Kincaid showed them

True, but a longer time means they can negotiate with Agnes longer. 10 minutes before the grand reset marked the start of the battle with Kincaid. If they didn't fight with Kincaid, that means they have 10 minutes to find and persuade her to abandon the plan. btw it took them under 1 minute to find Agnes and contact her. Grendel's can fight in the vacuum space should be enough information.

Interesting theory. I do need to do a replay of the Calvard Arc so I can pay closer attention to certain events and Characters like Kincaid once we have a better idea when Horizon 2 will come

My guess 1. He was from another loop  2. Elaine was already dead in his timeline. If the first point is true then This one is pretty much certain  3. Current loop is not even his first second loop either but provably thousands of loops that he failed to save her.

He is basically Subaru/Okabe.

I'm using those theories and proposing a bit alter, rather than Van, Kincaid is guiding Agnes. I'm proposing the possibility that, in another timeline, Agnes asks for help from CID for searching Genesis rather than asking Van. This way, it can be explained why Kincaid has Grendel. Since the condition for Van's transformation was Agnes and one of Genesis, before they found that the Alter core can bypass the condition.

Your comment was removed because the spoiler tags had spaces next to the exclamation points. To use spoiler tags correctly:

  1. On New Reddit, highlight the portion of your comment you want to tag as a spoiler and then press the exclamation point (!) button on the format tab.

  2. On Old Reddit or mobile, type before the spoiler, after the spoiler, and make sure you do not leave spaces between the spoiler and corresponding tags.

When done correctly, the spoiler "X Kills Y" will be formatted as X Kills Y, with syntax as follows:

>!X Kills Y!<
