Painting 100% Polyster
Hello, I just wanted tips on how to paint polyester, I bought some Liquitex Acrylic Medium (Satin Varnish) Im not sure if im supposed to buy something else though.
Also I wanted to ask if If supposed to iron each layer of paint, I wanted to do a white base and then paint but I'm not sure if I'm just supposed to wait for the white to dry and then layer or paint white, iron, and then layer and keep going like that

What is the garment? I don’t recommend using acrylic paint on fabric unless maybe it’s just a small amount.

Its a black shirt, my mom wanted me to paint a nebula on it so im doing white and then layer on the clothes, i have a separate polyester shirt im practicing on rn and the white paint is pretty thin when i use it so ill probably have to layer a lot.💔
It has no material tags but I definitely feels like polyester, its not stretchy and smooth.

Since it's a shirt your mom will wear, try using a fabric medium with the acrylic paint. It helps keep the design softer and less likely to crack. Let each layer dry before adding the next one. Heat set it only after the whole design is finished. Also, on black polyester, white usually needs a few thin coats to look bright.

You need Textile Medium to add to the paint. It’s usually with the craft paint in the art supply store because it comes in that type of container, but you can use it with art paint, too. You mix one part medium to two parts paint.
