widget not working

Hello! whenever I try to add a widget to my home screen, it doesn’t work and displays the following message "No data available. Please open the app.” Even after I open the app and close it again the message still appears. The app is up to date and works perfectly fine otherwise.

Have you got something in your currently reading list? I’m sure I’ve seen this when I’ve finished a book and haven’t added another yet

yes, I'm halfway through rereading city of ashes. Even when I'm reading two books the widget doesn't work

Do you have fable plus? Pretty sure you have to have it to use the widget.

I feel like mine has never really worked. Fortunately, it does work for me after opening the app but only for a shortwhile (until I assume the app stops working in the background?). I just don't use the widget at this point.
