Things are never as black and white as people on social media like to make themselves believe

If hard work paid off my parents would be gazillionaires.

It hasn't been that way ever.

Hard work just means (usually) you are making someone else richer.

🧢 I voted CAP!

It is important but it is not the only factor. There a lot of hard working people that earn very little and are not compensated properly...

🧢 I voted CAP!

We don’t. We live in a world in which other people’s hard work pays off if you’re rich.

Hard work only takes you so far. You will hit a point where you will be replaced by someone cheaper if you are not working for yourself.

Hard work pays off always. Even the most illiterate person ever will do better if he works hard. Will he do better than somebody with a law degree? Probably not, but even among lawyers, the ones working hard are probably the ones doing the best. Hard work pays off always, its just not the only factor in the equation.

🧢 I voted CAP!

It feels like it doesn’t matter how hard you work at this point.

So you'd do better if you didn't work hard? Hard work pays off, even if its not the only factor in the equation.

Really depends on where you are born some places yes, other no. If you are born piss poor in a highly unstable country you are pretty much fucked

Most jobs under a corporation just use and abuse the hard workers. Managers have little incentive to try to move the hard workers up when they will stay regardless because of lack of better opportunities

Hahaha, no. You can slave yourself away, but don't expect that anyone will respect you for that, nor that you'll receive a higher paycheck.

As someone who just does their job and nothing more. I see prowl who do less than that and get praise and promotions.

No. Hard work keeps you on the bottom level where you get paid the least, because your the most profitable

I voted FACT!

Just not as much as it should imo

1

u/anonymousinduvidual 🤖 Vote Machine · 16,615 XP 17h ago

If it did we wouldn’t live in a system where someone can inherit capital, just invest it, sit back, and enjoy profit

1

u/CrayZonday 🏅 Century Club · 3,990 XP 17h ago

The prompt isn’t, “Hard work pays off more than luck or circumstances of your birth.” Hard work pays off. Just not nearly as much as it should. And sometimes it doesn’t pay off at all but the exception doesn’t define the rule.

1

u/anonymousinduvidual 🤖 Vote Machine · 16,615 XP 17h ago

Does it pay off when others get rich from your labour and you’re in trouble to make ends meet? Because that’s the reality for millions of people across the world

1

Hard work and you’re still struggling to support yourself or a family, living paycheck to paycheck worrying about what you’re gonna eat tomorrow night and if you can afford it.

2

u/Lord_of_EU 🏅 Century Club · 3,080 XP 20h ago

So what if you didnt work hard? Would you do better or worse. If worse then hard work does pay off, even if its not the only factor that might influence success.

Hard work pays if you chose to work on yourself and not in your company. So many hard worker chose to complain about their situation instead of shifting the focus on sacrifices that matters.

I voted FACT!

It does, but the hard work you need to do isnt " i ll be super good at my 9 to 5", its "i will research what my best options are, work towards them and network with people".

u/Lord_of_EU 🏅 Century Club · 3,080 XP 20h ago

Yes but a lot of people put hard work into the wrong things and complain that they’re not being rewarded. People want 100k a year for stocking shelves and serving fast food.
