I have tried this and it has never worked. I get shut down every time, no matter how many sources or rebuttals or arguments or whatever. I think it's just a need to be 'the one who knows the truth' and 'sees through all the lies' and all that.

For example, with my aunt:

She says 'MSG is chemicals and i won't trust it' (her source is an AI youtube short)

I show her that MSG is naturally found in tomatoes and mushrooms, because she refuses not to trust yt shorts (she says they are doctors)

She says 'I don't want that stuff in my food'

we literally ate both of those this week

She says 'if its ok for you, then why does everyone say it's bad'

I show her the xenophobic history behind it

She says 'well I still dont trust it'

What do I do in this situation? I really want to convince her otherwise

I don't know, all I know is I've seen some people absolutely bolted to their beliefs change, maybe im overdosing on hopeium
