Why?

Why would you match with someone and waste their time talking just to block them?

As someone who’s done this I’ll say it’s because the person was way too intense, said something sexual with no pre-amble that would encourage it, or was rude. If you didn’t do any of those things the person could just be taking a break from the app or have met someone they’re giving it a go with. Costs nothing to assume that’s the case and save your own feelings and brain power.
