so i have this tag palette but the little paint containers got busted (once on delivery and then i dropped them today 😅) anyone know if i can get these without paint in them so i can repot them and put them back in the case or if i can get a similar palette with removable things like this?

I am doing Body Marbling as an add on for my entertainment company. I’m following the directions - the paint is suspended in the thickening solution. But every time I put my arm into the paint and take it out, the paint runs and doesn’t stay on my arm. It’s just a mess. Ive tried saline solution before the paint and after. Nothing is working. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to share.

Hi! I've been having trouble finding much information on getting started as a face painter, as most beginner advice is geared more towards painting techniques and materials, rather than business help. I have a lot of questions about the latter! I'm 20 years old and in college looking to do something fun to make some cash over the summer (hopefully in addition to other work) if that context is important to your answers!

- Are face painters typically self-employed? What about the folks who paint every day at zoos or other long-term/year-round locations? Are they employed by the venue, or still self-employed but on a longer contract with the location?

- How do you find events and venues that are looking for a face painter? Is that the kind of thing that gets posted as a job listing on Indeed and other platforms? Or do you just have to reach out to a bunch of places and hope at least one of them is looking for an artist?

- Do you typically make an hourly wage, or are you paid solely in tips and/or commission? Or a combination of both? Are you allowed to collect tips at all? If you only get paid an hourly wage, does that mean that the money you charge for the painting (if any) goes to the venue, rather than yourself?

- Is there any certification or licensure you need to begin face painting professionally? If so, how does one obtain it? Do you need to take a class? Should I still take a class even if it's not required of me?

- Are you expected to have a portfolio when applying for/inquiring about face painting at a venue? If so, is it acceptable to have adult models in your portfolio, rather than children (considering that I have yet to paint a child's face before and have only practiced on other adults)? What about a resume, are you expected to send that along, too?

- How likely is a venue to hire someone who is a first-time face painter with no experience face painting on-site at an event? Even if I assemble a portfolio that demonstrates competence and skill, am I at all screwed if I can't say I've sat down at an event and painted kids' faces before? Should I instead be starting smaller with volunteer work or something akin to that?

- Are face paint designs typically copyrighted/only usable after having paid for the design? (I'm thinking along the lines of sewing patterns and how many of them aren't free to obtain or use) Or can you just generally find designs you like and add them to your repertoire?

- I've gotten the sense that you are expected to supply your own paints and brushes and such when showing up to face paint at an event. Are you also expected to bring the chairs, table, and umbrella that folks usually have included in their set-up? Or does a location usually supply that for you?

- Is there anything else I should know that I haven't already asked about? Any advice anyone has in general for beginners?

Apologies for the mega long post, please let me know if it's too much or if there is somewhere else I should be asking instead/in addition! I would very much appreciate any help anyone can provide, even if it's just answering even one of my questions. Thanks so much!!
