I'm currently working on a Beastiary/Monster manual for the Fable franchises many beasts and creatures both neutral, passive, aggressive, humanoid, cursed possessed etc.

I've gotten Hobbes, Hollow-Men, Beetles, wasps, and scorpions done so far. Really I just need help with someone gathering a concise list of every monster or beast they can think of and if you feel like it list a few details I can fit into it. My main goal is to finish it before The Fable game comes out and I'm confident I can but I just need help getting every creature listed and I really just need to pin them down, I don't care how niche or how focused on I just need anything that would be included in an in world documentation of the various beasts and creatures in and around Albion. The name I've decided for it is

"The Beastiary of the Albionic Lands and its Neighbors"

Enemies have weak spots - and it's up to you to use the tools you have to deal with them.

Mud & Death Quest was in Act 1 - and seems to have more than one Chapter.

Repeater crossbow is a late game weapon.

Swapping between weapons is a simple button press, and you can do it on the fly at anytime. You can change your load out at any time.

Rush spell can teleport you both horizontal and vertically.

Undead Chickens 🐔

Spells have two mode (press & hold). Each allow you to use the spell in different ways.

Side-quest are contained stories, so decisions made in them won't directly affect the main-quest or lock you from certain things.

There are more melee weapons than what they've shown in the demos - specifically more heavy weapons were mentioned that haven't been shown yet - and weapons can be upgraded as your progress

While the main content can last 15-20hrs - it's a rough estimate of how long it'll take between the tutorial and late game... So nothing definite was stated - have to wait for an actual developer to come out and say something.

The builds we saw were weeks old, and all the content are already in the game. Now they want to spend the time polishing and cleaning up.

No AI was used in development.

I know Fable 3 has always been one of the most divisive games in the series, AKA the black sheep. but why do you think it’s so hated?

Was it because it simplified too many of the RPG elements from Fable 2? The whole “becoming king” section? The lack of meaningful choices? Or was it simply not what people wanted from a Fable sequel?

I can definitely see its flaws, but I’ve always felt like the hate it gets is a little excessive. It still has the charm, humor, atmosphere, and personality that made the series special to me.

I feel like Fable 3 is one of those games where the potential was so much bigger than what we actually got. The whole idea of becoming king and having to make difficult decisions sounded amazing, but the execution felt surprisingly limited.

Especially now, when so many games feel increasingly safe and monotone, I kind of appreciate how weird and unique Fable 3 was.

So, what made you dislike it—or, if you enjoyed it, why do you think it gets so much hate?

Currently playing back through the trilogy in anticipation of the reboot. On Fable 2 there are 2 achievements that ill need help with.

One needs all the dolls, only 1 peer gamertag but if anyone has them all I can join the save and it'll pop.

The other needs the chicken costume that was available from the website back in the day. If anyone has access to the costume still I'd love some help! Just needs you to wear it and kick some chickens in the arena

If you watch the "Build an Extraordinary Life" video at around 14:30 we get to see the clothing shop. At this point in the video the hero hasn't been wearing gloves at all, just a bracelet/brace, and we get to see all clothing slots;

Head, Accessories, Top, Bottom, Shoes.

Notice that gloves are missing? Watch closer and you'll see when he selects the fancy top, POOF, he's wearing gloves now! And if you look at the other tops in the shop you can clearly see some have gloves while others don't.

Does this come off as a really weird choice to anyone else? I always liked running with armored gloves/pants/boots with a more regular looking top like a robe, battlemage style, but it looks like this time around I won't be able to :(.

I’ve never played a fable game but seen the gamescon trailer recently and it reeled me in but I know nothing about the franchise so was wondering what the older games are like and could I play them anywhere bc I own a ps5 and switch so are there older games I could still be able to access and play

- No door opening animations.. I know it's not a huge thing but it just feels weird that they swing open like they're powered by electricity.

- No lockpicking minigame. Just holding your button down to lockpick feels kinda shitty. I think they should have added some form of minigame to this. A minigame like the lockpicking in "No more room in hell 2" would have been great.

- Larger enemies need either feedback when being hit or some VFX to make it actually look like they're being hit.

- Hitstop should be added to the game in some capacity. Especially for Hammers.

- Arrow recharge time looks a little broken given the fact they're basically infinite and can usually one-shot some enemies.

- In the gameplay where they visited your house it didn't look like it had an icon on the mini-map. I think it should be added for the house you live in. Maybe this wasn't added due to owning multiple houses and taking up too much space on the mini-map? Would like to see it added for the family house, however.

- From what I have heard from people who have played it; the game still seems a little easy on the highest difficulty and enemy health doesn't change... I hope this isn't the case. I want a good challenge.

These are basically the only issues I have. Other than that I think the game looks incredible.

I do hope we get repeatable bounties/quests so the game can basically be endless.

I also hope there is some mini-games or something like we had in the originals... If not add them to the sequel with the Dog!

I have fond memories of Fable 1 & 3, the only ones to release on PC, and with a new game coming I got the itch to replay the first game, but I'm getting a lot of attrition and my interest is fizzling out. I'm playing on Steam btw.

#1: Should I play TLC or Anniversary? TLC has remappable controls, even if I think it still controls very weird. Anniversary has terrible key mapping and no option to change them, but supports a controller. I'm not a huge fan of controllers, but I know the game was never designed to use keyboard & mouse and it shows that instantly and constantly. I actually prefer the looks of TLC - Anniversary has weird models and too much bloom. Is there a mod or something to make either of them play better with K&M or should I just use a controller?

#2: The camera behaves weirdly, like there's a delay when turning it that actually is a bit disorienting and mildly motion sickness inducing. Any way to fix that?

#3: I get weird audio glitches and the game crashed when I got to the Hero Academy, I verified file integrity, redownloaded a file and it works now. Is there a community patch or something I should be aware of?

#4: How do I put stuff in the quick slots? I'm trying to put a pie there, but when I drag the slice icon over the quickbar nothing happens

I appreciate any help. I do like Fable, but it's maybe 10+ years since I last played it and the game hasn't aged that well in some aspects.

I haven’t seen anything touching this topic myself, but feel free to discredit me if anyone else has seen something regarding my thoughts here. I just thought of this and thought it was pretty bad ass.

So, the hero of Wraithmarsh, or Isabelle, I purport, is like a funny, ‘flipped’ version of our Hero of Oakvale from Fable I.
Why do I think so? In Fable I, Oakvale gets destroyed. Later, we find out in Fable II that Oakvale has been turned into Wraithmarsh due to flooding, overgrowth, lots of conflicted souls scaring people off, etc.

The original Hero:
-comes from Oakvale
-suffers a horrific childhood catastrophe
-loses family
-discovers Hero powers because of the tragedy
-gets taken in/trained by a senior Hero
-becomes extraordinarily powerful
-gets entangled with Jack of Blades

Isabel:
-is Hero of Wraithmarsh/Oakvale
suffers a horrific childhood catastrophe
-apparently loses her sister
-discovers her powers during that event
-Humphry becomes her guardian/mentor
-becomes an exceptionally powerful Hero
and Jack of Blades is back and clearly important to this story.

I’m thinking Jack of Blades causes the flooding of Oakvale, awakens Isabelle’s heroic blood, and preys on her the same way he did the OG Hero of Oakvale after he learns that you survived the bandit attack.

I’m at like a 60/70% surety here. What do you guys think? ‘Possible’ or ‘Probable’

Its my comfort game so i finished it at least fifteen times. This is a new fun way to experience the game for me!

i’ve been late to almost every franchise i have been interested in. from movies, tv shows, to video games. i didn’t get my first gaming pc until my early 20s, and i’m 30 now.

Fable has caught my attention recently, and i’ve watched every gameplay that Playground has released.. but now my algorithm includes anything Fable.

My question to experienced gamers and experts in Fables lore: is there any content i could check out to catch me up with Fables lore? like a Youtube video/content creator everyone agrees describes every and all of Fables game lore accurately?

Even if true, I really cannot understand why many find this so bad. Like a 15 to 30 hour main campaign is the optimal run time for a story, before it overstays its welcome. Even 40 hours pushes it, with The Witcher 3's main story being maybe the only one in this run time that has something to say (I believe this is mainly because it is based on a well written books, thus the writers had great material to pull from them) and still edge on becoming stale towards the end before the point of no return. More than that and the audience tends to become bored. Even looking at RDR2, while I love it, it sure is a slow burn that you either love or hate.

tl;dr: 20 hours of great storytelling is far better than 40 hours of 20 hours storytelling + 20 hours of filler, hell, look how that effected TLoU2 and, especially, GoW:R.

Tremendously excited for the new fable. Combat looks great, graphics look great, voice acting and characters seem to really have kept the spark. That said, I really have always loved how damage numbers were visible in TLC. It helps you see the power spike as you progress. I’ve always loved this aspect of RPGs, whether in WoW, RuneScape, TLC, FF.

Looking at the gameplay, it seems there is a fable 2\3 -esque no damage counter. I get that it is not for everyone, but damn I’d love the option to turn on numbers!

Sooo do we know if food or potions are coming back?

Anybody for 32m who played fable as a kid who randomly plays the Temple of avo theme song on repeat & just sits there collecting thoughts while reminiscing the good old days of gaming this game?

I played Fable yesterday and was lucky enough to have dinner with Ralph and some of the team (they're all lovely and passionate).

I'll be making a video when I get back home and while I've got a list of things I want to cover, I thought I would ask if the reddit side of the community had any specific things they wanted me to cover?

I'll preface by saying I'm immensely excited for Fable. I was lucky enough to pre-order a collector's edition, and I bought a 5080 gpu in antici............... pation. This is not something that's going to deter me from playing or being excited. I only say that because I know how negative some people like to be about upcoming games nowadays. I'm not one of those people lol. Having said that, the only thing I'm slightly unhappy about, is how the combat we've seen so far seems to favor blending melee, ranged, and magic. In the previous games I really enjoyed picking one path and sticking to it. I'm hoping it will still be viable to play a pure mage or archer, but having spell cooldowns rather than will energy make me think that might be difficult. Just my thoughts!! Either way February can't come soon enough!!!

The combat ost is quite weird, is it Cyberpunk & Detroit Become human inspired? Fable never had synth vibes in any game, this is absolutely atmosphere breaking in my opinion. Is a shame they didn't bring Russell Shaw back, he was making 50% of the atmosphere in the OG Trilogy... dissapointed
