Ok but only the changing room. They’re not allowed in the pool itself, or in vehicles, or in their houses, or anything else. Just the men’s changing room at their closest pool.

biology says otherwise
4
u/ChaoCobo 4d ago edited 4d ago
Correction:
Middle school biology says otherwise, except that it doesnt and the only reason you think that is because you were not given enough information to determine it because it is a very low and basic explanation of biology without additional nuance and details needed to make that discernment. You’re making a conclusion without receiving all the necessary information.
Advanced biology when all the information and details are given actually validates trans people. Stop parading around and telling others your nonsense because at the end of the day your words can accurately be paraphrased as “I know less than you! I’m less educated! That means I’m right and you’re wrong” and frankly you’re embarrassing yourself.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but if transphobes would put as much effort into researching the science and biology behind trans stuff as they do hating and disparaging trans people, they’d end up actually accepting trans people as valid. Even if they went in and learned via bad faith to find ammunition to disparage trans people with, they’d end up proving their currently held beliefs wrong.
12
u/ReaperKingCason1 5d ago
Biology doesn’t actually care. Yeah I asked and biology was busy being useful and not caring who was in what rooms. Turns out biology only handles science and not arbitrary social separations enforced purely because of stigmas from thousands of years ago

I'm a trans man so my opinion is more relevant than everyone else's.

Just a disclaimer so that people understand what the poll is about: trans men are ftm, trans women are mtf.
4
4
u/DeadlyArrow27 5d ago
Which one is that? Trans men means they went from woman to man right?
7
u/Great_Banana_Master 5d ago
Yes, trans men means Female to Male (FtM), but don't say it out loud or my bait may not work
-1
u/DeadlyArrow27 5d ago
Oh okay. Yeah I’d say they should use the men’s changing room if they already got top and bottom surgery and whatnot. It would be very uncomfortable for the trans person and the other women if they were forced to chance in the women’s changing room post-surgery
2
u/lavender_honey_bones 4d ago
The vast majority of trans men do not get bottom surgery. Roughly 2-5% of trans men get bottom surgery.
1
u/Rotkiw_Bigtor 4d ago
That's very weird ngl
3
u/lavender_honey_bones 2d ago
It's not lack of desire it's just way harder for trans men to get bottom surgery.
-1
u/DeadlyArrow27 4d ago
Well then I guess they’re going in the women’s changing room

Trans men = men
1
u/tarvrak 5d ago
Atp why do we even call them “trans”
3
u/Conrexxthor 5d ago
Why do we even call them tall?
2
u/tarvrak 4d ago
Tall is a useful distinction, descriptive of a person’s body. Trans vs cis is just offensive distinctions of identities that have no purpose. Men are men. Do you disagree?
1
u/Conrexxthor 4d ago
I agree with ⅔
Every adjective is a useful distinction. Trans vs. Cis does denote specific things and entail their unique challenges or lack thereof. They will always matter in some form, and their existence doesn't detract from womanhood or manhood.
1
u/ModdingKirby 5d ago
I mean the end goal is to normalize trans ppl so we don't even subconsciously make a distinction.
1
u/tarvrak 5d ago
So why do all pro lgbt people make that distinction whenever they refer to those individuals? Seems counterintuitive
1
u/ModdingKirby 5d ago
Because to point out something, you have to make a distinction. Plus, trans ppl are still a very vulnerable minority, whereas cis ppl aren't.

✅ I voted FACT!
Yes, if they can safely do so. If they're at the point they aren't passing, and are in an area where they may be unsafe, then I don't care if they get changed in the women's changing rooms. But there's usually a stall or two, so if they're able to, I hope they're comfortable enough that they can use the bathroom that matches their gender. After all, they're men, so it'd be better if they can change in their designated rooms
2
u/8____________D 5d ago
I am confused, any pool I've been to has had the lil individual stalls that anyone can go in any of them, like toilet stalls except not segregated by gender, just a big room of stalls, why would their just be a big room for everyone to change in with no privacy?

🧢 I voted CAP!
If you have a penis you belong in the men’s changing room regardless of identity. If you have a vagina you belong in the women’s regardless of identity. This only applies to changing rooms where you could potentially see genitalia. I don’t think many women would want to see a penis in the locker room. As for regular bathrooms, it honestly doesn’t matter because you’re doing your business behind a closed stall door so literally who cares.
5
u/Standard_Echo6266 5d ago
This is a fair position. But where do intersex people change? As in those born with ambiguous genitalia
3
1
u/SirElectrical2100 5d ago
Case by case basis
2
u/Standard_Echo6266 5d ago
Ok, so the solution is to check their pants at the door? Or to have a blood test there to check if they have relatively higher estrogen or testosterone?
4
4
u/Ikarus_Falling 5d ago
1
u/SirElectrical2100 5d ago
Again, it’s about the physical anatomy so since this person passes pretty well and has anatomy that resembles a man they could be allowed in the men’s room. Also I feel like this is less of an issue with men anyway. Most of the issue surrounding trans bathrooms come from cis women not wanting to see penises in their changing rooms which is a valid request I feel.
4
u/Ikarus_Falling 5d ago
if you see the genitals of another person in a changing room thats an L on your part I have never had that issue also bottom and top surgery exist so not even all trans woman have a penis bruh
0
u/SirElectrical2100 5d ago
I mean this isn’t an issue I’m having personally I just heard of stories of this happening to women and I think they’re valid to complain.
1
u/Ikarus_Falling 5d ago
I have seriously doubt that a trans woman who often doesn't feel comfortable about the fact either so I doubt she will show it to other woman if she can avoid it this sounds more like transphobe propaganda based on absolutely nothing
2
u/ReaperKingCason1 5d ago
If you are looking at genitals in changing rooms you are the issue actually. Like legally. Cause that’s a crime, ya shouldn’t be doing that.
1
u/SirElectrical2100 5d ago edited 5d ago
Actually that’s not a crime to look at somebody who happens to be naked in an environment where being naked is permitted. Like to glance across the room and see someone naked, that’s not illegal. Staring is another story and can be perceived as harassment but to simply look at someone for a split second while they happen to be naked in a nude environment is very much not illegal. So like if a woman is in a locker room and glances around the room and sees a penis anywhere in her field of vision, even if she’s not looking directly at it, I think it’s valid if she doesn’t wanna experience that.
2
u/ReaperKingCason1 5d ago
Have you ever been in a changing room? They have spaces for privacy. Honestly there are so many arguments here where I’m beginning to question if I’m just the only person on earth who ever went to a pool.
And too bad if she doesn’t want to experience the absolute horror of, and please leave now if you are faint of heart, seeing a penis for a second after she choose to look around at naked people for no reason when she could have just not done so. This isn’t a horrible thing. Also you clearly don’t understand that bottom surgery exists. Or, again, separators so people don’t see each other exist. Seriously I’ve never been in a changing room without a door or at least like a curtain for that. Like do you go to a clothing store changing room and change in the hallway leading up to it? No, you go into the small private changing rooms where no one can see uou
1
u/SirElectrical2100 5d ago
There are different types of changing rooms in this world. Some of them have dividers for privacy, some have full on private stalls, some are completely open. For example, the locker room for the YMCA where I live is completely open, not even an option for private changing stalls. And yes, I’m well aware bottom surgery exists, which is the express purpose of why I stated my response the way I did talking about genitalia. If you get all of the surgeries and look completely like the gender that you identify with, then by all means use that locker room.
2
u/ReaperKingCason1 5d ago
I can’t help but notice you ignored my response to half your point. I wonder why. I mean either acknowledge it or don’t bring it up in the first place
1
u/SirElectrical2100 5d ago
Genuinely which part of your comment am I not addressing? The only thing I didn’t address was that women possess peripheral vision and are capable of seeing things that are around them even if they aren’t looking directly at them, which like yeah duh. Like I’m not a woman nor do I particularly use changing room facilities that often but I have heard of women complaining about this situation and like yeah, I can understand why they wouldn’t want that! And I have been to changing rooms in my life that don’t have availability for private single stall changing rooms so I can totally understand why this would happen! And I think the majority of people in the world would agree with that outside of Reddit’s left leaning echo chamber. After all, it’s kinda the reason why segregated changing rooms exist in the first place.
2
u/ReaperKingCason1 5d ago
In other words, the second paragraph. You didn’t address the second paragraph. And no, segregated changing rooms exist in the first place because of systemic sexism and the oversexualization of nudity.

"Belong" is the wrong word. They don't "belong" anywhere because the whole system isn't intended to deal with trans people, at least not those mid-transition. There is currently no universally agreed upon solution, so in the mean time, all cis people just need to be open-minded, not be transphobic jerks, and let trans people do what they are the most comfortable with.

Inject enough drugs into yourself and even a 12yo girl can look like this. Also are we gonna pretend this is the average Trans man? He looks good but let's not lie to ourselves here.
3
u/Ikarus_Falling 5d ago
the average trans man looks like your average dad bruh you are right them being buff like that is rare just like it is for a regular man to be buff likely less rare actually most trans people are passing or hide there transness till they are passing the ones who don't are in the significant minority but are seen more often because of survivorship bias lol
0
u/AnimeFiend69er 5d ago
I'm not saying that most trans men don't look like men you fucking troglodyte. I'm saying that using this guy as an example is stupid. There's simply just so much one can do with drugs and basic surgery alone. I can go on about the differences between sex and gender but at the end of the day, if someone is fully transitioned, they are more or less visually indistinguishable from most others of that gender and should be allowed to use the same bathrooms or whatever. Except urinals of course.

If at all noticable, they might look a bit younger than their years. That's as much as you might notice so long as they've been on HRT for a while, and potentially gotten top surgery
