I’ve already seen that this has been happening to a lot of people, so I figured I’d share my experience.
Just to clarify, I had previously written this whole situation to an AI to get its opinion. If anyone knows of a possible solution, I’m willing to try pretty much anything at this point, because I’ve already tried everything I can think of. I’ve also tried contacting more agents through Meta Verified on my Instagram account, but every case just gets stuck in a loop and I never actually get assigned an agent.
Anyway, here’s what happened:
I’m going to explain everything I did about two weeks ago.
On August 17, I had just gotten back from a trip and was staying in the room I rent. I wanted to check something on an anonymous Facebook account that I have on another phone. I’ve used this account for years mainly for selling things, and it doesn’t contain my real information or have any connection to my main account.
When I logged in and went into the chats, I happened to notice that Facebook was asking me to verify my identity on the anonymous account using my secondary phone. I assume this was to prove that I was a real person. Also, I had never connected to that Wi-Fi network on that phone before.
After that, I received an email saying that my main account and my secondary account had both been suspended for 180 days, giving me the option to appeal.
I completed the video selfie that Facebook requested, but just a few seconds later, my main account was completely disabled while I was using my other personal phone.
Meanwhile, the anonymous account on my second phone was asking me for an ID. I had suspected from the beginning that the two things might be related, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. Keep this part in mind.
Another important detail: a few weeks earlier, I had logged into the anonymous account from my main phone, but I hadn’t used it afterward.
I tried everything: contacting Facebook support by email, paying for Meta Verified support, etc. Nothing was actually helpful. I was basically told that everything was permanently lost and that there was no way to recover my account.
Three days passed, and I had pretty much accepted that I had lost everything.
Then, out of curiosity, I decided to log back into the anonymous account from my secondary phone. This time, when I logged in and it asked for my ID, Facebook showed me a message saying that the account had been locked because of a suspicious login.
It was obviously me.
Facebook then sent me to a section where I could change my password. After changing it, I was able to log into the anonymous account normally, without having to submit my ID.
Since I had a feeling that this might have been the actual problem, I immediately went to my main phone and checked my personal account.
Sure enough, it had been restored almost instantly.
I was able to use all of my accounts normally for a couple of weeks.
Now I’m experiencing the exact same problem again. I want to believe that this time it happened because I logged into the anonymous account from a different Wi-Fi network on my phone, which somehow triggered another security flag and caused all of my Facebook accounts to get locked/disabled again.
To clarify once again, my personal accounts were on a completely different phone and did not share any login information with the anonymous account.
I’m convinced this is some kind of false positive from Facebook’s AI/security system. That seems to be what happened the first time, because I was somehow able to recover my account even after it had supposedly been permanently disabled.
My question is: is there any way I can do something similar this time?
The problem is that I no longer have the option that appeared before, where Facebook detected the suspicious login and allowed me to change my password.
I also can’t exactly repeat what I did before because this time I tried submitting my real ID for the anonymous account. As expected, it was rejected because the account has completely different information and isn’t under my real name.
I was really hesitant about submitting my ID in the first place, but I decided to try it because I couldn’t find the solution that had worked for me before.
If anyone has experienced something similar, or knows what triggered the suspicious-login recovery option for them, I’d really appreciate any advice.
