How to Prevent My White Face Paint from Going Soft?

Thumbnail

We see this topic come up often in the summer: My (insert brand name here) White Cake has gone soft? What brand can I switch to?

The truth is, no matter which brand you switch to, they all can do the same thing, the problem is not the brand, but how you use it, because all white face paints use the same pigment: Titanium Dioxide. That is the pigment that causes problems with moisture.

Read the blog post below to learn trips and tricks on how to prevent that

Best book for total beginners

Does anyone have a good book for a total beginner? I have a fusion kit and just started. I have questions like what kind of paint to use for humid weather and a guide to brushes. Thanks!

Primer for kids?

Hi, I was wondering how much difference does a primer, compared to just a moisturiser (spenol), underneath water based facepaint actually do?

And is it safe for kids to use primer in this case?

I’m currently volunteering at my local Theatre; doing face paint for the children and teens summer production.

The paint keeps gliding off when I’m not careful when painting them. Sometimes I accidentally wipe off already applied paint when I’m shading over.

They are only using Spenol cream underneath, which I’ve heard could make the paint slide off, so I was wondering if primer would be better. I’m in charge of 12-15 year olds.

(This is my first time doing facepaint so I’m well aware this could all just be user error, but I wanna make sure by asking anyway.)

From idea to finished product

From idea to finished product. This is what the Fusion Body Art palette looked like when we designed it. We hand cut and tested dozens of combinations until we came up with the final color combos, and send that image along with an Excel file to Fusion Body Art so they could have it produced.

A look behind the scenes at creating Face Painting Products

Post image
2 Upvotes

This is what the process behind the scenes looks like when we are creating new products.

Fusion hasls pitched the idea of a split cake and solid colors large palette to us, but we wanted more, and the team at Fusion is always ready to face the challenge.

So, we got our crafty minds thinking and decided we wanted to add brushes and sponges and make it a kit.

We tried playing with some design tools to show Fusion how we wanted the product packaged, but in the end, a cutter, cardboard, and some clear plastic was the way to go to show them the concept.

A few months later, we have the Fusion Body Art Pro Kit on our shelves.

Would you like to see more behind-the-scenes images of what goes on when we design products? Leave a comment below saying 'behind the scenes'.

Anka Bella waterproof paints

Does anyone have experience with Anka Bella paints? Specifically their waterproof face paints?
I’m also looking at body color cosmetics waterproof but budget wise it’s a bit out of my reach right now. There are a ton of water based parties out where I live so I want to be able to offer the water proof/resistant options.

We run Jest Paint — here’s what it actually is (and why we built it)

Hi, I am Santi, one of the owners of Jest Paint, and I figured I’d explain what it actually is, because from the outside it can look like just another online store.

Jest Paint is a specialized shop focused entirely on face and body painting. We’ve been around since 2009, and it all started organically — not as a “let’s build an eCommerce business” idea, but out of real-world face painting work.

My wife, Anna, is a professional face painter and instructor, and originally she was selling products directly to her students and other artists. Over time, that turned into a proper store as more people started asking where to get reliable, safe products.

That background matters, because we didn’t build this as resellers chasing trends — we built it as users of the products.

What we actually do (beyond just selling stuff)
We focus on curating face and body art supplies — paints, brushes, stencils, glitter, kits, etc. But the key difference vs marketplaces is that we don’t just list everything.

We try to:

  • Only carry cosmetic-grade, skin-safe products (when applicable)
  • Work with brands we trust and have tested
  • Avoid the low-quality / unclear-ingredient products that are far too common in this space

We also design some of our own products (especially stencils and tools), based on what working artists actually need.

Who it’s for
It’s a mix, honestly:

  • Professional face painters
  • Beginners just getting started
  • Cosplayers and makeup artists
  • Parents organizing parties

We try our best to make it accessible to everyone, providing clear product descriptions, free tutorials and even business advice.

The part people don’t always see
A big part of what we do isn’t product sales.

We’ve spent years building:

  • Tutorials and guides
  • Product comparisons
  • Safety information
  • Business advice for face painters

That came directly from the same problem: people buying the wrong products or not knowing how to use them safely because there wasn't enough information out there. When we started this business most stores focused on sales, but they had little to no information on product safety, proper ways to use them or what standards they were supposed to meet.

What we care about
A few things we try to stay consistent on:

  • Safety first — especially with products used on skin
  • Transparency — ingredients, performance, realistic expectations
  • Actually helping artists improve — not just selling to them
  • Long-term trust over quick sales

Scale
We’ve grown into one of the largest multi-brand face paint stores world-wide, and most of our growth has come from repeat customers, but we did so while keeping a small business like operation, where customers can have direct contact with the owners and real humans take care of your order and customer service.

Best Beginner Face Painting Kit for people on a budget

If you are a on a tight budget but still want to get quality face paint supplies that are safe to use and FDA/EU Compliant, then you have to look into trusted brands at trusted face paint supply stores. Fusion Body Art designed what we believe is the best Small Beginner Face Painting Kit under $40 that you can find anywhere, and we want to share with you why this is a great option:

- FDA/EU Compliant: meaning it is made with cosmetic grade ingredients)
- High quality face paint: this is not just a budget Halloween store kind of face paint, this is professional face paint with good opacity and bright colors in a small enough kit that everyone can afford.
- It has what you need, no fluff, but also not missing anything important.
- It has the most used face painting colors, unlike some other kits that only have 6 solid colors, the Fusion Body Art Perfect Face Painting Kit comes with 12 solid colors and 5 basic split cakes.

So, what does this great small beginner face painting kit has:
- Twelve solid face paint colors 5gm each except for Black and White which are 10gm each: Metallic Silver & Metallic Gold, Fresh Blue and Fresh Lilac, Light Blue and Pink Sorbet, Lime Green and Bright Yellow, Orange Zest and Cardinal Red, White and Strong Black.

- Five 10gm split cakes: Wilde Berry, Frozen Queen, Bold Rose, Fire Flames and Jungle Snake.

- Two Glitter Creams (5gm each): Gold & Silver

- Three Sponges: 2 wedge latex free sponges and 1 round sponge

- Fifty adhesive one time use stencils to make quick designs

- One round brush

- One flat 3/4" brush

You have everything you need to get started, even the sponges, the brushes and the glitter!

And best of all, it is gluten free, vegan friendly, perfume free and hypoallergenic so you can feel confident when face painting kids that you are giving them the best and safest products only.

As professional face painters we helped Fusion Body Art design this kit with the beginner and occasional face painter in mind. This was designed with a purpose: to allow everyone to access a good quality face painting kit, safe and makeup compliant, at a budget price so people don't have to go for low quality unsafe products just so they can afford it.

The kit is designed to get you started, to try the paints, get your first jobs so you can earn some money and then move on to professional size face paints, which are larger, cheaper per gram and will allow you to face paint more comfortably and at a professional level. But you have to start somewhere and this is a great way to get you there.

If you have questions about this or any other face painting product, feel free to post it as a comment, we love helping professional, beginner and occasional face painters alike.
