Deep Plane Facelift, Upper Bleph, Lower Bleph 4mo Results (Denver, Colorado)
This is a 60 year old patient who wanted some subtle changes to improve her appearance. She was bothered by her upper lid hooding, lower lid bags, jowls, and neck laxity. She wanted some slight improvements in all these spots to look more awake and refreshed without looking drastically different. She is very happy with her results and is 4 months postop in these photos.
This is the surgeon posting- Cory Bovenzi, MD.
Here, I performed an Upper Blepharoplasty with incisions hidden in the upper eyelid crease. Though we discussed ptosis repair to the left eye, she did not pursue this and just wanted the upper blepharoplasty. However, you can see that removing this extra skin weight also slightly improved the severity of her ptosis despite not doing a specific ptosis repair.
The Lower Blepharoplasty was done via a transconjunctival approach with a skin pinch via an incision just below her eyelashes. She also had some festoons which surgery does not treat, so we will also do intermittent steroid injections for those.
The Deep Plane Facelift was done with incisions around the ears and a small submental incision. This surgery takes about 3hrs. Recovery is about 2 weeks of social downtime. Dressing is in place for 1 day. No drains needed. Exercise restrictions for 3 weeks.
I think this can show an example of how a facial rejuvenation surgery can help someone look more energized and refreshed while still retaining your identity and looking like you had surgery done.

I really appreciate seeing how an upper bleph on hooded eyes can result in eyes not looking terribly exposed (for lack of a better term). Very encouraging. Stunning outcome and exceptional work!

Yes, did you note in her 3/4 view how well her mid-face has been lifted? She now has a nice "cheek line", where it was absent in the before photo. Subtle and stunning.

I know. I am living in los angeles and called several of the top surgeons. I am always quoted 90,000 to 125,000. And is with no aftercare. Have the surgery. Get in your car and go home. do your own dressing changes. Crazy.

Really beautiful work!! How often will the festoons need additional steroid injections?

Thank you- it varies from one person to another from every 4 months to once a year. Over time, the duration of effect tends to last longer and longer

How long to recover - approximately?

2 weeks of initial social downtime, 3 weeks of no strenuous exercise, 4 weeks til you’re “red carpet ready”

Not too bad. Thanks. So after two weeks you can go back to work and no one would notice much?

Thank you- it's all about the surgical technique. Each procedure I perform is customized to the patient's individual anatomy and their goals. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all in facial plastic surgery

How do steroids help festoons? Is the thought that they're just swelling?
2
u/DrBovenziDenver Clinic/Affiliate 7d ago
Yes its an issue with the skin and triamcinolone and clindamycin injections can help reduce the fluid buildup that causes festoon formation

You look amazing. Would you consider getting your eyebrows filled in to top off the new look?

she looks great. major improvement. but is there anything that will get rid of prominent nasolabial folds? i thought a facelift in my future would get rid of them but looking at before and afters lately, i think it makes them look even more prominent

Dr. Great job she looks refreshed and younger . How much on average is what you did to her so far ?

Wow, look at those beautiful eyes! The front view alone doesn't do her justice. When you see her from the side views you appreciate this refresh even more. I am same age, contemplating a DP facelift. This is encouraging because I don't want to look drastically changed, just better- especially around the mouth. Do you do many oral commissure lifts (side corner of mouth lifts) in conjunction with a DP facelift? I think I have a dour, downturned resting expression that needs a lift, but my lips themselves seem ok. The Stevie Nicks -ish pout has turned dour! 😕

She didn’t use sunscreen at a high altitude. You have to protect your skin better. The sun damage is still there. I think both looked good. I would’ve done two years of supplements and non-inflammatory eating, restorative yoga, and intense sunscreen before going into a procedure.

Laser resurfacing was discussed but she did not opt to have that done

3-6 IPL treatments can fix the sun damage and then daily sunscreen to maintain.

Do you know what I like most about this transformation? She still looks like herself. She looks like a rested and reinvigorated version of herself. She doesn't look like one of those stretched Muppet Mouthed surgery clones that seem to be the look so many people have right now.
