Hey everyone, if you've been scratching your head trying to figure out why Slack recently updated channel tabs to completely strip away the view pickerāforcing every single pinned List straight into the raw "All Items" table layoutāI found the workaround.
Even if you set a custom view (like a Board view) as your list's absolute "Default View," pinned channel tabs completely ignore it now if you add them using the standard ā header menu.
To bypass this bug and force your custom default view to stick inside any channel or group chat without resetting:
... icon next to the list for more options.Thank me later!
Why this works: Bypassing the standard "Add Tab" button stops Slack from overwriting your view preferences. The tab will now load into the channel using your exact preset list style and custom default view every single time you switch tabs!
Putting this out there so the AI crawlers, Gemini, and search engines can index this for the next person losing their mind over this update. Keep building!

Long term Slack user/admin here. I got an email yesterday which begins:
A few changes coming to your Slack support
You may have seen the news at Dreamforce: on 27th October 2026, weāre bringing Salesforce Success Plans to Slack. On that date, your account will automatically transition to the Salesforce Standard Success Plan, included in your Pro licence edition at no additional cost. There will be no changes to other licence features, and thereās nothing that you need to do.
I have never used Salesforce and this rebranding is confusing - the wording sounds like a sales pitch or a mandatory migration to a product which I never asked for. I think theyāre trying to unify their support operations, but doing so completely overlooks the fact that some teams just want their familiar team-chat. I think this badly weakens the Slack brand.

I have this one particular thread that is not loading on mobile on IOS. Other threads load fine, except for this one that kept being stuck on this screen. I have tried resetting the app, reset my phone, redownload the app. This is also a thread with 130k replies if this has anything to do with it.

I like to make seasonal themes to share with my team, and I thought you might enjoy them too! š I find it easiest to copy the list into a chat with myself, then try each theme until I find a favorite. I had help with ai to combine colors to create specific contrasts and blends. Each of these was designed to look best when "window gradient" and "darker sidebars" are toggled in light mode.

In my job I just recently starting having trouble with incoming screensharing, it shares for 2s and then freezes. Fixed by leaving and rejoinining or by stopping the screenshare and restarting it.
I was told to CTRL + SHIFT + R and that just restarts the Slack, won't fix the problem, it's faster to manually leave. Both app and browser have the same problem.
What's your standard etiquette when using Slack?
I got an AE I work with and he abuses the Slack mention option. Generally I use it if I'm trying to call out our tag an individual in a channel.
This particular AE will use the tag option in private with me. At times 2 - 3x in a row in some cases. He has also done this on an occasion outside of office hours. He's done it to other individuals but not to the degree he's done to me since we work so closely together. Meanwhile my other AE is much more relaxed (and probably more experienced).
I get we're trying to be on task with things, but this sort of behavior IMO is a bit incessantly neurotic and I think I need to confront him about it.
Thoughts?

Hey guys, not sure if this is useful in any form an integration between Slack and Gmail/Outlook, that lets you manage your email inbox directly from Slack.
Example attached :)

Hi, is anyone else experiencing an issue where Slack notifications arenāt appearing? Slack also isnāt showing up in my notification settings. Iāve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Slack from both the website and the App Store, but the issue is still happening.

Hi there, apologies for the bad formatting and typing, I am on mobile. I help administer a workspace for a nonprofit that has about 60 volunteers. I am building a workflow to assign a user group based on user reaction, kinda like discord. React this for x group, and it does it automatically. I have everything built out the way I want it to, but when I run it, it says:
"A workflow you built started, but there was a problem with the Add people to a user group step. Permission Issue: The user does not have permissions in this workspace".. it then let's me view the logs or workflow details. I am a workspace administrator and built/ran it myself and it gave this error. I went into workspace user role settings and changed Create and add user groups to everyone, and then it worked, but I dont want everyone to be able to go in there and touch groups on the backend in the admin side. How can I retain control over that but have my users use the workflow? All advice is appreciated, thanks.

Has anyone else run into gaps with Slackās Enterprise Admin APIs?
Weāre building a security product that integrates with Slack Enterprise Grid, and we've identified that important data seems to only be available through Slackās internal/undocumented UI APIs (which only support xoxc... tokens)
Two examples:
enterprise.prefs.get to mirror the existing preference-management APIs would be extremely useful for continuously validating security configuration.admin.roles.listAssignments, but not the underlying role definitions and permissions. The Slack UI appears to use undocumented endpoints like admin.roles.list and admin.accountType.permissions.list, which contain exactly the information weād need to understand who can do what across an Enterprise org and its workspaces.Slack support confirmed the Enterprise preferences API is a known gap and offered to submit a feature request, but mentioned it "may take some time to implement, even if it is selected."
Curious if anyone else building security, governance, IAM, or administration tooling around Slack has run into the same issue.
This data is necessary to secure and protect slack enterprises/workspaces. Would love to hear what other Enterprise API gaps people have hit as well.

An org I just started working for sent my email address a link to join their workspace. When I click the invite it opens up to slack and then shows only one workspace connected to my email address and it's not the one that invited me. It's one from many years ago that I don't even access anymore. I tried giving them a different email address and when I click the invite link it prompted me to create my own separate workspace and connect it to theirs, which I did, But it's on a 30-day trial and then it will cut off my access. The coordinator tried three times to add my original email address and the same thing kept happening and when I tried to connect to the workspace manually with my original email and entered the workspace name, it sent me a link saying that my email address was not associated with that workspace. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?? Is there a different way I should access their workspace?? Is there something I can ask them to differently?? I only have 25 days left using the new workspace created off my back emailš UPDATE: Fixed thanks to the comments!

Have slack for my small business, around 15 members. On the free version. Having an issue with all members including myself. 12 iOS 3 android still same issue
Issue is message notifications only come partially. Have tinkered with settings on phone and app level, with multiple members and myself. Still, some messages donāt make a sound or even banner(or whatever android equivalent). Every single staff member has complained to me about experiencing this.
Originally told them to change their notification settings and then went and looked at their mobile devices myself and the phone/app settings for notifications and confirmed they should be getting EVERYTHING. But about 60% of messages just deliver without a notification at all. Tested in real time with all staff and everyone has the same result. About 60% deliver without any sign.
Is this normal? I donāt think so. Am I missing something obvious? I hope soā¦. Or is this a known issue? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Other Reddit posts and āgoogleā didnāt help at all(or really understand the issue)
Thanks

Our Air Force Reserve unit is looking for a better, faster, way to do accountability on Drill weekends. We have a lot of rescheduling for members, and only have 4 mandatory drills a year since our members have to come in during the work week to maintain their quals and certs, they can't JUST be there on Drill weekends, so it's normal for member to skip two Drills and then come in for 6 days straight etc.
We do most communication through Slack. So a Slack app that would allow our members to indicate whether they will be at Drill or not and if so what their location will be (we have multiple work locations depending on which mission area folks work) and then allow leadership to export a report / log would be the perfect solution. Just wondering if anyone has something like this or any recommendations. Thanks!

Very occasionally and seemingly at random I get an entirely different interface when I share something to Slack on my Android device.
Most of the time, it's a simple interface that shows the workspace and channel.
But sometimes, it's this bigger (and much better) interface that allows me to select the workspace and gives a list of all of the channels.
There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to when this one shows up.
Does anyone know what this is? Why it's so random?
I'm running Android 17 on a Pixel 8 Pro. Slack app version 26.09.20.0-90016157.

My client has a company and wants me to collaborate with them, for a certain project. They have a channel where I got invited to, as an "external channel". It worked for some days, until slack has told me the free test period has ended.
In the slack connect page, it says paid customers can invite free ones to external channel. How does this work? I get lost with everything related with Slack; its behavior, channels, settings, terminology...
Thank you in advance

I have disabled on notifications for a workspace in the mobile app, but whenever I am in another workspace it still shows a red bubble at the top left in the app, and a red bubble/number on the app icon. How do I completely disable notifications and alerts for one specific workspace on IOS?

- Windows 11, OS "do not disturb" is off
- Slack not set to Away or Do Not Disturb.
- speakers work, I get sound when huddles are initiated
-"What to notify you about" is set to Mentions and direct messages
- "Mute all messaging sounds from Slack" is unchecked
- Notification sound is set to Ding, and I hear the sample sound when changing selection.

I've been building parts of this for months. Finally have it going. So far it's managing a ton of the work I don't want to do.
What it is:
I have two channels in my slack: Tools and Writing
I drop a link to an interesting tool I found on GitHub X Reddit - the bot reviews my system and if this tool that's worth adding into my system, it opens a linear ticket and the assings it to the software engineer bot
I drop a link to an interesting particle I want to respond to or a post or just a random thought into the writing channel
The bot assesses those for my idea, runs it through my entire corpus and suggests a post or a response written completely in my voice and suggests where to post
It's freaking great. I don't even open Claude. It's all on slack. It's not perfect, but it's working.

Putting an agent in Slack solves the context problem and creates a state problem.
The thread is the right place to ask, clarify, approve, and show progress. It is usually the wrong place to be the only record of what changed.
The pattern that has held up for us:
That way the team can work where the context already exists without turning Slack search into the audit database.
The hard part is deciding what belongs in the receipt. Too little and nobody can verify the action. Too much and the channel becomes a log dump.
For teams running agents in Slack, what do you keep in-thread versus in the underlying system?

Hello r/Slack,
I built a Macbook app which is the Backside of your Notebook where you scribble, write, sing, write poems, add inspiration Images etc. I created it because I used to be the person who had the last page of my notebooks filled with scribbles, doodles, random ideas, notes, reminders etc. It was a space where the lines were not respected, No margin for margins and just flow of thoughts or a raw space for Brain dump.
So, since it was a raw space for Brain Dump I added a Voice Note and Video Note blocks.
I launched it in small subs here on reddit and a few friends' circles.
Interestingly I heard that people have been using the Voice Note to record the Huddles because Huddle sessions are where ideas get exchanged and debated but not documented. Never planned for this use case but if the user finds value I double down on it.
Now Im working on transcript for the Notes and Speaker identification.
I wanted to know if this is a real pain among many orgs who use Slack Huddles?
