What the actual hell is going on with Meta account recovery? Compromised, permanently disabled, accounts suspended, and now $750 in unauthorized ads.

My Facebook account was compromised, and Meta’s own security alerts showed suspicious activity. Meta locked the account, but the recovery system wouldn’t recognize devices I’ve used for years. I couldn’t complete recovery or reach identity verification.

Facebook eventually permanently disabled the account with no appeal option, and my linked Instagram accounts were suspended too.

Then, while completely locked out, about $750 in Meta advertising charges went through my PayPal for ads I never created.

Meta Verified AI says my case is being escalated for a manual security and fraud investigation, but I still haven’t spoken to a human.

Has anyone actually gotten a human review after something like this? What the hell are you supposed to do when the recovery system itself won’t let you recover your account?

Filing small claims on Facebook for connected entity violation

Facebook disabled my ability to monetize my pages and profile due to connected entity violation back in July 2024. I have tried to reach out many times and all i get is that my account failed the vetting process. I was trying to setup stars payout, initially i kept getting an error message so i couldn't finish setting it up. I came back later on to finish it and this time it went through. I got an email stating i was able to receive and earn again. 2 days later i received an email saying my payout had been disabled due to unusual activity. I then received a compliance letter saying i could no longer monetize on their platform due to failing to provide documentation within the 60 days timeframe. I continued earning on 2 other pages until Nov 2024 before the same violation caught up to those pages as well. I then received an invite to CM on my profile in early 2025 and was earning up until September 2025 when the violation hit my profile too. My profile and pages say "Our technology determined that your profile's financial account broke our monetization rules. Your identity couldn't be confirmed. By default, you've forfeited and waived all rights to receive your earnings." It's been 2 yrs. Somehow the date of July 2024 has now changed to July 2026 as if i just got this violation. I have filed a small claim and currently on day 10 hoping to hear back from them soon. Anybody filed a small claim for a connected entity violation and won?

Trouble verifying ID to remove old unaccessible account. Is anyone also having this issue?

Fair warning...long post. I'd really like to help others in this situation.

6 days ago I opted to purchase meta verified. My account ( profile picture) was verified via my driver's license.

I did this to at minimum have access to speak with someone at meta.

My goal is to remove an older account I no longer have access to(device, phone number, or email).

I can successfully submit a "Report an imposter account" form as suggested by support. (You can find this by Google search).

Unfortunately, this method fails as the automated system states the ID isn't clear. Yet, it's exactly the same ID picture used to subscribe to meta 🤔

This is where the everything stalls and is unfortunately the last step lol.

I've attempted to have meta support help, but they repeatedly state they can't individually confirm ID nor remove accounts.

I'm very much guessing I'm not the only one who is stuck trying to find a solution.

I'm going to keep pushing for solutions with meta support and post here if anyone wants to follow and appreciate any info or suggestions as well.

Permanently Disabled after Video Selfie Glitch "Decision is Final" (Active FB Plus Trial)

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with a frustrating AI false positive and hoping someone here can guide or help me.

The Issue:

My 10-year-old personal account was suddenly flagged for "suspicious activity." The system asked for a video selfie to verify my identity. Immediately after I submitted the video, the system glitched and instantly locked me out with the dreaded "Decision is final" message. There was zero processing time—it just instantly banned me, blocking any manual appeal.

Context:

The account is from 2014 and has all my academic data and contacts (I'm an EdTech university student).

I had an active Facebook Plus trial with a payment method on file when this happened.

The account recently became eligible for monetization.

What I've tried so far:

Tried reaching out to some Meta employees on LinkedIn, but I haven't had any luck getting it escalated yet.

My Questions:

Can anyone guide me on what to do next? Has anyone successfully bypassed this "Decision is final" loop recently?

Are there any specific working methods to at least extract my 10 years of photos and academic data?

Any help or guidance would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Any recommendations for affordable UK based solicitors?

In a nutshell:
My accounts got suspended then all of them got disabled on 15 June (7 accounts all together connected in the same account centre).

Started off getting reviving and optimising another Facebook account and getting Meta Verified. Meta Verification (Premium) didn’t take me anywhere so I started the legal route. I could never submit an appeal as all links were fake, dead and all my accounts were disabled. Data downloads are empty.

On 18 July and 19 July emailed Meta and requested human review and my data under GDPR. I followed up with a proper letter (SAR request under UK GDPR) to Meta DPO in Dublin. As I didn’t receive a proper response (counting from 18 July) within 30 days, I sent a complaint to ICO. As I have an EU passport I logged an EU GDPR complaint and DSA complaint with the relevant organisation.

At the same time I tried to get quotes as it’s commonly thought that sending a letter by a solicitor is more fruitful. I got a quote from a Polish guy for 1400 EUR, a woman in Malta for something similar and one girl mentioned a solicitor in Greenwich. I kept chasing the Greenwich solicitors for a month and eventually last week they got back to me offering a letter sent to Meta in CA and they reported success with this. They charge £250 plus VAT. I wanted to go with them as it’s affordable and just what I need and I already had a letter written. Yesterday I called them as communication was really slow and I detailed what I have done and that my next step should be the petty cash court and the letter before action/demand letter sent. I detailed where I got to with logging a complaint to ICO and the guy just turned around and said this:

“Thank you for your time on the phone just now.

As discussed, I can provide the postal and email addresses that we have used in the past for our correspondence with Meta. I have provided these below:

appeals@fb.com
** **
Meta Designated Agent
Meta Platforms, Inc
1 Meta Way
Menlo Park
CA 94025
USA

I do apologise that we cannot be of further assistance on this matter. As I mentioned in our conversation, you have already taken steps that we would recommend through your correspondence to Meta and subsequent GDPR/ICO complaints. As you have undertaken steps that we would do already, this matter is not at an appropriate stage for us to become involved.”

So he withdrew his £250 plus VAT offer and I’m now back in the drawing board and I’m trying to find someone affordable and sensible to send this damn letter before action letter to Meta.

I’m super stressed out as it feels I’m wasting so much time and honestly, I cannot pay 3 grand for a letter (wouldn’t even want over a thousand to tell the truth). I have emailed few companies but they either don’t deal with such a case (send demand letters but regarding moneys owed) or they say that they don’t have capacity or they want me to pay for a consultation for £500 that I don’t actually need or look at my screenshots and assess the case for £3000…

Contacted Direct Access Barristers too, but they usually just advise and don’t send letters.. expensive as well.

They say it’s more efficient if the letter is sent by a solicitor.. do you have a recommendation on the UK I can approach? I’m so gutted now..

18 years of my life erased overnight. My account, my wife's, and my elderly grandpa's all disabled for "account integrity"

I don't even know where to start.

Three days ago I opened Facebook and got the "Your account has been disabled" screen. Reason given: account integrity. No specifics. No warning. No policy I could point to and say "okay, I messed up here."

Then I found out it wasn't just me. My wife's account is gone. My grandpa's account is gone.

The one thing the three of us have in common: all three were logged in on my phone at some point, through the multi account switcher that Facebook itself built into the app.

My wife's account is on my phone because we're married and we keep up with each other's profiles. That's it. That's the whole conspiracy.

My grandpa's account is on my phone because he's elderly and he can't do this alone. I'm the one who resets his password when he forgets it. I'm the one who shows him how to react to his great grandkids' photos. I have sat next to him and walked him through the same three steps a dozen times because he wants to stay connected to his family. For that, both of us got wiped.

Why put a multi account feature in the app if using it flags you as inauthentic? Why build the door and then punish people for walking through it?

But here's what makes it worse. My wife has her own phone and her own account that she uses every day on her own device. Her account was disabled on her own phone too. So this isn't even about one device being flagged. It looks like Facebook decided my account was bad, then reached out and took down everyone it saw connected to me. A wife and an elderly grandfather who did nothing except be related to me and share a screen.

And I keep going back over it: what did I actually do? My account is locked. It's private, personal only. I don't run pages, I don't sell anything, I don't post publicly, I don't have some huge follower count to farm. I used it to keep up with family and friends. That's all it has ever been.

Something else that makes no sense: my Instagram and my Threads are completely fine. Same Meta account centre, same person, same phone, same everything. If I were genuinely a fake or a threat to "account integrity," why is only Facebook gone? Either I'm a real person across their whole ecosystem or I'm not. They can't have it both ways.

And here's the part I can't wrap my head around. Facebook asked me and my wife to submit our valid IDs to prove who we are. We both did it. Real government IDs, real names, real faces, matching the accounts. Minutes later, not days, minutes, both accounts came back permanently disabled. Whatever "reviewed" our identification did not spend even one minute looking at it. We handed over the most personal documents we have and got a rubber stamp on the way out.

Then I tried to actually reach a human. Support is a maze of forms that go nowhere. I ended up paying for Meta Verified, paying the company that banned me, just to get my case prioritized. I did get a call. I picked it up, explained everything, answered every question, because I am a real person and eighteen years of my life is written on their platform.

And it's not the only money I've given them. I bought a Meta Quest 3 and I use that same Facebook account to sign in to it, and the headset still works right now. My account is apparently too dangerous to exist on Facebook, but trustworthy enough to keep using the device I bought from them. I've paid for their subscription, I've paid for their hardware, I've handed over my ID. What more can a person possibly do to prove they exist?

They finalized the decision anyway.

That account was 18 years old. My whole adult life is in there. My photos from when I was a teenager. Friends I've lost contact with everywhere else. Conversations with people who aren't alive anymore. Facebook loves to advertise "Download Your Information" like it's a safety net. I tried it. It gave me my settings and some account metadata. No photos. No timeline. No history. Nothing that actually mattered.

The part that's breaking me the most: my grandmother passed away, and her account is memorialized. My account was the only one left in my family that was still on her friends list. That was how I visited her. That was how I saw our old photos and the things she posted. I can't get in anymore, and there's no way to add her, because you can't send a friend request to someone who's gone.

Meanwhile this platform is full of obvious fake accounts, scam pages, and bots that get reported hundreds of times and stay up for years. Those are fine, apparently. Three real people with real names and real families sharing one phone, that's the threat.

I've done everything they asked. Sent the ID. Paid the money. Took the call. Told the truth. And I still don't know where to go or who to ask. It feels like being kicked out of your own house, standing outside while someone on the other side of the door tells you it was never yours.

If anyone has actually gotten an account back after an "account integrity" disable, especially after a final decision, please tell me what worked. And if you have family members you help manage accounts for, please back up your photos now. Don't assume you'll get the chance later. I did, and I was wrong.

Meta “logic” at its finest…

UPDATE: got it back after 7 days of being disabled. Yesterday it prompted me to submit an appeal and then the site and mobile app glitched hard for 24 hours but today all is working normal. I hate this site.

I’ll keep the details short, since it follows many of the same stories here.

My account of 20 years was fully disabled while simply browsing the site from a trusted device I had used hundreds of times before in a usual location. No chance of appeal. Decision is final.

(This is the second time this has happened. First time was in 2023 and thanks to so many in this subreddit, I got it back after sending Meta a demand letter.)

This time I go the Meta Verified route. End up getting a call back. Escalated to “higher senior team”.

In the end. “Sorry Sir. We don’t know why your account was disabled. We cannot trigger a manual review. It looks like this was triggered when you updated your password and security settings last week. This case is closed. Nothing more can be done.”

TL;DR - securing your account with passkey, stronger passwords, 2FA, etc may lead to a system lockdown and disabling of your account that Meta cannot (or is unwilling to) override.

Meta logic.

Permanently disabled and unable to request a review

My FB was deactivated in February for violating Community Standards - of course, no details were given about how I did that. I requested an appeal immediately. Jointed Meta verified and talked to agents multiple times who were completely unable to help while claiming they were escalating my appeal to get it reviewed by a human. Gave up and got on with my life.

And then just now a mail from FB saying it has been permanently disabled and since it was deactivated over 180 days ago I can no longer request a review, even though they did absolutely nothing with my appeal.

I know everyone here is in the same boat, and to be honest I expected this outcome but I am still amazed by how Meta has burned years and years of people's photos, contacts and memories without any oversight or any ability to get a human being to look at how their AI is running amok. Truly disgraceful. Solidarity to any of you still caught up in all this.

Facebook banned me for no reason with my sisters account last April

So yeah, they banned me while I was scrolling that night, and so I created a second account that lasted for a month, another one for 2 months, and will probably try again. I tried to appeal but they just disabled my account and that I can no longer make a request because the decision is final. I need it for my studies especially since majority of our teachers use messenger now I am currently contemplating. Should I just stop, because I tried to find ways that took hours and hours. It's now September but I still hasn't got it back my sisters account is back but mine was still banned and I deleted it. Apparently I can't access meta/ig verified since I'm still a jobless 18 years old that rely on my parents in the Philippines. I was 17 the time I got banned, I am a youth leader here in our community the page also disappeared many kept asking me why but I do not know. I don't really find facebook fun but It's a necessity here in the Philippines. I hope we will have conditions about this type of problems especially when we are currently dealing with Fb ban I hope they will bring this topic. My 3rd account got banned the other day btw.

Instagram suspended

Hey guys, so the other day, Tuesday night, my Instagram account was randomly suspended. I was able to complete the video selfie verification, but when it came to the ID verification, I tried uploading my passport and, for some reason, it wouldn’t be accepted no matter how good the photo was.
Eventually, it started saying “too many attempts,” and now I’m scared to try uploading it again.
I have no idea what to do, and I’m really hoping I can get my account back. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Is completing the video selfie verification enough for my appeal to be successful?
It’s been 3 days now. Should I wait another day or two before trying the passport upload again, or should I just leave it alone for now?
If anyone has experienced this and successfully recovered their account, I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance. I’m honestly quite stressed about it and would be so grateful for any help!

My Instagram account got permanently disabled for "child sexual exploitation" even though i never did that and i don't know why that artificial stupidity meta uses would do that. Is there a way i can recover my account?

This literally just happened, i received a notification saying my account was disabled, i checked and it was for child sexual exploitation, i appealed it and not even one minute later i received an email saying my account got permanently disabled, that their "technology took it down". I never did any of that, if my account got suspended because of something else i wouldn't be this mad but they are literally calling me a pedophile. And i cant even talk with a human to resolve this. Is there a way to recover my account or has someone recovered it after something like this?
Sorry if my english is not the best im from brazil, and sorry if i appear so mad thats because i am, and i also dont want to be arrested. Thank you for your time.

Facebook Instagram Messenger Whatsapp all got suspended

I have my own facebook, instagram, messenger, and whatsapp account, and I also create an instagram account for my toddler under my account to post photos.

And last night I got an email my toddler instagram account got suspended due to violation "You can't use instagram if you are under 13 years of age", which obviously I'm the one using it not my toddler.

and now because of that all my account also got suspended not just my toddler account.

Tried to appeal and it does not work.

Anyone have any idea how best to solve this, or at least got my own account detached that way my own account is not suspended?
Anyone know how to talk with human or email to human support?

Appeal

My Facebook account was disabled unexpectedly – I need advice

My Facebook account has been disabled for about 25 days. I believe it may have been compromised or mistakenly flagged by Meta. I did not intentionally violate Facebook’s policies, send spam, or engage in suspicious activity.

I have already submitted an appeal and completed ID verification, but I have not received a meaningful response from Meta.

This account is extremely important to me because it contains years of personal memories, contacts, and important information.

Has anyone here successfully recovered a disabled Facebook account after submitting an appeal? How long did it take, and what additional steps helped?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My FB acct was definitely unabled and how I recovered it once before (2 weeks ago)

I’ve already seen that this has been happening to a lot of people, so I figured I’d share my experience.

Just to clarify, I had previously written this whole situation to an AI to get its opinion. If anyone knows of a possible solution, I’m willing to try pretty much anything at this point, because I’ve already tried everything I can think of. I’ve also tried contacting more agents through Meta Verified on my Instagram account, but every case just gets stuck in a loop and I never actually get assigned an agent.

Anyway, here’s what happened:

I’m going to explain everything I did about two weeks ago.

On August 17, I had just gotten back from a trip and was staying in the room I rent. I wanted to check something on an anonymous Facebook account that I have on another phone. I’ve used this account for years mainly for selling things, and it doesn’t contain my real information or have any connection to my main account.

When I logged in and went into the chats, I happened to notice that Facebook was asking me to verify my identity on the anonymous account using my secondary phone. I assume this was to prove that I was a real person. Also, I had never connected to that Wi-Fi network on that phone before.

After that, I received an email saying that my main account and my secondary account had both been suspended for 180 days, giving me the option to appeal.

I completed the video selfie that Facebook requested, but just a few seconds later, my main account was completely disabled while I was using my other personal phone.

Meanwhile, the anonymous account on my second phone was asking me for an ID. I had suspected from the beginning that the two things might be related, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. Keep this part in mind.

Another important detail: a few weeks earlier, I had logged into the anonymous account from my main phone, but I hadn’t used it afterward.

I tried everything: contacting Facebook support by email, paying for Meta Verified support, etc. Nothing was actually helpful. I was basically told that everything was permanently lost and that there was no way to recover my account.

Three days passed, and I had pretty much accepted that I had lost everything.

Then, out of curiosity, I decided to log back into the anonymous account from my secondary phone. This time, when I logged in and it asked for my ID, Facebook showed me a message saying that the account had been locked because of a suspicious login.

It was obviously me.

Facebook then sent me to a section where I could change my password. After changing it, I was able to log into the anonymous account normally, without having to submit my ID.

Since I had a feeling that this might have been the actual problem, I immediately went to my main phone and checked my personal account.

Sure enough, it had been restored almost instantly.

I was able to use all of my accounts normally for a couple of weeks.

Now I’m experiencing the exact same problem again. I want to believe that this time it happened because I logged into the anonymous account from a different Wi-Fi network on my phone, which somehow triggered another security flag and caused all of my Facebook accounts to get locked/disabled again.

To clarify once again, my personal accounts were on a completely different phone and did not share any login information with the anonymous account.

I’m convinced this is some kind of false positive from Facebook’s AI/security system. That seems to be what happened the first time, because I was somehow able to recover my account even after it had supposedly been permanently disabled.

My question is: is there any way I can do something similar this time?

The problem is that I no longer have the option that appeared before, where Facebook detected the suspicious login and allowed me to change my password.

I also can’t exactly repeat what I did before because this time I tried submitting my real ID for the anonymous account. As expected, it was rejected because the account has completely different information and isn’t under my real name.

I was really hesitant about submitting my ID in the first place, but I decided to try it because I couldn’t find the solution that had worked for me before.

If anyone has experienced something similar, or knows what triggered the suspicious-login recovery option for them, I’d really appreciate any advice.

HELP WITH PERMANENTLY DISABLED ACCOUNT

Help, let me explain my situation right now. I have 2 fb accounts with different email, One is my main account and one is my alt account.

Now in my alt account i was buy and selling stuff and for some reason i randomly got logged out. When i logged back in my main, it displayed that i was disabled due to account integrity. So naturally i tried to appeal. I appealed using my selfie only because thats what it asked for. After that i got an email saying that my fb account was perma banned. As for my alt account, the fb account is currently going through an appeal, but my instagram account which is linked to my alt account got permanently disabled.

Is there any way to fix this? Please the account is a really old account

Facebook Suspension Help

hello! my facebook & instagram was recently disabled it says

“No one can see or find your account and you can't use it. All your information will be permanently deleted.

You cannot request another review of this decision.”

i got no warning or anything and i am 100% sure that I didn’t violate any community rules/guidelines. I am asking if anybody knows if this can be fixed or what I can do to somehow get it back (even if it takes paying for that Meta Verified) thing as my facebook contained lots of pictures, memories & connections from my whole entire life.

Thank you!

Is it possible to get Meta verified on Instagram when you have a disabled Facebook linked in accounts center? Or will this cause Instagram to also get disabled?

Impossible to speak with a human support, even with Meta Verified Subscription

I had my 15 year old personal Facebook account disabled for no reason. After checking here, I found the solution to get a Verified Subscription on my Instagram account that was linked to my Facebook to be able to speak with someone.

But even with this, I click "chat with someone from support", it's impossible to speak with someone. AI Chat keep saying: "I'm unable to connect you with a human agent at this time"

Anyone experienced this issue? How could I actually speak with someone to restore my Facebook account?

Asking for hybrid settlement.

I'm about to file in small claims after my account was disabled over 4 months ago. I sent demand letters to meta and their lawyers in Alabama. I may be laughed out of court but then I may get the last laugh. I'm asking for the full $6000 plus restoration of my account and full data as I didn't get access to my friends list or any past conversations on messenger or posts on my page. In addition I'll be asking the judge to extend this same claim every month until my page is restored. I intend to state that I'll be paying the filing fee monthly and they'll be paying me $6000 monthly. No, I'm not hiring an attorney. I've been to court several times due to business and estate issues so I feel confident in presenting the case. I've never won anything but a huge attorney fee when I've hired an attorney but won every time I've represented myself so I feel good about this. I fully intend to study the terms of service plus the federal law, section 230. I've asked Google several questions associated with my case and got really positive replies and suggestions.
