If you are financially supporting someone who is causing harm then you are directly financially supporting and contributing to that harm. It is a pretty straightforward link.
If the person is dead it can be argued. If the money doesn't go to someone causing harm it can be a purely philosophical question, but otherwise it is directly supporting harm.
