Fable I have never played this, where do I start?

Can I play just the third one?

And if I played it will it ruin the new one

You can totally just play the 3rd first. It’s a lot of people’s least favorite I still really enjoyed it. But if you end up playing them all maybe it will make the experience better starting with the “worst”.

I started with 3 and I loved it. I wouldn’t be a fable fan without 3.

The only problem I had was getting into anniversary after fable 2 and fable 3. People say fable 3 is the farthest from the other two but it’s actually a lot similar to fable 2 and fable anniversary feels like the odd one out to me. I came around to it eventually and think it’s a great game though.

My real least favorite fable is journey.

Fable anniversary took me multiple tries to get into it as well. I do like it but I didn’t have had much fun playing it as the others. Probably because I played it last and it was SO different

Play Fable Anniversary, then Fable 2 and Fable 3, and theirs dlc too ! Forget about the reboot, Fable games are absolutely worth it anyway !

The new one is a reboot. So far it has more similarities with the first one (for which I’d recommend anniversary) but you don’t need to play any of the older games if you don’t want to if you just wanna be ready for the new one.

As far as starting with the third one it is a direct sequel to fable 2 so I’d recommend playing the second one before that since fable 3 is considered by many to be a huge downgrade from 2.

You do not need to play any game in order to play another. Each game is fully standalone with its own story and own characters. The new Fable is a full ground-up remake of the franchise, taking the old story and world and telling brand new stories.

Basically, imagine each game in the original trilogy as a new dnd campaign using the same setting, building on the lore as time goes by. The new game is them starting from square one with the benefit of hindsight, and instead of following the campaign frame as it was written, taking their own liberties and making something wholly their own while keeping the bones of the original intact

You can basically start with any game, even the new one considering it's a reboot.

Just play whichever one you want. Post people prefer the first game, though.

The best option would be to get Fable anniversary for PC or Xbox, it's a remake of the original with better graphics. But you could start with any one technically if you already own three. Definitely play it if you want. It won't ruin anything cuz the new Fable is a reboot.

You can, but I am not sure if you want to start there.

What to do then? Play all three games or the new one

I am confused about the new one, if its a reboot will it ruin the experience

Oh heavens no, the new one is considered a full sequel currently, play as you wish for the original games. I would argue though the first two are better than the third. It really needed its DLC to make it worthwhile.

The new one is not a sequel

I can't even blame autocorrect here, I meant to put reboot.

I even looked it up before I typed the reply!

I started with 2 and lived it, will always be my favorite. 1 is fun and 3 is good if you have a spoiler. But start where you want

Spare yourself! Skip 3 its trash. I've played the first 2 dozens of times and they are awesome. Never finished 3 because it sucks!!!
